Morning everyone - hope you are having a great Wednesday.

Had an OK meeting yesterday at TOPS - slight gain of 0.4 of a pound but not worried as am doing well with food tracking and believe it will come of this week.

Was concerned going into the meeting for TOPS yesterday - had 2 people complain about members getting up and starting to clean up things while the meeting was going on. This is the 2nd time since July that members have brought this to my attention - though I have been aware of it - and am upset that I had to once again bring it to the attention to the group. Unfortunately one of the ladies that tends to do this is somewhat hard of hearing and just does as she 'wants' in many ways. She is a sweet lady but always starts cleaning up right away - think some of it is because she cant hear all that is going on at the meetings. At any rate while the roll call was going on she was showing the signs of starting to do this - and I turned to her (she sits beside me) and stopped her telling her to sit down and to wait till the end of the meeting to do that - she looked at me and asked why - and I replied 'because it is rude of you to get up and start putting things away while the meeting is going on - she answered by saying 'on nuts' and gave me a funny look. So I then had to address the group and told them I was not happy about what I had to say. I told them what needed to be changed - that there had to be more respect to whoever was doing the program - that the clearing up can be done at the end of the meeting and the meeting will end leaving enough time for everyone to help out - they were quite while I said this and were very respectful for the complete meeting. Oh I don't like that part of being the leader - but I must say I was able to get a few others to speak up - told them that though they weren't going to like the discussion but that we needed to talk about the progress we have made in the year - one lady looked up and said 'I have made good progress - I have gained 12 pounds this year' - so i told her i was going to focus on her for the meeting as i believe we should be there to help encourage her. She thanked me after - but will see what next week will bring

At any rate DH just called me - lunch is ready - piece of chicken and some strawberries.

So till next time

Marilyn

Hello.

MARY - Wow, your cousin at 102 yrs had a full life! But sorry for your loss of two relatives.

MARILYN - Christmas baking already? You are really ahead of yourself. That is great. Do you have special traditional foods/desserts you bake for the holidays?

Apple picking yesterday was great. Three full bags. The weather was sunny and cool. We usually drive the truck up and around but this year we decided to walk up and through the orchard for exercise. It was challenging because of the hills and such but it was fun. My Fitbit read 24,498 Steps = about 12 miles for the day.

My DH bakes a few 12" open apple tarts and also some apple pies for the holidays. We'll keep a basket full for making baked apples a family favorite when they visit. The rest we wrap and store and they last us for about six - eight months. I myself can't eat apples ( allergy) but DH eats one every day. So they don't go to waste.

Have a Happy!

Good morning everyone.

Kathleen, sounds like you had a good day apple picking. Now what are you doing with the apples?

Mary, sorry for your loss of your cousin and nephew. It seems it always goes in three. Hope you have a quiet day today.

Marilyn, how did it go at TOPS yesterday.

It's going to be another quiet day here today it's raining this morning and we are suppose to have sun this afternoon . We will see.
I thought I would get a start on the Christmas baking. I'm not making much this year there is always so much left over and I don't want it hanging around.

Hope you all have a great day.

Late check in. Long day today. Woke up this morning to the rain still coming down & yard flooded. Had at least 6" of water on carport & driveway. Needed to go into the city again for a lunch meeting with some of my mission friends so I had to put boots on to get to the car & DH came out to bring boots back into the house. By the time I got back around 3pm, most of the water was finally down off the carport & drive but not out of the yard but at least the rain had stopped.

This evening we went to a cousin's wake. She was 102 yrs old & left 6 generations of family behind. Also lost a nephew today. Sad situation. Expect we'll learn funeral arrangements tomorrow.

For now it's rest & no alarm set for tomorrow morning. emoticon

Hugs,
Mary

Good Morning. We are having a beautiful sunny day with temps 50S F.

A nice cool day to go apple picking. DH and I will leave shortly and drive about one hour to NYS to our favorite apple orchard. We usually spend a few hours there, lots of walking up and down hills. So I should get a good work out today.

MARY - I am sorry to hear your DH has health issues. Having been the sole caregiver for my mom before she passed ( 14 yrs now) was very difficult. We love them but it is so tiring sometimes. I do understand and I wish him well and also wish you strength to deal with your situation.

Have a good day everyone.

Good morning everyone.

Mary, hope all goes well . I'll be sending good prayers your way.

