Hello everyone,

I think I am finally starting to get the hang of eating right. Right now I am working on portion control and I'm slowly starting to add healthier foods. Dinner time and lunch time are where I have a hard time deciding what to eat that is healthy. I take small snacks to work as my lunch unless I am doing a double shift with the kids. But when it comes to dinner time I seem to not make the best food choices at all. Any suggestions on what kinds of things/foods I could buy that is not to expensive, quick to make/take work, and for dinner? Have a great weekend everyone. Keep pushing play.

Hello everyone,

I went to get my yearly check up today with my doctor. He said that i'm in good health. I have to wait to see what my blood work shows when it comes in the mail next week. I also got my flu shot.
I felt since I work with children for a living that I needed to get it. Feeling kind of bad because of the flu shot right now. Dad said I had this feeling last year when I got the shot. I stayed in my calorie goal for today. Have a great weekend everyone. Blessings to all. Keep pushing play.

Hello everyone,

I hope everyone is doing well. Today was good today. I took both my sweet fur babies Annie and Cooper out for a walk around the neighborhood. Both are tired and calm now.
So far I have been under my calorie goal for today. Really trying hard to eat better. I did reach my daily step goal today. Trying really hard also to reach my calorie goal each day. I'm not trying to lose any weight now because I am at my goal weight. Going to try to get my walking workout in before I go to bed. Blessings to all. Keep pushing play.

Did real good with my eating today. I reached my caloric goal for today. Mom and I went to Walmart after I got off of work. She asked me if I was sure I didn't want to buy any mac and cheese. That is a big temptation for me. I thought about it. And said NO! I'm trying to break that addiction of foods and drinks I know I can't have because of my acid reflex issues. I'm proud of myself. I know I can do this.

Hello everyone,

Today was a good day as far as watching what I ate today. I did have 1 soda today because I was really tired today. Tomorrow is a new day to start fresh. No mac and cheese though. My dad suggested that I eat soup instead of mac and cheese. Mac and cheese is another temptation habits that I need to break.
So I'm taking on a new challenge for myself. No mac and cheese for 7 days. I'm still working on the no soda part also. My family is proud of me for fighting my temptations. No acid reflex flair ups today.
Hope everyone is doing well. By the way. How are we doing as far as our temptations are going? I gave into temptation today.

Today is day 1 of my healthy eating challenge. Struggling right now with cravings of wanting stuff that I used to eat that I know I shouldn't have. Why does it have to be so hard to eat right. I haven't had any soda now for 11 days. I'm craving one right now. I have only been drinking water. I hate having acid reflex issues. Please pray for me that these cravings will pass. Went to see my doctor for my acid reflex issues today. He told me to go on a low acid diet and take my medicine. He wants to see me again in 3 months. I need prayers because I have no idea where to start with this diet. He told me it will take 6-8 weeks before I will see the full effects of my medication he gave me. Hope all is well with everyone. Thanks for doing that. I had a pretty good day today. Sadly my acid reflex is acting up again. I guess fresh fruit is also off limits. Have difficulty adjusting to eating better because I don't know what foods I can eat or not. I didn't have any issues at breakfast time. I am going to call my digestive doctor tomorrow. I feel I need to do so to help me get back on track. Maybe he can give me some advice on what I can eat. Keep pushing play.

Sadly I can’t eat anything with citrus in it. No Mac and cheese, soda are the triggers that I have found so far that trigger my acid reflex flair ups. Bought some fresh carrots, and non citrus fresh fruit to take to work for lunch this week. I just had chicken soup for dinner. So far that is not a trigger. Why is it so hard to eat right when you have acid reflex? This is getting very frustrating for me.

Kathryn - Good for you on the soda. I hardly drink any soda, maybe 1 a month and it's one of the small cans.

I put True Lemon in my water to add flavor, they have a lot of flavors.

Hello everyone,

It's been 7 days since I have up Diet Sunkist Soda. Trying to only drink water. I decided to do this while we were on vacation last week due to the fact that I had a major health scare while we were on vacation with acid reflex. I was in so much pain I had to go a walk in clinic. They were so nice and helped me.

Starting next week I'm eating as healthy as I can. Going to Walmart tonight to try to buy some better food for this week. Mac and cheese is my favorite food in the whole world. I only had it once when we were on vacation last week. I found out that sadly mac and cheese is one of my triggers for acid reflex.

No more mac and cheese for me I guess. I really tried to watch what I had to eat when we went out to dinner. Now that we are back home it's harder to not give into temptation. Hope everyone is doing well. Keep pushing play.

Kathryn - Glad to hear you had a good time on vacation, have a safe journey home.
Amy - Great job! You're doing great!!

Are we still going to posting here, are at the New team page?

