Thanks, I don't know why belts never occur to me :)

I did order 2 tops, we'll see how they look.

Have you watched any episodes of What Not to Wear? It ran on TLC and has some good ideas. Episodes are on YouTube.

Hi guys. Thanks for the thoughts. I should have specified that I already took the skirt to the mall and didn't find anything to go with it. I even used a personal shopper at Macy's, but no luck. We just couldn't find the right shape top in my size. Being barely plus has its disadvantages. I've never tried chicos, I can look there. I figured there are so many more options online, so I thought I'd order some stuff and take a shot, I was just hoping people could weigh in on the shapes I might go for it more stores to try. To answer your question, I'm medium busted, but proportionally small thanks to the booty :)

I agree with LuAnn - the best way to see what looks good is to wear the skirt when you are trying on tops. Are you also larger busted. If not, a crop or waist length sweater might work very well.

Chicos has a product online called the "sweater pullover" - it's a shorter length to wear with maxi skirts and comes in black and white ( alabaster). Right now it's even on sale.

A sales person in the store where you bought your skirt could help as could a sales person in other stores that carry your size. Today many clothes are "oversize" so you may not even have to look at the plus sizs.

Have some fun with this.

You best bet is to load yourself and your skirt into your car and try tops on in the stores.

Hi everyone. I'm trying to learn to embrace my curves as I struggle to lose weight. I grew up hiding in baggy clothes. I bought a long clingy black skirt that is just outside my comfort zone. My bf loves it and I really want to wear it, but I struggle finding a top that I find flattering. I want to feel sexy (not slutty) and confident.
I'm a bit pear shaped, about a 1x. I have a short torso and a high waist. I know I should emphasize my waist. Most skirts like this are shown with tucked in tops or crop tops. Tucked in things never look good on me and no way I'm wearing a crop top lol.
Here is a similar looking skirt and some tops I'm considering. I can order multiple things and return them, I'm just looking for opinions first.

And some tops on torrid. There are tons, here are a few: http://www.torrid.com/product/gauze-lace-inset-tank-top/10835421.html?cgid=tops-shirts

I'm wary of going too boxy. I feel a wrap top with a good v would look good, but I can't find anything. Thoughts?
Thank you!
