Mary, I'm one of the last people on the planet who would normally suggest this, but if you don't wish to move your mom, I would tell the staff that there will be a lawsuit if that woman is ever seen in your mother's room again. I, too, am floored that they would escort her out, and then allow her back in! What's with that? And - to allow her to enter an elderly woman's room to demand payment? That is just beyond the pale. I would start the threats.

There - that's my morning contribution....LOL! Everyone have a good day. Dark, windy and rainy here, but not cold.

God bless,
Pam

Just a quick hello due to more family drama. I have other emails to respond to and check on . When I got home from Cherilyn's last night after a delightful Halloween my 4th sister called to say that the woman who was escorted out of my mother's room last week had come to her room last night, saying she wanted to be paid! She is WORKING across the hall from my mother and why they let her back in, none of us know! I am floored that the place allowed this. And so worried about my mother. We don't want to move her. This is the nicest place in Beaumont and she is very comfortable there. But we've never had a situation like this.

My party was pretty much a bust. There wasn't enough food and one mother went to other classrooms asking for leftovers! We had organic plain crackers, cheese in plastic that the kids couldn't open, and bags of precut apples. Then one mother brought in Cuties. That's it. No cupcakes or cookies until that one mom ran around begging. We ended up with cheese sandwiches and cupcakes/cookies but since they didn't 'match' most of the kids wanted BOTH! I was exhausted when the day was done. Wild Child's mom was in charge and she wasn't there. Bummer...

Chris is coming in tonight and my nail appt. was changed to after school today. So it will be another busy afternoon. Hopefullly I can get back with y'all late today.

TGIF and a brand new month!

Mary

We got rid of one big bowl of candy-have one left. I guess they have school tomorrow or folks have been going to the trunk or treat parties all over town. Grandson came over to pass out candy while his sister with trick or treating with a friend and mom and dad following. Larry made me a grilled cheese for dinner and I did a few exercises but haven't done much else today.

G'evening gang,

Sandra, a Kobo is the Canadian e-reader. Leah got it all set up for me and ordered the next Diana Gabaldon book for me on the Kobo. It's so exciting! LOL! But the dang things are so touch sensitive! Arg...

Leah is out at a friend's Halloween party, and so far, I've had 3 kids - just 3! And I have a bowl of 50 wee chocolate bars waiting. I wasn't surprised really. We don't normally get many kids, but the weather was awful, so a lot of kids didn't come out at all.

Back to books. Have any of you gals read the Diana Gabaldon Outlander series?

My first day at the new school working their after school care today. It was very busy and it's a huge program. I'm exhausted.

I think Kerry you thought Whitney found a new job. She is still working at her job as a life guard. I'm the one looking for a new job.

Hope you are all having a good evening. I 'm off to bed.

It was just the nurse this morning for vitals and redressing the wound. She called last night and asked what the earliest was she could come. I'm guessing I was first on her list because she lives fairly close by. I was awake at 6 and got out of bed about 7 so it was fine.

Sandra, at least around here the nurses still get a cap at graduation even if they don't wear it at work. That doctor wasn't as funny as he thought he was!

Trish and I managed to get the pumpkins carved. Now we either need batteries for the light I usually use or find a big candle to sit in there though since we haven't changed time yet most of the little ones will be back home before they get to see them lit up. I'm wondering if the kids aren't going to be heading out later just because it's NOT dark. That's one reason it's fun. I wish we could just keep the time the same and if folks want to go home an hour early than do so-work through lunch or get the boss to change the schedule Can't say everyone can do that but a lot can. The old excuses that it was to help farmers was baloney! Everyone knows farmers work sunrise to sundown and the clock doesn't matter at all. Oh well, enough on that. Looks like it's clouding up a bit.

Hello to all,
It is rainy here bit not the big storms that Houston and San Antonio has had. It is such a mess for them. DH pointed out last night that it had been 45 years ago that we met. Our first date would be Saturday. I would never have remembered that. I can't believe that I have stayed with him that long.

Kerry, that is awful early for rehab to be coming. Do you want them that early? I would not like it that early but then not all people are like me and don't appreciate the early mornings.
Pam, glad to hear you had a good Birthday. I also love chinese but have never lived any where that delivered. DH does not like chinese so he would never order it anyway. I have never heard of a kobo but I do hope you enjoy it as much as I do my nook! I love it.

Donna, I don't blame you, I have never thought about that danger before, I only dressed up when I worked at the clinic. One year I went as a nurse, ha, ha. I wore my white uniform and my real nurses cap. One of the younger Dr's asked me if I got it an antique shop. He was very embarrassed when I told him it was the one I wore to work the first 5 years I was a nurse. The next year I again wore my white uniform and pinned a giant white pom pom on the back and wore a head band with rabbit ears. I don't remember what I was the first year. It couldn't be anything scary because I tended to babies.

Mary enjoy your short day, and stay dry. I certainly understand the sister thing. I,m sure most families have one like that. I know I do.

Sue, I love frozen candy bars. They would not be safe from me in the freezer. When you are talking about the "kids" quilts, are you making them smaller?

