Well done on losing weight over a challenging time! I like cauliflower as a replacement for rice/potatoes/pizza crust. Try Caulipower pizza in frozen foods. It is tasty and only 380 calories for half a pizza pie.
Pep talk for today — Today is a ‘no excuses’ day. When your internal voice says you’re going to put off what you should do, you can tell that voice that you don’t listen to ANY voice that underestimates what you can do, not even your own.
Wait! Think! You know that mindless eating is a problem, right? WORK on that. Every time you head to eat, make it a point to decide if you are truly hungry, if you will eat something your body needs, and if there are other ways to deal with whatever emotion you're feeling. Let's do this. Let's take control of our actions and our food. You can do this. Just wait and think.
To repeat the message of the original post: this is a place to read and post pep talks. We all need them and we can all give them! So many of us have spent our lives telling ourselves how stupid or fat or messed up or terrible or whatever we are -- we say things that we would NEVER say to anyone else we love. Here is the place to start changing those messages into positive messages.
You are WONDERFUL whether you think so or not. Remind yourself of that!
Persistence pays off. Keep going. You're going to make it because you're going to keep with it. You love how it feels as you lose weight and become strong and healthy -- keep that feeling with you. You may not have developed the right habits yet, but keep pretending you have and eventually they will BECOME your habits.
My stand-up sets are all based on my experiences living in countries around the world and my career that took me those places. I do make fat jokes as part of my set, which I hope I will not be able to do much longer. One of the hardest things about being a comedian is when people essentially tell me, "Say something funny!" There is a lot of work that goes into developing a new set and it has to come from something. If I ever do find myself doing a set about weight loss, I'll definitely post it on SP.
OK, today's pep talk is very specific to me. If anyone else gets anything from it, that's great, but I have something to tell myself:
Hey, you! You're going to be GREAT tonight! Your stand-up set, the sketch, the Harold, it's all going to be a lot of fun. You're FUNNY! You left them laughing and wanting more the last time you did stand up, you can do it this time, too. This show is going to be such a success! Knock 'em dead!
Someone always has a worse situation to yours. That doesn't mean you don't have it hard, too! It's OK to complain when, yes, things are hard. Let it out. Then, figure out what you're going to do about that, break it down into small steps, and do that. It sounds like that's what you're doing, LivelyGirl.
Stick with it! Don't give up! You CAN keep going and you WILL keep going because going back to where you were is not what you want for yourself. You're learning new ways to look at food and fitness and those lessons ARE paying off, even if you don't see the immediate results in the scale. You're feeling better, your clothes are fitting better, you have more energy... Keep it up! You rock!
For Livelygirl, it is good to see you are staying with this, too. Supporting one another is what this thread is all about, and your comments really help a lot. Thank you!
No fooling -- you've got this! You know what to do. The hard part? Paying attention! It's so easy to let yourself stop paying attention when your inner voice says to go eat and you just go grab something. Don't do it! Log every bite. That will make you think about it and when you think about it you eat better.
Plateaus are a pain but you know what? That plateau weight you've hit is someplace you desperately wanted to be not so long ago.
When you break through this plateau, you are going to be SO glad you stuck with it and didn't give up. You're going to look back at this time and be proud of how you listened to all the plateau advice, took it, and broke through! You can do it! You will!
well you know the golden rule probably and pay it forward... well blessings will collide into your path. Or should I say, you sow what you reap. Okay, so you got off track off the sidewalk or path, briefly.
your usually hugging us by your inspiration, so watch out, its going to boomerang back to ya. Don't get knocked over.
This just endears us toward you, we all trip or get side tracked. It can be a nuisance at times.
I mean, we want to eat anything we want, and not exercise (LOL ). Rather nap on the couch.
Coming here today to read the pep talks already here -- I need some. I've really stumbled. I'm not stopping. I'm not giving up. I'm already back on today tracking and exercising, but I need to pick up some pep talks today so that I don't look backwards over the last few days. Forwards!