This month I have not felt like doing much of anything that resembles a workout. I do make sure I get my steps in, but it is not a workout. I also have done the stationary bike on Sundays for an hour watching football.

So my goal for October is to get back into the swing of things. I'm going to get into the flow slowly, I will do a workout for at least 30 mins 2 to 3 times a week.

9/27 - 5.21 miles
9/26 - 5.60 miles
9/25 - 5.46 miles
9/24 - 5.14 miles
9/23 - 6.67 miles

Family vacation is over. Last night here then we drive back home tomorrow morning. Looking forward to seeing my sweet fur babies again. I have missed them both very much. Did good with my eating this week. Only was able to workout 3 times this week. But that’s better then not working out at all.
I’m also looking forward to getting back to my regular routine again. Made a small shopping list to buy better food for myself when we get back home. Hope everyone is doing well. Keep pushing play. Don’t forget your total miles are due Sunday.

Went to workout in the little fitness center that the resort has. I did 30 min on the sit down bike and 45 min on the treadmill. Going to play mini golf later. Ate leftovers for lunch from one of the dinners I had at one of the restaurants we ate at. Will be doing the same thing for dinner tonight. Keep pushing play.

HI,

Kathryn, My boyfriend has that too. Pizza, red sauce, Tomato, Hot stuff, caffeine. You can not eat that every day, Eat healthy, No pop, Not eat at night. He dose have 1 cup coffee over the weekend. when it acts up he snacks on zesta saltine crackers. You might want keep that in the house.

I finish week 2 of Jessica Smith Walk strong 3: Barre Sculpt. It is cold outside today. The rain stopped. Going Food shopping today.

Hello everyone,

Did lots of walking today outside. Looked in several shops on the marina at Harbor Town. Had ice cream with mom and dad. Both mom and I had our acid reflex bother us a little but not bad. I guess ice cream is something I can’t have anymore. We had dinner at Carrabbas Italian Grill. Really trying hard to be careful with my eating. Have no idea what I am going to do with my eating when we get back home from vacation.

Hello everyone,

Walked around the outlet malls today. Went to Longhorn Steak House for dinner. I’m really working on my flat abs. Tonight I had a ceasar salad for dinner. I took the main course home. I told my brother what I did. He was impressed. Breakfast was yogurt with flaxseed and 2 breakfast bars. Lunch was cheese crackers. May do a walking workout tonight before I go to bed. Hello everyone.

We made it Safe and Sound to Hilton Head SC. My parents had to take me to the medical clinic this morning. I was having really bad esophageal spasms due to my acid reflex issues. I was in severe pain. I’m on the mend now. Praise god. Now that I have this issue under control I will be able enjoy the rest of out family vacation. Please pray for me Far good health and strength. Life can be hard sometimes. This past week I had taste of that. When it happened I was very upset about it. I am still upset about it. But I have learned that unless people are ready and wanting to change their ways it won't happen. Each day is a new day. Through all times good and bad we have to push through no matter what life throws at us. The experience that I experienced has taught me that from now on I have to just focus on me and what I have and need to do. And not worry about anyone or anything else but myself. I do hope and pray that one day they will see the light. But until then I will keep pushing on through the hard times. Remember that God hates people who do evil and will eventually punish evil and reward the good. Keep praying. One day it will come true. It's only a matter of time. God's timing is not our timing. Anything is possible if we just believe. I wish everyone many blessings and lots of love as you and I get ready to start this new week that lies before us. Hello everyone,

Thank you for your prayers. I feel a little better today. Though I am still very mad. I have to keep remembering that God hates people who do evil things. Work was better today. I am looking forward to going on vacation to get away from all the stress that I have been under all summer long. Please continue to pray for me. Last night I did a 3 mile walk. Tonight I am going to do a 2 mile interval training walk. Keep pushing play.

Hello everyone,

Today was a pretty good day. Still struggling with eating the right things. However I'm getting the hand of portion control. I had to attend a staff meeting tonight after work. We were served dinner. Chicken tenders from Zaxbys. We were asked to provide the side dishes for the dinner. I bought from Walmart pasta salad. I only had 4 tenders and 1 serving of the pasta salad I brought to share. I put it in a container so everyone would make sure that it was homemade. I told my co workers my mom made it. One of my fellow co workers told me that my dad did right by marring my mom because she was a good cook. He ate the most of it. I told mom and dad what he said when I came home from the meeting. They thought that was so funny.

Kathryn - Sorry to hear about the pain.

I was on standby last week for jury duty, so didn't get any workouts done. Did some walking yesterday and today. Also did some cleaning.

During the NFL season I will be riding the stationary bike for at least an hour while watching my team. I also do this when I binge watch on Netflix or Amazon Prime Video.