Pat, hope you have a good weekend and get to see the new little man.
Well now to check my email.
Sandra

Happy Halloween everyone! emoticon emoticon
My nurse was here at 8 am so I'm free for the day now. I have a friend who's going to try and stop by after her doctor appointment and Trish is here all day. I cut the tops off the two giant pumpkins Larry brought home last night and Trish cleaned them out-the worst part of the job! Now I need to go do some carving-I think we're each doing one but first I really do need to have some healthy type food. I had some more of the fresh fruit for breakfast but never got the protein part of the meal.
Pam, they made strollers for taking kids around town-easier on the old backs! I think carrying babies is one of the reasons so many women have bad backs-especially carrying them on one hip so we have the other hand free to do everything else. Congrats on finally getting someone willing to deliver to your town! We lived in a small town in the middle of Nebraska and I remember how exciting it was when McDonalds came to town. lol
Mary, I hope you school day and party go well-lots of fun for everyone.
Donna, hope you have managed to be productive. emoticon I love seeing all the kids in their costumes. We're not seeing as many older teens around here but they are usually very polite kids so I never worry about that. Of course, I also have someone else in the house with me. I know my widowed neighbor doesn't pass out candy anymore but part of that is just missing jack.
Sue, hope all is well in your area and have a happy Halloween.
Oh, Marylou, congrats to Whitney on her new job. Better to do something you like with a little less pay than to hate what you're doing for more and hopefully she will get raises as time goes by.

You all are a lot nicer than me. I will be hiding in my bedroom with all the house lights off. I don't like to hand out candy when I am alone. You just never know who is behind the costume.

Happy Halloween! I did not dress up. Never was very big on doing that and it interferes with my ability to do my job when I don't have the pockets that I need.

Kerry: Take all the help at home you can get. You are not a lazy person and you need to recover with all the help you need.

Mary: Have fun with the twins and trick or treating.

I have been eating my way through this week. UGH! Not good.

Pam: Sounds like you had a great birthday. That was nice of everyone to make it special for you.

Ok, I am at work and gotta go do something productive.

Just a quick hello - and Happy Halloween! If you look at the Intellicast Radar you'll note it's going to be a very wet one for a lot of people, including us. Ah well.

My back is still really sore this morning. It was fine all night. As soon as I'd been on my feet for a few minutes, it started to "crackle" again.

Have a good day folks!

Thursday already? Ok, my day of rest is over. Need to make today a productive day. Still have lots of work to do on my quilts. Haven't even started the last grandchild one. Starting out with a gray, murky morning, but not cold. Wind and rain due to arrive late tonight, hopefully after Trick or Treat time. I have more than enough candy, but needed to be prepared just in case more than the normal "just a few" Tricksters appear. Now I need to find a place to distribute the leftovers. Use to send it to work with DH, but he's retired now. Then again, frozen MilkyWays and frozen Snickers are not too bad. Hmmm.

Oh, Pam, two great gifts, and both unexpected! How wonderful that there's a take out---and Chinese is always on my list. I'm thrilled you didn't have to cook last night. Good for your family. And I'm sure you'll love the Kobo. i'm assuming it's like a Kindle or Nook! Great things all around. I didn't have your address....had a card all ready last weekend and never PM'd you for your address! Let me know and I'll put you on my Christmas card list. I thought I had it!

Kerry, I'm so glad Larry is helping you. I need stuff on my left shoulder...woke up with a terrible strain all the way down. I have to lug the babies around tonight---I'm looking forward to being with them but I hope I don't mess myself up more. Do be careful with yourself and don't do too much. Maybe get an extra 'Grabber' just in case!

We have our Halloween party today, then noon dismissal. After that there's a teacher's meeting. I got almost all my lesson plans done at school yesterday since it was so rainy. Indoor recess means they destroy the room but I get to do my work, lol. I will put clean sheets on Chris' bed, do some picking up, get my nails done, and go to Cherilyn's. This will be the first night not to be here to hand out candy. I will put it in a container and hope no one breaks in!! Bad, bad weather going on...

Happy Halloween!

Hey gals,

We had a real treat tonight. In the 10 years we have lived in this village, there has been no availability of take-out or delivery of any kind. We're just too far away from the 3 cities that they just didn't do it. Well, apparently a Chinese restaurant in Ingersoll started to do delivery to Embro (yippee) so we had a delivered chinese dinner! Honestly, isn't it pathetic to get excited over having one's dinner delivered? LOL But after 10 years? It was worth getting excited about. Leah got me a Kobo reader! She has put it on charge for me and will show me how to use the thing tomorrow. I'm excited, but wary about trying to figure out another techie thing! sigh. emoticon

The weather today was sunny and lovely. Not too cold. I walked with Landon up to the grocery store to show him off to my old work buddies. Leah carried him back, but just after they left to go back to Cambridge, the centre of my back started to seize up painfully! That's what I get for lunking a 20 pound beast around the village when I don't exercise anymore....LOL! Fortunately, I can still function, but I think I need to make an appointment with my chiropractor. My back has been just fine for well over a year or more (much more), but I guess it's time for another few weeks of adjustment with his little pop gun. LOL!

Kerry, it sounds like you’re going to go through some discomfort with the therapy before you feel much better. Just take it easy and slow. Do what they tell you, but don’t overdo it. Let them know if what they are doing is making you hurt.

Well, I’m off again. I’ve hardly even been on facebook today, so I guess I should have a rumble through that before my back gets too sore to sit here.

God bless
Pam

Sue, I love your schedule!

The therapist did show up and we did leg exercises lying down and standing as well as walking down the driveway with the cane. I'm not allowed to use the cane again until he gets here Friday. The nurse is coming at 8am so I have to get up and about early or about the same time I've been getting up. I am having a lot of pain this evening and I think it is shin splints from the exercises-I just had Larry rub some stuff on it. I need to remember to take the ice pack to bed with me, too. It's a nice one from the hospital that doesn't leak and has a cover to grab any sweat. Hopefully I'll feel better tomorrow. Right now it is nearly 9 and I haven't eaten since lunch so I'm going to grab that big dish of fruit my friend brought over this afternoon and enjoy some of that.

Happy, happy birthday, Pam! I hope you’ll have a great day…or whatever is left of it!! I’m a ‘surface person’ too, and I hate that about myself, but I am a clutter mess and no matter what I do, the cleanups never last more than a few days. I hope your daughter enjoys her day….and maybe will pick up as a gift for you! DO NOT cook on your own bday….