YOU are worth it. You help other people. You are kind. You work hard. You have a sense of humour. Think of all the things that you do every day -- there are people who are lucky you are there for them! Your fitness is only one part of who you are, and it's not the most important part. You need to be fit to be better able to do all those other things you have in your life, it's true, but those other things are the real key to who you are.
Take time to notice the good you do in the world, and stop beating yourself up over your mistakes. No one is perfect, but you are wonderful.
today I made a good choice for my lunch out. Whereas several days ago, I ate several handfuls of Traders Joes baby cookies. It would of been fine, if I didn't eat so many. I was tired for nearly 2 days.
I must certainly think that the Spark Community is very supportive. I know we have all sorts of beliefs. I just thought since this area is entitled , " Staying Motivated, pep talks..... I wished to express my thoughts.
I attempted to share my ideas respectfully, and thought of how I could say this and not offend or step on toes. I wanted to share my opinion, because it is beneficial to some.
I also lost my best friend and mom. This helps me stay more on target. However, I am trying to get better to get more consistent. I assume this is a goal that unifies us.
Whether you believe in G-d, or some other 'higher power', you are not alone on this journey, LivelyGirl2.
For some people, the 'higher power' is the community here on SparkPeople. You can feel the warmth, the support, the caring. Our community includes people of all faiths, including people who do not follow any faith. What we share is greater than what divides us or, as Maya Angelou said, "We are more alike, my friend, than we are unalike." Don't be afraid to share what works for you! We all look at what the community says, take what works for us, and let the rest be.
So, today's pep talk is, "If you haven't found what works for you, keep looking! If you've found something that does, keep doing that! We are stronger together!"
It's not a sprint -- it's a marathon. One step, one meal, one day becomes two steps, two meals, two days... Stay focused on what you're doing for yourself right now. You can do it and you ARE worth it.
"You're a true Original! Just like a wondrous snowflake, you're quite beyond compare, with kindness of spirit, so precious and so rare. You have such a love for living, with a sparkle of your own, and a special way of caring that belongs to you alone. A miracle from heaven, you have to know it's true - you make this world beautiful, just by being you!" (Unknown)
"We are all like a snowflake ~ all different in our own beautiful way." ~Unknown~ Have a wonderful week and let's finish February Sparker Strong!!
The best cure for stressing is to count your blessings...and a long walk won't hurt either!
Never give up what you want the MOST for what you want at the MOMENT!
You messed up. OK. You know how GOOD it feels when you don't let that derail you for good. You know how GOOD it feels to show yourself that taking care of yourself is your new normal and messing up is OK if you don't let it change your new normal.
You're going to make it because you're not letting things like this get bigger. You're going to make it because you love how it feels when you're taking care of your health. You're going to make it because you CAN!
Hey, you! Stop saying those things to yourself! You would NEVER let a friend talk to another friend the way you're talking to yourself, so why put up with it when someone speaks to you that way, even you? You ARE worth it. You ARE working hard at it. You ARE taking steps. You ARE smart enough, strong enough, dedicated enough to make it. You ARE NOT a failure. You ARE a wonderful, interesting, loved person and you ARE going to do this. Let yourself know how much you love you.
FIDWTE -- Food I Don't Want To Eat (Pronounced "Fidwit" or "Fidwits" in plural.)
You are not a rubbish bin. You are not a food disposal. Those are where you put FIDWTEs. Not into you! If you eat it, it doesn't keep it from going to waste/waist. It doesn't feed starving people anywhere in the world. Buy less next time! Or don't buy it at all! FIDWTEs are anything that won't actually make you feel good when you eat them. FIDWTEs are anything that interferes with your goals for your health and fitness. FIDWTEs are anything that will set you to craving other FIDWTEs. FIDWTEs are leftovers you never got around to eating. You are worth far more than some flippin' FIDWTE.

