Thanks for the pep talks! I gave myself 48 hours for a pity party and then I got out my resistance bands and did a seated workout.

I am going to focus on nutrition for the next six weeks, and try to use the extra time from not working out to get some things organized for work--lesson plans, cleaning up the files on my computer, etc. If I can't have my open water swim as a goal, I'll just have to make some new, achievable goals. emoticon

So, let me start with... you LOOK faboulus!! The part that must change here, depsite all the choas is the feeling faboulus. That is the mental perception that you have to change in order to make things work during this 'chaotic' time.

Maybe a few words of advise... as soon as your doctor will let you... water walking is a great thing... or even water swimming. I have one lady who uses a drag weight on her feet and uses her arms to pull her through the water. In water aerboics, as much as you don't want to, slow it down greatly.

The fitness will help, but 90% of everything right now with you and your bum foot is going to be nutrition. Watching calories, intake, water, etc, is going to be the key to helping you greatly!

Take the time to slow down, evaluate what you need and determine how best to make those goals a reality.

Remember... it's not about the end result, it's all about the journey!

Hi there!

Sounds like a bummer!

This is what I usually do to last time pass by when I know I may need rest and still have some motivation in my life:)

Get some magazines..in your situation if its hard to go to the store find your phone/tablet/laptop and just go through the fashion sections of Instyle magazine.

www.instyle.com

So while you are resting if you are losing some weight or even gain a little, plan you future wardrobe!

Also get some herbal teas, these usually keep you calm.. you can order from amazon.com . I like chamomile and after 1 minute and thirty seconds in the microwave i drink it and I am focused ..aka fantastic!

A diffuser, usually in the discount section of a supermarket or on amazon is amazing .. don't forget to get a good smelling oil for the diffuser to put in the water.

Other thank that take the time to recognize who you are and be grateful. Life is filled with challenges ..BUT you can MAKE IT!

Ugh! You have been dealing with a lot! So sorry your fractured your foot. Of course, you can monitor your nutrition like a hawk. As your foot heals, maybe you can focus on ways to maintain some fitness? There is a limited mobility section in the fitness area.

So I started the school year (as a teacher I always view back to school as the start of a new year) with great intentions. I was in the pool 3-4 days a week, I was tracking, I was getting good sleep; things were great and I felt really good. People were stopping me to tell me how great I looked, and my clothes were starting to get too big. Then in mid-October I got a lower respiratory infection that didn't clear up until Christmas. I was barely dragging myself to work, trying to stay within my calorie range, and not working out at all. Since Christmas I have been back in the pool, working my way back up to my old routine, and FINALLY, on Sunday,, managed to get two miles in. Everything was fantastic!

And on Monday I fractured my foot.

Six weeks in the boot, minimal walking, blah blah blah. If it heals correctly within the six weeks life goes on as normal, if it doesn't, I need surgery to have a screw put in there. So obviously, I am going to be as good of a patient as possible.

I'm trying to have a good attitude about this. To remind myself that it could be worse--the surgeon could have put the pin in already, it could be shattered, etc. In the total scheme of things I am lucky. But I am depressed as hell. I was so focused, so excited about swimming. I had an open water swim planned for March and now I can't train for it. I have a reunion coming up and I wanted to look and feel fabulous.