Donna, the phone call never materialized. I think the middle sister who got her nose out of joint because the rest of us didn’t pay enough homage to her for her ‘trials’ of the day wasn’t interested in talking with any of us. The little sister will work on an 800 number for all of us to talk this weekend when she and I are on the way to visit. It’s a 2 hour drive and if everyone participates we should be able to get a lot done. I was irritated but just went to bed, thinking that if they DID call, I’d just chat in bed. That particular sister puts a huge damper on things all the time and we walk on eggshells so as not to disturb her ‘mental health.’ Ugh. I’d like to disturb her one day, lol….so many plans in my head to tell her off finally. I’m not a good big sister. She’s a pain in the butt. As for the privacy stuff, you’re absolutely right. They really can’t tell us exactly what’s happened but we’ve learned a few details. The woman is hounding the middle sister for payment…calling both cell and home phone repeatedly. The other sisters and I think we should pay her for the first 2 nights but not the last when she was removed. We’ll see. That’s what was supposed to be discussed last night on the phone. I can’t imagine how cold it must be and it’s so early! Bundle up. Wow…all that hiking and playing cards, too. You are so busy.

Kerry, please enjoy the downtime. You’ll be up and around and expected to do all kinds of things soon enough. I hope the therapist showed up and you didn’t hurt too much.

I want to get back to reading, Sandra. I just don’t seem to have the time right now. I miss it so much. I hope you will get the neck/back pain under control soon. Have you tried SalonPas? I keep hearing about it.

Your fall day sounds lovely, Sue. Rest your hands before you start back on the quilts! One of these days I will spend a whole day making cards, etc. I do SO miss that. I haven’t done more than a couple of hours since school started.

I have a church meeting and need to get going. Chris emailed and will come home Friday afternoon so that will be great. I miss him….

Mary

Marylou I think of you every day. Good luck in your job hunt.

Pam I certainly hope they don’t expect you to cook on your birthday either! Stick to your guns and point to the kitchen! We are all the same age and I too don’t really care about the birthday celebrations anymore. Everything bagels are my favorite!

Sandra thanks for the congrats on DD. I think she will do fine in the job.

Donna that is a LONG card game! You must have had a good time or it would have been shorter. You hiked in that cold weather? I hope

Kerry sounds like your recovery is going well.

Sue I get the sore neck and back. I told DH it is hard work to quilt but he doesn’t get that! I have to take a break after a lot of sewing. Maybe we need more massages!

DS called to see what I wanted for food while he was on his cruise. He has printed out doctor slips for GD in case of emergencies, food list of things she likes to eat, her schedule, how to use the tv recorder (thanks for that one!) He is organized like his mommy.

Well, we are off to go out for dinner.

G'day ladies.

Thanks for the birthday wishes. I've already added 2 pounds to my weight since someone brought me an everything bagel stuffed with garlic cream cheese followed by a large boston cream donut and a coffee. And that only 2 hours after breakfast! emoticon

Good grief. I just had to go rescue Leah from a wee spider on the wall beside her desk...LOL! All I could hear from my area was her squawking and ahhing and ooohhing...I took a flyswat and finished the poor little thing off and tossed it outside (flattened). LOL! Mind you - I loathe spiders too, but the little ones don't bother me as much as the big ones. (fortunately Canada doesn't have spiders very large - when I lived in England they had some biiiiiig beasties .... ugh).

I must be off - stuff to do and all that.

Catch you later hopefully

God bless,
Pam

PS we posted at the same time, Sandra. I've told you guys that I'm not the maternal type. I do not believe in taking small children to restaurants until they are old enough to sit still for more than an hour or more. None of my three saw the inside of a restaurant until they were well over 7 years old and knew their manners at the table. I took them occasionally to McDonalds, but that's not a restaurant - that's a playroom with disgusting food. LOL!

I didn't even read your whole post! I just saw your question....LOL I'm off again.. P

Hello to all,
Today is overcast and drizzly and it is supposed to get worse tonight and tomorrow. Then it supposed to get better and be nice and sunny again. I did read the whole book in one day but that included reading until almost 2am. And yes it was a very good book.

Sue, your house work sounds like mine. Once a week for laundry, no yard work, one meal a day which usually includes left overs from the meal before. I try not to go to the grocery store anymore than I have to but if I am going anywhere with DH it always includes a trip to the grocery store. The rest of my days are spent in front of the computer, the Nook or the TV or sitting outside in the swing. The occasional vegetable and fruit preserving thrown in and that is my life. Oh yeah, I forgot, I do walk every day or ride my exercise bike. That counts for at least 20-30 minuets a day. I guess over all it is not bad for retirement. Now if I could just cut down on the cooking every day I would be happier.

Kerry, congratulations on your son's honor roll, that is very nice for him. I am glad to hear you are getting some help and I hope you are being very careful during the time you are by yourself. My DH is also kind of a pack rat. Only his is mostly with bills. He is afraid to throw anything away because he thinks he may have to "prove" to some one that it has been paid. So we have boxes of old statements and bills etc. We got rid of so much when we moved but it is starting to stack up again. I must say he is neat about it though.

Pam, why would your new grandson not get to be taken out to a restaurant? Are you afraid he would order the Steak??? LOL Happy Birthday to you!!! I hope you do not have to cook and that you have a great Birthday. Maybe they are going to bring your dinner to you.

Donna, that is a lot of hiking!! I feel good just walking the fence line for 20 or 30 min. Sounds like the front that is coming here is also going through your way. I hope you stay warm. There was an article in our local paper about a bad pile up on the interstate due to a dust storm some where around your area. I enjoy playing games and sometimes on the holidays while the football watchers are involved with their games the grandchildren and I play cards or other board games. I enjoy it a lot.