I meant for my comment "i'm so glad this is here" to post here, not at the top of the thread:-) It's late, and I'm tired ...I've been here WAYYY long enough to know my post would go to the top of a thread, not comment on the one I wanted to, like FB. I was/am glad lots of stuff is here, but was referring to "Just keep swimming" from Dory:-) It was "one of those days"...and this is a cool thread. Thank you. I read a bit from your Sparkpage, Casey. You helped. Best wishes--both to you and to all of us.........

Ok. You can do this!Open a couple of windows, let that fresh air stream in. Get that hair out of your face, wash your face and moisturize. Stand up straight. You've got this! Count to five and just do what you have to do, giving yourself no option to think about whether to do it or not.

It is so heartwarming to see the people coming here and posting and taking pep talks. The support of the SP community is outstanding.
I'm sure it's pretty clear by now that all my pep talks are primarily aimed at myself, focusing on things I'm dealing with, but they're universal, aren't they? We all stumble, we all struggle, we all focus on what we're doing wrong instead of what we're doing right.
Anyway, here's my pep talk for today:
That little voice in your head that's telling you that you can't keep it up? Don't listen to it! You've seen all those people who've reached their goals, right? How many of them made it to their goal on the first try? I'm guessing zero. Yes, you've made progress before and lost it, but not this time. You've GOT it this time. You're going to hold onto it this time. You're not listening to that little voice because it does not have your best interests in heart. You're going to drown out that voice with your voice that LOVES you!
Hello, wonderful person! Don't think you're wonderful? You're WRONG! You may not be perfect, but you keep trying, you keep going, you keep picking yourself up, you keep learning, and you keep your eye on where you are going. That's WONDERFUL! Instead of beating yourself up, celebrate the fact that whatever you did is NOT going to derail you. You've GOT this!
You don't have to do it all today. All it takes is one step today. You can do one step! The whole journey may be too much, but one step today is enough. One step is AMAZING progress, because it takes you one step closer to your goals and one step further from whatever is holding you back.
Tomorrow, you can take that second step, but for today, take the first one.
You are in this for the long haul. You don't want to take it all off just to have it all come back again. You're making lifestyle changes, and that means that sometimes there will be bumps in the road. It's hard to change habits formed over a lifetime, so celebrate the steps you have taken. For one, you're here! That's already ahead of all the people who haven't made a positive step to start working on their health. Take another step, and another, and another, and one day you WILL reach your goal!
Are you struggling today? That's ok. We all struggle. No one is perfect and we all have days where motivation is weak and our resolve seems to be hiding. We all have days where we have to really fight to avoid that delicious looking quesadilla for lunch (and, guess what, sometimes we fail!)
But it's ok. Your worth is not determined by a choice. Your journey is more than a single step sideways. Maybe you stumbled, but you are strong and can get back on track. Avoid feeling that all the celebratory posts on the community feed means that you're the only one having to work through cravings for junky food.
You've got this. You are determined and worthy.

You have overcome so much in life! You've faced obstacles and come out the other side. You may have scars, but you're healing and you know you are strong enough to survive. Your past does not have to dictate your future. You ROCK!
You're upset about something? It means you CARE. That's a good thing. The best way you're going to deal with it is by taking care of yourself. When you are healthy, taking care of everything else becomes easier. Take that upset you're feeling and use it to make a change!
You are WAY ahead of where you would have been if you hadn't started. Just being here on SP shows you know what to do and you're going to do it. You may be struggling, but keep struggling and you're going to make it.
one must love yourself to care enough to do something about any issue you are having . we are worthy of that. God gave us this body to take care of.If one loathes themselves you will never get anywhere but into more misery !!
Wow! You are an AMAZING PERSON who has decided to care of your health and fitness. That's one unstoppable person right there. You're not the sort to let any set backs or plateaus or ANYTHING get in your way when you are protecting someone you love, and you have decided to protect and love YOURSELF!
(Post pep talks for others, and come read pep talks when you need one.)