Hello everyone,

I hope everyone is doing well. I had a good day today. Sadly I don't get a day off from work this week. I decided to work all weekend long to make up for Tuesday that I had my dental operation. Sadly my dental operation did not go well. The implant would not take. I am bummed out about it still. My mouth is hurting today because of what I had to have done on Tuesday. I have been taking over the counter pain medication. They help. But when that area hurts the whole upper side of my mouth hurts.
I will be working with no day off until we go on our family vacation at the end of the month. Trying to make up some shifts to make up for the 10 days I will be gone. Working 3 double shifts next week. Please pray for me. By the way how is everyone doing with their progress so far for this month? I posted the information for our October challenge. HI,

I am watching pretty little liars on Netflix. It is good show. Did you ever watch it, if not you might like it?

I been so lazy no working out. I am planing to start Jessica Smith Walk Strong 3 - 8 week program on Monday it going to be a challenge for me but I think I can do it. Dave told me if I start this I have to finish it then i can say I did it. I bought a play ground ball from five below store for $4. Still planing do my ride fitness bike and use my treadmill.
It is raining here.

Today I did 30 min cardio walk with strength training. I also did 30 min yoga. My mouth where I had to have my bone graft for me to be able to get my dental implant is kind of hurting tonight. So tired of all this dental stuff. Hope everyone is doing well. Keep pushing play.

I'm feeling alright today. My mouth is sore but not to bad. I was expecting on being in much more pain than this. Work was good today. Very slow today as far as kids coming into play. Tonight I'm working out to Leslie Sansone's Burn Body Fat 2 Miles with her hand weights. Have a doctors appointment tomorrow morning to get my medications renewed before we leave for vacation. Great job everyone. Right now I am in some pain now that the numbing stuff has worn off. I took a 2 hour and 30 min nap this afternoon. According to my fitbit I needed to take one. It only took my 7 min to fall asleep. I have to go back to work tomorrow. No more time off until we go on vacation at the end of the month. Will be doing 30 min of yoga tonight before I go to bed. Hello everyone,

Well there was a complication with my implant operation. When he tried to put it in it was not fitting right in the bone because the bones in my mouth are very thin due to all of the dental work I have already had done. So he did a bone graft today instead of the implant. I have to let the bone graft heal for 3 months.Then I go back in December to see how the graft is healing. My dentist said he will try a smaller implant after the graft heals.
However there is a good chance that the implant will work this time either. I have no idea what we are going to do if the implant does not work again. I'm not happy right now and very bummed out. Please pray for me during my current time of healing. Keep pushing play.

When we have super busy schedules it can be hard to work on being/getting healthy/healthier. I can totally relate to this issue. From now until I go on vacation at the end of the month I will be very busy at work trying to make up for the time I will be gone. But just because I am going to be busy that is no excuse for me not to workout and work on eating better. This week is going to be the start of my busy month. I am really going to work on not stressing out when times get tough.
For lot of people that struggle to lose weight they feel like because I am either to busy, to old, or I need to take care of everyone else in the family first. Reason 1 and 3 are understandable excuses in my opinion. Things come up and yes it can be hard to squeeze in a workout. Reason 2 is an EXCUSE. You are never to old to workout. Each day is a new day. No matter how old you are it's never to late to start a new chapter in your life. The main question is are you ready to make that change.
No one can force you to make that change. You have to have the heart, will, and want to make that change. For example. My mother has been telling us for years that she will work on getting healthier. I gave her a ultimatum last week. She kept getting short of breath while doing simple tasks. I told her I wanted to help her get better. But I could not force her to make the change. She had to be the one to make that decision.
So last week she told me that she wanted to start doing water aerobics classes twice a week the YMCA where I work as a child care provider. I told her that she had to check in with me before she went in to workout and after. On day 1 I was not totally convinced that she was going to come to workout.
She did come in and kept her promise to me that she would come to workout in the pool. I was very proud of her. She now wants to workout on the treadmill on the days she does not have water aerobics class. She told me that she really enjoys water aerobics. I told her how happy I was of her and she said thank you to me. Those words thank you were the best words a daughter could here.
So with all this being said. It is never to late to start to make a change. Only you can decide if you are ready or not. I hope this blog post has helped motivate you to get up and move. Remember that you do matter and you are important. So believe in yourself. Please share this blog post with all you know need motivation to push play. Have a great week.

OCTOBER 2018 CHALLENGE INFORMATION GUIDE
(TEMPTATION/TERROR CHALLENGE)

Hello everyone. Because I am going to be super busy the whole month of September 2018. I wanted to post our challenge information guide for October now. That way everyone can be prepared to take part in the October challenge. Please let me know if you have any questions at anytime.

ABOUT THIS CHALLENGE: Welcome to the annual Temptation/Terror Challenge. This is the hardest challenge of the Step it up challenge season. The holiday season is here. There are lots of temptations out there to try to hurt our hard work that we have worked hard to achieve so far this year. But temptation can't hurt us if we don't have those temptations around the house. So with this being said. Here are the rules for this years challenge. Please let me know if you have any questions.