Diana, congratulations to your daughter on her new job. The 2 best jobs I ever had was working in a clinic. Once before I became a nurse and the other one when I was a nurse. I loved it. I hope your daughter does too. Have fun with your Granddaughter.

Mary Lou, sorry to hear that your job search has not panned out yet but it will. In the meantime enjoy your subbing.

Mary, I can't believe how fast the time goes. It is hard to believe that the babies are sitting up already. I hope you get some rest since you were up so late dealing with your mother. It is HUMP DAY so have a good 2 more days.

Well that is all for today. Don't have anymore news here.
Sandra

Cleaning? I did it last month. Cooking? Well, maybe a night or two this week. Laundry? Not this week, save it till I have big loads and do it all in one day. Yard work? Not my job. What am I doing? Not a lot. Today I'm taking a break, my back and neck are very tired from hanging over a sewing machine for a few days. Did groceries this morning, trying to get that down to a every two week job and do a lot more eating out of our freezer. It's amazing all the stuff that gets pushed to the back of your cupboard or freezer and you forget they are even there. Beautiful fall day here in MD. A year of this would be nice.

Happy Birthday, Pam.
I am waiting for the therapist to show up. I'm not sure how well I will do after not sleeping much and having pain with the staples as well as in the knee and ankle. Maybe moving more will help, who knows. I've had the laptop on my lap since about 8:30 and have slept most of that time. lol Guess I better get ready for the therapist or in other words get the bathroom trip out of the way.

Pam: HAPPY BIRTHDAY! You are absolutely right. No cooking, esp. for a crowd, on your special day. I hope you enjoy it.

Pat: I can’t imagine only having less than 2 months to get used to the idea of having a baby. What a life changing occurance. At least YOU know about it even if she hasn’t told her family.

ML: Looking for work is frustrating to say the least. Good luck with that.

Diana: Good luck with you travels. Enjoy GD but I hope you have some down time also. We aren’t spring chickens anymore.

Mary: My first reaction was that of course the family has a right to know what happened with the help. But I can see from the other side, they are not at liberty to say what happened. I can’t say we let someone go, I can only say, they don’t work here anymore. All these privacy rules, you know. Hope your mother gets better soon. How did your phone call go?

Kerry: Isn’t it frustrating to not have the complete movement you are used to? It will come in time, don’t rush it.

Sandy: A whole book in one day?? Wow, I 've never done that.

I have had a busy weekend. I was gone 10 hours yesterday, hiking and then playing cards with the ladies. They played 4.5 hours! I worked 9 hours today and then out to dinner at a great mom and pop restaurant with a friend. I plan on staying home the rest of the evenings after work. The hike turned out to be 2 hours and the last part was through some of the burned out area from our wildfires. I am hiking again Sat but in a totally different area.

Our weather is dumping tonight. We are predicted to have a low of 29. BRRRR! Snow possible. Hope it warms up by Saturday’s hike.

Good evening, my lovely cyberbuddies.

Yes, tomorrow is that ugly day I’d like to just wish over with, but since I had Leah on my birthday 31 years ago, I’m not allowed to, as she insists on celebrating hers with me..LOL! Apparently tomorrow evening, Simon, Julie and Landon are coming to visit and I’m curious as to whether we’re eating out (I doubt it because there really isn’t anywhere around here to eat out, and they wouldn’t take Landon to a restaurant anyway). I hope they don’t think I’m cooking supper, because it ain’t happening, and I don’t think Leah should do it either, so this should be interesting…. :) Then on Saturday night we are going out to dinner with my SIL and my other DD (along with hubby) for another birthday dinner! My SIL wanted it to be one of our “girls’ night out” dinners, but both Leah and I insisted that my DH had to be included if it was for our birthday – so there. LOL

Mary, I hope that everything gets sorted out satisfactorily with your mom. It’s so hard and so worrying, isn’t it? Yes I have a relative who has no filter/tact also. It makes everyone jump in to make sure she doesn’t get there first! LOL

Well all you ladies are worrying about clutter. I am not the tidiest person in the world, but when we moved here, I realized there was very little “storage” so I did my best to keep the clutter down. Then Leah moved back home . . . sigh . . . I love that girl and she has a heart of gold and would give you the world if she could, but man, she is the messiest person I know. I’ll clear the table and next time I walk through, her gym bag or purse or purchases will be sitting there. Any paperwork or mail will find a clear surface and cover it. I have a nice kitchen with FOUR sections of countertop one can work on, and there will generally be only one that can be used, because there’s too much “stuff” stacked up on the others. I put up with it for so long, an then I’ll clear it all up and dump all her stuff on her bed. I feel badly because her room is so tiny and she has more clothes than a drugstore has pills, so there isn’t much space for her. Oh well – that’s life.

Pat, I looked up the “pill” and pregnancy on the Mayo Clinic website, and there really wasn’t anything that said taking the pill and being pregnant caused any difficulties. They actually said the opposite. They found NO evidence that the pill caused problems. So I would take that worry and stash it away. :)

Well, I have to go now. I had a crazy busy day today and I’m pooped. We’ll chat again tomorrow! Sorry I haven’t commented on everyone’s posts.

God bless,
Pam

Nothing new on the job front. I did find after school care (sub) only, at the school next to me. The assistant principal asked me to help out twice a week for the next two weeks. I'm impressed with this school, they seem to have it together. I will help out till I find something with better pay. I'm still waiting to hear back from the telecom company that called last week. I guess I won't hold my breath. :( Kerry, I feel like my counters are getting paper cluttered too. Its time for me to declutter.

