How's the weekend going for everyone? Quiet and peaceful here... Got some walking in yesterday, calories slightly high but nothing to get too excited about.... Hubby is back from traveling so keeping calories down this week will be a bit more challenging but it's doable... More sunshine, more snow melting here.. has felt like almost springlike - although I just heard there's the possibility for more coming Monday/Tuesday... Haven't gotten on the yoga mat this weekend but I'm off in a few to hit the walking again today. All-in-all, not a bad weekend. I hope yours has been good, too! Take care MM

If day two is that difficult then you are likely changing way too many things all at once. It can take six weeks of effort to change just one habit and how you eat is made up of hundreds of decisions you forgot you made and little things that you do to make your day flow more easily. In other words, switching from cereal for breakfast to eggs and vegetables is a simple swap, right? Not really. If you usually eat cereal and milk then you already know how much milk you use in a week and you are subconsciously checking to see if you need to restock it. You might not know how many eggs are in your fridge or if they are fresh enough to use. You probably don't know what vegetables you have on hand that would be quick and easy in a breakfast egg dish. You likely aren't waking up early enough to prep the veg and cook the eggs. You may not have many quick cooking egg and veg dishes in your repertoire. You might not have the utensils and cooking vessels handy and you might need to find or wash them. You might not remember to make quiche in advance of you needing an egg and veg dish in the morning. It will likely take you a while to learn the volume of eggs and vegetables that you need to keep on hand to not have to keep running to the store on an emergency run and still minimize spoilage. It's one little change that take a small army of little choices to support it. And just about everything that you do is like that. If I told you that you had to start stopping by the drugstore across town before you went to work every morning, how often do you think that you would forget, backtrack, miss it altogether or be late for work? A lot. You do what you do by default because you have determined that it was the easiest and best way to do things, and everything that you do but don't realize that you do is something that helps keep the status quo. It takes a long time and a lot of work to build up another option to be the best and easiest for you.

It's not something that you are going to change for good in a day, a week a month, and you likely won't be at the end game in a year. When you hit those difficulties in day two, you need to be writing them down and brainstorming an alternate solution that fits better with your lifestyle. These issues and difficulties that crop up are literally your to do list for what you need to work on to get everything worked out in the long run. You don't need to power through something that isn't the right fit for you, you need to start looking for something else that works better for you.

-google first. ask questions later.

How is everyone doing this week? Struggling the last two days - nothing like a sick kiddo and a hubby out of town to throw everything to heck-in-a-handbasket... Eating better but not great today... Trying to get motivated to pull out a walking DVD after my son's sax lesson tonight.....

I love how everyone's lives are so different.. for me, my weekends are more routine than my weeks and it's when I find the most time for myself. Was looking forward to Yin yoga tonight but one of my kiddos is sick so I'm sticking close to home tonight.. Hopefully I'll be able to get in a stretch or restorative class this weekend..... Ate a somewhat healthy garlic pasta with shrimp and spinach tonight.... hopefully that offsets the "stress" chocolate I had earlier today..... :-/

Consistency is always key, but so hard to do. The weekends are the toughest for me as my routine gets totally out of whack. All we can do is take it one day at a time and do our best. Good luck everyone!

Hello! So glad you stopped by.... yeah, the first two days were great - kept the calories on track and got the exercise in..... day three the calories got a bit away from me and no exercise... day four, sigh, sick kid, husband traveling, short staffed at work, you can imagine how things have gone today.... :-( Just need to keep reminding myself that tomorrow is a new day and a new beginning. Again.

Good luck, Momma! I can totally relate to what you're saying. Sadly, the knowing and the sticking with it are worlds apart for me, as well. I'm on Day 2, too. If you're looking for a buddy, pls feel free to add me!

Starting is always easy.. finding the motivation to stay with it, not so much! I know what I'm supposed to do but doing it isn't always easy. If you know what that feels like, drop on in here and let's do this together!! Cheers for the good days, support for the not so good ones...

So far for me - Day #2 today of another try... and so far, so good. Keeping calories around where they should be (hard as I'm an emotional eater) and got my exercise in both days (walking is my primary exercise, yoga is my passion). Going to reward myself with some reading time before bed (avid reader!!)..... Hoping that tomorrow is a good day.

How was YOUR day?
Namaste