(1) NO CANDY, SWEETS, JUNK FOOD AT ANYTIME THE ENTIRE MONTH OF OCTOBER. WE WILL POST AT THE END OF EACH DAY IF WE GAVE INTO TEMPTATION OR DIDN'T GIVE INTO TEMPTATION. NO WORRIES IF YOU SLIP UP. THAT HAPPENS TO ALL OF US. BUT TRY YOUR BEST TO NOT GIVE INTO TEMPTATION THE ENTIRE MONTH OF OCTOBER.

(2) AT THE START OF THE MONTH WE WILL POST YOUR STARTING MEASUREMENTS ON DAY ONE. WE WILL SHARE THESE WITH THE GROUP. AT THE END OF THE MONTH WE WILL POST OUR END OF THE MONTH MEASUREMENTS WITH THE GROUP. BY DOING THIS WE WILL SEE WHAT HAPPENS IF WE GIVE UP BAD FOOD, ETC FOR A WHOLE MONTH. WE WILL CONTINUE TO POST OUR WORKOUT ACCOUNTABILITY FOR EACH DAY THE SAME WAY WE HAVE BEEN POSTING THEM. BUT WE WILL ADD IF WE GAVE INTO TEMPTATION OR DIDN'T WITH IT.

(3) CREATE FOR YOURSELF YOUR OWN WORKOUT PLAN. USING A BLANK CALENDAR WE WILL MAKE FOR OURSELVES OUR OWN PERSONAL PLAN TO HELP US STAY ON TRACK AND STAY ACCOUNTABLE WITH OUR WORKOUTS ALL MONTH LONG.

(4) WE WILL CONTINUE TO KEEP TRACK OF OUR MILES ALL MONTH LONG. REMEMBER THAT THE PERSON WHO WALKS THE MOST MILES IN ONE YEAR WINS THE TITLE OF ULTIMATE STEPPER.

BONUS CHALLENGE: With it being Halloween. (My favorite holiday of the year) I thought it would be fun to have a little costume contest. The person who posts the scariest picture of themselves in their Halloween Costume will win a special prize. I will create for them their very own personal workout plan in calendar form for them to use as their workout plan for the month of November for our annual 5K challenge.
Our November challenge will be called 5K Turkey Walk Challenge. More information at the end of October 2018. Anyway On Halloween night you will post your picture of you in your costume and post it by 8:00 PM CDT. The winner will be announced/posted on Halloween night at 10:00 PM CDT. Or before I go to bed that night.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION TO REMEMBER DURING THIS CHALLENGE: If there is any part of the challenge or any challenge during the challenge season that you don't feel comfortable doing you don't have to do it or post it. This challenge group is meant to be safe, fun, and motivational. Remember that all ways and forms of walking count for the Step it up challenge. This is a no judgment challenge group.

As always please share this challenge information with anyone that needs motivation to get up and move. This challenge group is for everyone of all fitness levels. It would be great if we had more people joining us to help us stay accountable. So please share this challenge group with others on Sparkpeople. Hello everyone,

I hope everyone is doing well. Today I took on several extra shifts at work to make up for the time I will be away on our family vacation. I'm going to be very busy from now until vacation. Plus I will be getting my dental implant redone on September 4th. I will be hurting after the numbing stuff wears off. But no pain no gain right?
Tonight's workout will be Hot Body Yoga. I will post my total miles for today before I go to bed. I hope everyone has a blessed, and safe Labor Day weekend. Sadly I have to work on Labor Day. 30 min of yoga. Total miles for today is 5.34. I have created my own calendar workout plan. For this week and the whole month of September I will be doing Leslie’s Burn Body Fat DVD’s and 2 times a week Hot Body Yoga dvd. I will be using these workouts while on vacation.
My mom started doing water aerobics classes again at the YMCA where I work as a child care worker. She told me that she will be doing water aerobics 2 times a week. I’m proud of her. Hope everyone is doing well. Keep pushing play.

Hello everyone,

This past week I decided to do something for myself that I feel is working. For the whole month of August I created a workout plan for myself. I stuck with it for all of August 2018. My family have told me that they have noticed a big difference in the way I look now. I thought to myself WOW what I am doing must be working well. So for the whole month of September and the last week of this month I typed up my own workout plan. I went on my teachers website where I get ideas to teach my little students and I used a blank online fill in the blank calendar and created my own workout plan.
I have it typed up, printed out, and hanging on my wall in my bedroom. I am going to follow it all month long. I will let you know the results I get after the end of September. So create your own plan and follow it. You never know what results you will see if you create your own plan and follow it. Hope you liked this weeks blog post. Please share your thoughts.