Diana, I did put out resumes, but I will have to learn patience. It's a hard thing for me to do. I hope your dd enjoys her new job. A doctor's office is a great place to be.

Pat, hope all is well with your family. So much going on at your house.

Sandra, I hope you get some rest and your back pain subsides.
Pam, I'm going to join Diana in wishing you a " happy birthday" early. Enjoy your day!

Well off to bed. Good night all.

Kerry I will go look at your DBs pictures. I know you are very proud! My DD used to have clothes everywhere and piles of shoes in her closet. Now she is neat as a pin! It is irritating to have a mess maker in the house. I’m like you. I can’t sleep on my back. If I do I wake myself snoring! I know you are proud of your granddaughter’s grades.

Pat I am sorry you feel you have to wait in the wings for information on your DS and family. I understand for sure. Grown children’s problems are very frustrating for us. We have no control, lots of advice they don’t want and the pain of watching their mistakes. Is DIL waiting to have the baby before telling her family? Wow.. facetime is new to me.

Marylou I hope one of the jobs that caught your interest pan out. In the meantime enjoy your subbing. At least it is close. DD just called and got hired in a doctor’s office. She said it isn’t as much pay as she wanted but it is a start.

Mary how exciting the girls are sitting up. I love that age. It is so cool they have each other. Twins have that secret language. They will be close. So glad you enjoyed your Dinner for 8. It will be interesting to see if that steak materializes! I hope your mother is okay and they work out the help. They need to be available when the residents call.

Sandra a whole book in a day. Are your eyes crossed? It must have been a good one.

Pam here is wishing you a happy birthday a day early. Tomorrow I will be getting ready to head for Dallas so I might forget. Any plans?

Donna where are you?

Well, we just finished dinner. One more day here with DB and SIL and I will head to Dallas. My DIL is calling asking what I need to eat. I am going to recommit myself to the program this week. I've been "drifting". If I don't get a good hold I will not lose anymore weight.

Just a quick hello and brief update...I'm waiting to talk with my mother and other sisters. The youngest told me that there is someone with our mother today. The middle sister went to the assisted living and lit into them...they got very defensive and gave her what-for. She has no filter and no tact. I hope she hasn't caused even more problems. Apparently there was a suspected 'substance issue' that we aren't supposed to know about. And we are not supposed to say anything to our mother. WHo knows? The younger sister is looking into an 800 number so we can all talk at the same time to each other. she's spent a good portion of her day taking care of immediate business involving Mama's care and she's worn out. Neither of us got much sleep, either.

So that's that. i'm getting off here and trying to contact the other sisters.

Hugs to all,
Mary

I'm sure most anyone can clean better than I do. emoticon I've become a bit of a slob since my husband has started acting like his own parents and becoming a hoarder although he swears all the stuff around here is my mess. Barb even cleaned dup the cat box mess and wants to come back tomorrow to do more-maybe help declutter the counters. Anyway, since she left and then Trish fixed us lunch and left for work I managed to drop my washcloth and then knocked the grabber on the floor when I reached for it. Glad it wasn't anything real important but I am being real careful with stuff now until Larry gets home. LOL
My granddaughter once again got straight A Honor Roll along with some other awards. emoticon

Hello to all,
Washing a load of clothes and I did actually clean the master bathroom this morning. So I did accomplish a little something today. I read a whole book yesterday. It was a good one too.

Kerry, I always end up on my back before morning but I usually start off on my side. If I lay on my left side it makes my right arm and neck hurt. I end up rolling over and laying on the right arm to keep it from "hanging" and hurting. I am starting to hurt a lot from my neck and arm. I am trying to ignore it. I am not ready for another surgery just yet and I don't have a doctor now anyway. I would have to find a new one and go through all of the testing all over again.

Mary Lou, I understand that subbing probably does not pay well enough for it to be your only job even though I'm sure you really like it. I hope you can find something that will be good for you soon.

Pat, I am pleased to hear that the new grandbaby is healthy so far and that every one is excited about it. There were 6 years between my first 2 children and my last 2 but they were all very close. The older ones really enjoyed the little ones. They played with them like they were their own personal dolls. It might be a little harder on Momma but the older kids should be good with it. Still praying for good Jobs for the boys and good health for mama and baby.

Kerry, no one can clean the way we do but sometimes we just have to look away and let someone else do it their way to get it done. It can be hard..LOL. Just remember there are things that you cannot do yet and let it go. I learned that the hard way.

Sue, are you working on your last quilt? I hope you are enjoying it still. The weather here today is overcast and very windy. I think we are supposed to have a front come in with bad weather tomorrow evening and it is supposed to be cold and rainy for Halloween.

Mary, it is so hard not to be able to be with the twins during this fun time in their lives but hopefully you will be able to see the good stuff often enough to enjoy them anyway. As grandmothers we cannot always be there nor would the parents want us there all of the time I think. When we were children going to school our parents blamed us for things that happened at school and we were punished for it. Now days the parents blame the teachers for everything. They think they are doing their children a favor but really they are just being lazy parents. If they can blame the teacher they don't have to blame themselves for their children's short comings. (strictly my opinion).
Well the washing machine is almost finished so I need to put them in the dryer. Later,
Sandra

Kerry keep up the good work and soon you will be moving more comfortably. I'm not a back sleeper either, but I'm not supposed to sleep in my side because of the Bursitis in my hips. My sleep is not the best these days. Hope you can get out for a ride today. Looking at the inside of the house for more than just a few days get really boring.

Mary, So sorry to hear that your mother fell and that you are having problems with the care-assistant. Hope you can find out why she was asked to leave the facility.

