I am a widow and live alone. And I am a walker. I walk 5 miles every morning. I have met a lot of really nice dog walkers doing this. And made some new friends. So walk away and you never know you might have company before long.....

Just include that information in the FBook community pages. You never know, there may be a lot more people who would rather do this seeing it as an outing, rather than exercise. Sometimes the latter tends to put some people off.
One of the problems I have when walking is I walk slow and my Buster gets to be off leash and if he stops to smell I stop also. many of my friends are fast walkers and get impatient when I stop. There are a few people I can walk with who do not mind.

I spent many great hours walking my dog.... early mornings for sunrise started my days out great...and a late evening walk often ended it nicely. On weekends...off to the forests or parks. You might check out with your local humane society if they know of groups getting together to walk... ;) patti

I am glad you have Buster to help you get out and get moving. My Pug, Odie, on the other hand, is a total couch potato. especially during the Minnesota winter.
If you really want to find other humans to hike with, Kris gave you a couple of great ideas. Other ideas are local church groups, community centers, and park districts. There's also an app called "meetup" and you might be able to find local hiking groups there.

There are a lot of members who take their 4-legged friends for a walk with them. For some the dog is their motivator.
Do you belong to Facebook? If so, perhaps you could join some local community pages and ask there if anyone would like to go for walk with you, or if others would like to start a walking/hiking group. I know a few members on SparkPeople belong to hiking groups and really enjoy it.
Good morning, I live alone with my black lab., buster and he and I love to walk and hike. Since I can not find any one around me that likes to walk and hike the way Buster and I do, Buster has become my motivator. Does anyone else walk with a dog and hike lots of miles with their dog.
