I am on this journey because I was not happy with me and the reflection I was seeing in the mirror. My top weight was almost 400 pound and I only stand 5 feet 1, so I really look and feel fat. I am not sure where this journey is going to take me, but the final goal is to have me in a better place physically, mentally, all around.

One pound at a time it is coming off!!!!

I'm on this journey because giving up is a terrible place to be. I don't live there anymore.

I'm on this journey because I have a gait problem (peripheral non-diabetic neurapathies) and I want to have my husband be able to lift me easily. He can now but it's an effort.

I'm on this journey b/c I need to get my type 2 diabetes under control. I don't want to be insulin dependent.

I'm on this journey because I am happier, more energetic, and just see life in a more positive light when I am eating right and active (activity is HUGE for this for me).

The motivator to get (back to now - I was about there when I - fairly badly - broke my leg back in Dec) into REALLY good shape is my motorcycle racing. There's enough going on in that environment, you're on the ragged edge of traction, your skills, and your mental processing that having to also worry about my physical abilities slows me down dramatically. It also affects my ability to control the bike at those speeds, and my new race bike is an unforgiving beast that, in my present condition, owns me because I am just not fit enough to ride it like it should be - or fit enough to free up that part of my mind so I can focus on learning to ride the bike to it's abilities. Instead, I'm busy managing my own fitness and having to worry about tiring out too early :(

Lately, things have gotten rough.

My father just found out he has pre-diabeetes, my mother has really bad heart complications, and they are both obese.
I just went thru a horrible break up, and I gained back the 20 pounds I'd already lost.

I've decided to get back on track to get healthy, and to find out how to love myself again.

Now that I'm in my 60's (!) those "aging" medical issues keep popping up.

My Journey started some 10 years ago with a Pre-Diabetes diagnosis, although I wasn't in Spark at the time but working with a Registered Dietician. Lost my initial 20+ pounds...and have pretty well kept those off! AND--my Pre-Diabetes has stayed in control.

Since then, as various maladies have come to visit --gout, osteoarthritis being the most notable-- its become clear to me that I needed to continue my weight loss Journey, increase my exercise...and eat in a more healthy manner. That conclusion is reinforced when I look at aging co-workers, family, and friends who have not made those decisions. This IS my Lifestyle now and will remain so.

I'm on this journey because I hate the way I see my body. I hate sweating under my belly roll. I hate being a size 16. I'm on this journey because 35 years ago I lost weight on the old fashioned WW and I was so proud and I want to feel that again.

I watched my mother live a very difficult life and die young due to morbid obesity. I don't want that to happen to me.

It's hard to keep motivated all of the time and sometimes you forget why you started this journey. Once it's in black and white it's hard to forte why you started. It's also good to see what motivates others