Good morning, I think. I am really not a back sleeper-never have been and don't like being forced into it but there's no other option. My back aches and, of course, I'm a bit sore from all those exercises yesterday so not a great night for me. Sorry for complaining.

Mary, I hope you have a good day at school today after that horrible night. Prayers that they get that all taken care of and your mom is taken care of properly. As for school, I hope the mom gets the message from you and passed on to the child that they have to turn their stuff in. When my youngest was in 6th grade she was taken out of class daily for learning disability classes and got in trouble for not turning in stuff in the regular class. When I asked the teacher about it she said she always reminded the kids about 10 min before the end of the day (which happened to be before my kid got back into the room) to turn in notebooks and it wasn't her responsibility to repeat herself to the kids not in class at the time so I had to remind her several times in the morning and hope she remembered. THAT I would blame on the teacher for just not thinking but in your case the mom and the child are just being lazy and she is not doing the kid any favors by not making him turn things in. Where or where have the parenting skills gone??

Well, I think I am going to try to get myself dressed and give my friend a call.

So much going on and all at the same time for you and your family Mary. I will say a prayer for all of you. And how sad that teachers have to read kids minds and if not get emails from parents. I have a question since things are so bad, have you ever considered just being a sub in the public school system. They pay subs here very well and it seems if you want to work there is always an opportunity. Of course it would require you to drive to different schools, but you would not have to prepare work just sit there and look teacherly.
Today DH and I are going shopping, he has several things he wants to go look at one of them is bathroom showers. We are wanting ideas to remodel the tub area in our main bath. It is raining here so no golf so we will get an early start. Better go get my morning chores done.

I hope everyone around you...friends and family...will work together for whatever you need, Kerry! And good for you not going anywhere unless it's necessary!

My sisters and I are in a tizzy. The night sitter was escorted from the assisted living while on duty with my mother last night! She called the middle sister who does very little and said she 'didn't know why.' Apparently while this was going on my poor mother had called for help several times. My youngest sister who took over with the power of attorney after Dave died called the business manager....he's the brother of her best friend at work, thank goodness. HE wasn't aware of it and was on a business trip to Dallas! We emailed back and forth until 1am. I'm exhausted. Two sisters are alternating dropping by at odd times in hopes of making sure all is well. But I can't go until Saturday. I am really worried. If you're so inclined, please say a prayer that we can get all of this worked out.

And on top of that, the mom of the child with the 'killer comment' has been emailing me about her child not reading with me. I found out yesterday that she has had her reading folder in her book bag for weeks and just doesn't bring it in. I don't go through their bags....if they bring it in, I read! If not, I have no way of knowing without combing through 16 bags. Deliver me......

I have no actual desire right now to go get into a car and go anywhere. lol The only exercise I'm doing is what they made me do and what I have to repeat two or three times tomorrow. I think a friend is coming over tomorrow to help me a bit and keep me company. Right now I'm just tired and ready to head to bed as I've made myself stay awake most of the day so I can sleep tonight. Larry went out and bought me a cane and some Halloween candy so now we should have more than enough plus Trish will be here to do the passing out. The grandkids normally have a laundry basket for their clothes but their aunt is continually taking it to her room and never getting it back which is really irritating. Because she takes it I let her pick up their stuff and wash it. That kid needs to learn to do more and complain less.

We've Facetimed once but I always forget! I want to see the babies in action and I wish I could be there more often. Some of my school friends think I could/should go visit every day, lo.. I tell them that just getting out to my car after a hard day 'at the office' is a feat to be thankful for accomplishing, lol!

I hope all will continue to go well with Decklan. Stephanie has so much to deal with but it sounds like he's doing great. Fabulous growth. I hope your conversation with your son will be fine, too. so much going on for you right now, Pat!

Mary that is so funny you mentioned Glad Wrap because I just got off the phone and Stephanie has to use plastic wrap in Decklan's diaper to collect his stool and fill 4 viles for the doctor. She was on FaceTime with me and they showed my the plastic wrap. They sure do things weird anymore. They took him to the doctor today and he has gained a pound and grew an inch. So he is doing great,
Glad you had a good day. Hopefully Cherilyn will start taping the special moments for you to see. Do you two ever do face time? That is great she can work from home.
Marylou hope you find the perfect fit job for you. But it is good you are still getting the sub jobs for now.
Kerry becareful moving around the house, like Mary says you do not want to fall!
Ok need to call my middle child to see where he stands on his job change and move. I also need to tell him Jeff's news. So much going on! Pat

Wow, so many posts! I do SO wish I could just play all day and be with my friends. Actually, today was good at school. I stayed til 4:30, took an audiobook back to the library, then came home and had a great conversation with Cherilyn. Annalise has crawled all over the den! Both girls sat up for 15 minutes and ‘chatted’ with each other ,threw toys around, and had a great morning. I wish I could have been there. She’s so excited. She has a parttime job to work at home and make workshop lessons for Pearson Learning! She woke up at 4am and fleshed out an outline. She called to tell the rep what she had done---and the rep told her she was in active labor, having her baby 3 weeks early! So it was perfect timing that Cherilyn agreed to take this on last week!

Pat, what exciting news! Your family is growing, the boys have new and potentially great things in the offing, Stephanie will be feeling better very soon I hope, and all will settle down. My youngest sister was born 13 years and 1 day after me…we have always been close! I’m thrilled to hear that all seems fine with the new little one. He and Decklan will be great friends, I hope! Congrats on enlarging the family so quickly!

Kerry, please don’t do too much! I can see you slapping on GladWrap and going to water aerobics, lol. Do NOT overdo it. And it’s awful that the grandchildren didn’t pick up the clothes. Any little thing left laying around will cause you to fall….not a good thing. Please crack the whip and make them pick everything up. Who knows? It might lead to better manners all over!

