Other than when I am weighed at the Dr., I am not sure if I am getting an accurate measurement on my scales. I have the same problem of getting different readings depending on where I put the scales which are 20 + years old. I am using my mom's old scales and her floor goes downhill and the foundation is off; so I am assuming that these all factor into whether or not I am getting an accurate reading. If I am my weight hasn't changed since March at which time I had already gone from 195 pounds down to 190 and have remained there since I only want to track my weight once a month but would love to be able to get an accurate reading when I use the scales.

At one point we had 3 different scales in the house - each registered a different weight - sometimes a 3-4 pound difference. One scale registers 2 or 3 weights depending on the placement on the floor.

Seems a little ridiculous to me. My mother likes to weigh 5 times and take the best 3 out of 5 numbers.

Lost of mumbling here...sorry - don't believe your scale if it makes you feel less than.

Working or living for scale is too limiting.

I am opening up to the possibilities of each day. I see that spark within others.

Yes, but we don't make excuses for the scale when the numbers go down.

I have adjusted it with what I weigh at the doctor's office. He has the last word!

To check you scale accuracy place a 5 pound bag of sugar on it and read what it says. That is the way I have always adjusted mine.

Thanks NITEMAN3D. It's not a big deal but I was just curious.

@DFARLEY - That's a variance of way less than 1%, so I doubt it. Most of the newer digital scales automatically calibrate to zero, but variations of less than a percentage point of inaccuracy are probably well within acceptable manufacturing tolerances?

I have two bathroom scales and they differ by 1.7 lbs. I know it doesn't really matter as long as you lose the weight, but I was wondering is there a way to make them accurate. I'm just curious!

Try checking it twice a week and keep a log only on Wednesday. I just read last week Wednesday is the best and most accurate account of our weight as people like to indulge on the weekend. As a side note, you always weigh less first thing in the morning so be consistent with your time of day. Hang in there a day or two of getting back in the game and you will see huge improvements.

Some people lose weight before you can have a non-scale victory. Your scale is fine. Just keep on doing what you are doing

Some people cannot see themselves thinner. Perhaps you are one of them.

I see no reason to buy a new scale. Maybe changing the batteries will make you feel better.

Hi,
My scale says that I have lost 9lbs, but my clothes still fit the same.
Should I buy a new scale? Why don't I feel like I have lost weight?
Thx so much :)