Sandra, hooray for you fixing the recliner. You are so industrious. I know I wouldn’t take on that big a project. I hope the Kindle/Nook is compatible. I have enjoyed reading on the iPad so much. But I need to do more of it. I made parmesan asparagus and an onion soufflé dip for last night. The woman whose house we were at made chicken parmesan. Another couple made a salad and one brought gelato for dessert. It was delicious!

Dinners for 8 was really nice, Diana. And surprise…the couple who hasn’t shown up for the last 2 months emailed to say they can come and host in November. It remains to be seen, lol….but they said they are planning on filets. We were laughing last night that we should make them have steak and lobster! All we need now is the lobster! I’m so glad you will get in ‘Me’ time as well as enjoying the granddaughter. Your grown kids will enjoy their time off, too.

I hope the sub job pans out, Marylou. I keep thinking of my own options. They are few and far between. But at least I DO have the job. Today was a good day so that’s a good way to start the week. I begin and end each day with a prayer that I can just make it through the week. Hugs as you go through all the steps to the ‘next level.’

Pam, I hope you get the customers will give you a break and you have some down time while Tony is away!

Sue, I need to branch out. How easy was the crock pot meal? Any suggestions?

School work beacons….

Mary

Pat, glad to hear that baby is doing well. Should be a fun Christmas! emoticon

Sandra, good job on fixing the chair so it's comfortable. It does really sound strange to put the kindle on the nook.

Marylou, hope you get either lots of subbing jobs or a good job offer you can enjoy.

It's been a busy afternoon-home therapy with lots of leg lifts and then a walk down the street two driveways. After that the home nurse showed up and changed my bandage. It's a new age of doing things-she took a picture with her phone and sent that with a note to the Dr's nurse that she was changing the bandage and when she was all done I had to sign her tablet. I have to sign the tablet of whoever comes to see me. I don't care how hard you try signing with your finger is just not pretty!!

My husband is trying to glue the threshold piece down but he hasn't swept any of the cat litter from the floor. Great-wonder how well that will hold.

Wow, two grandbaby boys in two months! Congrats Pat! I will pray your ds finds his job soon. I've been job searching today. There were two jobs that caught my attention. In the meantime I have a few new sub jobs starting tomorrow. They are in the school down the street. I could walk to school. :)

Tired, need to get food cooking... later.

Hi everyone, I heard from my son today and it's a boy, lol. They did the sonogram, everything looks good, the baby is almost 5 pounds and they put the due date at December 14th! That is in about 7 weeks. So in little over two months we will have two new grandsons, and doubled our grandchildren . Isn't life interesting sometimes. The granddaughters have been told and Jeff said they were very excited about it, but my DIL has not told anyone in her family yet????
This is a very strange situation to me, but Jeff is excited, the girls are excited and it looks like the baby is fine so that is all that is important to me. Now he just need at o get that job offer!

Sandra, great job on fixing your chair. Definitely a win for both of you. That pizza sounds great also. I made the Crockpot 3 Envelope Roast Beef off PINTEREST the other day. Very yummy. Probably high in salt due to the mixes, but I don't do this often and I enjoyed every bite of it. Tonight will be leftover hot roast beef & gravy open-face sandwiches.

Hello to all,
I hope every one is having a good day today. I am not doing much again today. With just the two of us the house doesn't get messy and DH is still doing the dishes (to keep me from using the dishwasher) Yeah for me. So there is not much to do to occupy my day except what I want to do. I don't remember if I said or not but I fixed the recliner that DH bought and then didn't like. He put it in the room where I watch TV and because the headrest was way to big for either of us to sit comfortably I had been just flipping it over and letting it hang down the back of the chair. I took the seam ripper and took out the seam and took out the padding. At first I was just going to take out a little of the stuffing and then when I got into it I realized it was a big foam bolster type thing in there and it was wrapped several times in the batting stuff. I removed everything and then took the batting off of the foam and left the foam out and just put the batting/stuffing back in and then hand stitched it back together. It worked great. It is still puffy but now it doesn't make your head lean down. The chair is much better for me and DH has already bought himself another chair so now we both have new ones. Win, win.

Pat, my goodness!! when it rains it pours at your house. As far as the boys jobs I do hope they work out well. It sounds like the one in Enid OK, will be closer to you and that is better than Florida. I have heard of many other women that have gotten pregnant while on the pill and the babies have been fine. If she had taken some kind of antibiotic or some other kind of medicines like that it would cause the "pill" to be ineffective and that is possibly why it didn't work for her and she got pregnant. I will pray for their good health. I also am still praying for Stephanie that her surgery goes well and her recovery is quick.

Kerry, it sounds like you are taking good care of yourself and that you are doing well. I am enjoying my Nook HD as it sounds like you are enjoying your Kindle. When I did my research before I got my Nook HD the man at Best Buy said the only difference in the performance between the two was that the Nook HD didn't have as much "memory"? I have also found out that the Barns and Noble app is not as good as the Kindle app and was very happy when my daughter was able to load the Kindle app on my Nook. (for some reason that strikes me as so funny). I hope you don't worry to much about your weight while you are recovering. You need the calories to heal.

Last night I made a home pizza with a recipe off of pintrest and it was so good. The dough is only 2 ingredients. One cup of Greek yogurt and one cup of self rising flour. I had mistakenly gotten regular yogurt so I am assuming the difference was that the Greek yogurt is thicker so I just added a little more flour to mine and it made a great crust. I made a sausage and veggie pizza with bought pizza sauce and then a pan of just the dough with olive oil and Italian seasonings and garlic salt and just a little mozzarella cheese and that was really yummy too. I used some of the bought pizza sauce to dip it in. Not too calorie happy but still yummy!! See, ladies that is why I am fat. For me the cucumber salad and fresh squash would not have been needed. I could have just eaten the pizza and cheesy bread and been happy as a clam. Well at least I did add the veggies..LOL

Well DH just came in so I guess I had better get off of here.

Just popping in to say "good morning!",

Tony has gone into London and Leah and I are "minding the store" while he's gone. LOL! I have been reading all the posts for the past few days and am hoping and praying that all goes well for everyone.

Pat, I've been in your position, where everyone seemed to be having difficulties and I couldn't really do anything. Instead of worrying about it, I just prayed and laid it all at the foot of the cross and walked away. It worked, and it saved me many hours of ulcer inducing worry.

Anyway, I've got to go, as I can hear a customer pulling up in the driveway....

God bless,
Pam

Good morning.
Pat, remember to take care of yourself so you will be to handle everything you have going on in your life right now.

Oh, lordy, I just managed to catch the piece of wood between the dining room and kitchen where the floor changes from wood to linoleum and ripped it right up. Darn walker!! I need to walk more and that's how I did my therapy with the knees but guess I should have been going the other way. Hopefully Larry can fix it this evening before it actually gets broken. I also hope my daughter can just pick it up without any more damage though she is not the gentlest person in the world. Oh well. GD is at school now-I went back toward her room this afternoon and yelled for her to wake up the second time and she spoke up from the couch that she was already up and dressed. I'm sure her room is still a mess but I don't have to go in there and aunt Trish can grab up their laundry and get it done. emoticon I can't figure out how 2 kids are here one night and one of them another night and there is now a pile of dirty clothes on the floor. They did have a basket but it has disappeared. I think Larry used it yesterday and put our clean stuff on the floor where I can't reach it. AAAAARRRGGGGHHHH

It's supposed to be a really nice day here again-the sun is shining brightly. Guess I should get dressed before people start showing up!

Sue my son certainly was not expecting this, and if my DIL did not realize what was going on for 6 months then she must of been in major denial too. With both girls practically grown it will be a big adjustment for all. And then with my son being out of work for 6 months and hopefully getting this new job, wow just wow. Wish I could say something to help them but not being particularly close to my DIL nothing I would say would help. I just have to,wait in the wings until they inform me of what's going on. So very hard sometimes.

So glad I typed a replay here-tried to check the spelling of Guatemala and first the entire word disappeared and when I clicked to retype it the entire post disappeared. My FB page has new pictures of my brother's mission trip with fellow church members to build 3 houses in Guatemala this week. My granddaughter needs to head to bed and is killing time by playing with my walker. what a brat! LOL

Gee, I don't read my posts just one day and I get way behind in the news.

Pat, I can see why your've been a bit upset lately. So much going on and nothing you have any control over. Hard place to be as a mother. My best wishes go out to all three of your adult-children. Certainly a lot of life changes going on for them. Stephanie will be fine and will feel a whole lot better after this gallbladder surgery. Life will be back on track soon. I will keep my fingers crossed that all is well with the newest member of the Larson family. This is definitely not what they were expecting, I'm sure.

Hi everyone. I am sorry for not posting much. I had my quilt class all week last week and it kept me busy and tired. Good tired but tired. Now my DB and SIL have arrived from New Orleans to work on their house. I have been chief cook and bottle washer. However, while everyone worked today I took a 3 hour nap! Wow.

Donna thanks for making me feel better about taking GD to daycare! I will have some personal time which will be nice. I can’t get over how long your hikes are. I bet I my legs would be aching! I agree people need to be more creative when they go to a cookie exchange! Glad to hear your boss is in a better mood these days. However, I’m sorry to hear about your sister. How is she doing? I bet your friend is glad you are there for him on this year anniversary of his loss.

Pam I am not “mother earth”. I love grandkids and children but they require work. I let Bob do the communicating and tell me things. I let him play with them and I am there if they need me. I hug and love them a lot but I guess it is that I am a loner a bit. I make myself be sociable but I’m pretty happy with my own company! I’m glad I am not alone in that. I’m glad you are fat and happy..wait did I say that on a weight loss group?

Marylou I can’t believe the weight you are dropping. I guess it is your silver lining. You were wise getting your prescriptions filled and doing your medical tests done that you could before you lost your benefits. It was wise for you to ask about a position while there. I hope something comes of it. I am so glad Whitney is receiving scholarships! How great for all of you. I saw a news clip on college tuition actually going down at some of the colleges.

Kerry so glad you are doing well. I knew you would. I hope you are getting a lot of rest. It seems like a miracle for you to be able to walk to therapy after a hip replacement!

Mary what a great group of grandmas we have! You all make me feel so much better about my plan for watching the granddaughter. I am glad for you that your kids are 6 and not 16. A “killer” remark by a 16 year old could be very scary! How is your mom? I didn’t realize she fell. I hope she doesn’t have to go to the nursing home side. How did the Dinner for 8 go?
Sandra are you liking the new glasses? Wow those are big babies for twins! I hope mom recovers well.

Sue thanks for the sweet comments on my food pictures and table. I did not make up the recipes. I look all year for pumpkin recipes for this baking contest. The pumpkin rolls were good. The cream cheese frosting on them was really yummy. The toffee pecan pie was different but good.

Pat you have been through a lot lately. I hope your son’s move to Enid is good for him. I hope we can meet up sometime if you come to visit him. Your DIL being pregnant at that age and having been on birth control would worry me to. Please let us know how the baby is. Prayers are going out for them. My son is taking his wife on a cruise for her 40th birthday. That’s why I got the babysitting gig. No bad news.

Well, I can smell the ribs. Guess I better get all the fixings ready to go with it.