Kathleen, it's always nice to have the grands drop by with the parents. I get such a kick out of them when they have so much to tell us that they trip over some words and make us laugh.LOL

Theresa, the fall colors were beautiful but they would have been better if the sun was out. And just a little warmer.

Yesterday I washed all the throws and sewed the lables on them and then wrapped them all up. As I writing this to you I just remembered I promisied to take a photo of them all to show you. But I'll get one of them all holding their throws on Christmas morning. Hubby won't let me forget.
Today I'm meeting up with Jean my friend she wants to tell me all about her doctor's visit.
The tempo wasn't done yesterday as we had rain so it will have to be another day.

Marilyn, hope you have a good weigh in today at TOPS.

Have a great day.

Hugs Margaret

Hope you are all having a great Monday and looking forward to having a great weekend

Waiting for my daughter to return home from respite - should be home in about 10 minutes - though it is nice to have a break always miss her so much - but the lady that works with her loves her a lot as does her family and she keeps reminding me that 'I have to share her as they love her and think of her as part of their family' - am so blessed to have this great lady in our life.

Still working on making sure my menus fall into my food plan and are on the Low GI Index side - for far so good but still have some to look up.

Well time to get up and walk - so till next time

Good morning 48er's. I see that the weekend seemed to be agreeable with us all. Had a quiet afternoon napping here after church. So much so that I failed to log in yesterday after just reaching a 30 day login streak. emoticon

Theresa, no worries on missing Friday's weigh-in. It's always good to have guests come in.

Marilyn, I can relate to your comic about shopping on an empty stomach. I always try to eat before grocery shopping or else it costs too much.

Kathleen, sometimes I feel I have no one to share heartfelt concerns with so I had really missed this nurse friend of mine. It helped to lift my spirits so much to spend time with her without DH present. So much of my stress these days come from the changes that I see in him with the dementia.

Margaret, you & I seem to always be doing more than we should these days. Hope you don't wear yourself out putting up that tempo. emoticon emoticon emoticon

Well I've got to get going. I have an appt for an ultrasound of my thyroids this afternoon in the city. Praying.............

Hugs,
Mary

It's Monday! Good Morning.

I had a nice weekend. My son and his family were out hiking in my neck of the woods in PA and they stopped over for a visit. So nice to see the kids and hear all about there school activities.

MARILYN- I love that picture of the two little girls on the scale. LOL That is SO me. Take everything off, socks, clothes, and all my jewelry too!

MARY - Sounds like you really went all out with your outfit and jewelry. That's a great way to give yourself a boost! Glad you enjoyed your day out withyour friends.

MARGARET - The trip to see the fall foliage sounds wonderful. All those lovely back roads and leaves. Cool weather makes a perfect fall day.

THERESA- There's always next Friday to weigh in. I do that sometimes, I forget what day it is. Now that I am retired everyday is the same. Last week on Monday I thought it was Sunday - all day! - Duh, LOL We're 1948'ers, were all in the same boat.

Hey DWAYNE, Hope you are well.

Well I am off to the store this morning to buy my supplements. I take a lot of vitamins etc. being that I follow a strict diet.
Have a great day!

Good morning everyone.

Theresa, you didn't forget weigh in . You just had a bubble moment. LOL. We will take it this Friday.

Marilyn, I also had a quiet Sunday doing laundry, and cleaning house while I had it to myself. LOL.

I did meet up with my friend for lunch , but then it was right back home. Hubby didn't get home till after 6 last night from his meeting so he had warmed up diner when he got home. LOL

Today we might get the tempo frame started. It will be good to have it up again. That way there is never any frost on my car in the morning.

Hope you all have a great day.

Hope you are all having a great Sunday

Had a great Church Service and then soup and bun at church which was well attended.

Am now home, enjoying the nice warm sun shinning through the window and am thinking of having a short port nap.

So till next time

Margaret and Mary - sounds like you have been keeping busy with the travels. I love the dirt road traveling Margaret. So beautiful at this time of year.

Its so nice that you had fun times with your friends Mary. I hope it was relaxing after the busy time you have just had with the wedding.

It's been a busy few days here with out of town company. I forgot the weigh in on Friday but will do it this coming week.

Enjoy the rest of the weekend everyone!

Good morning everyone. I just finished reading Christ's brain tumor story on Sparks. It's amazing what can happen in a second.

Mary, so happy you had a great time with your friends. It sounds like you were dressed to the nines. Good for you.

Marilyn, keep working on that menu and Tuesday will be good.

Yesterday we had a lovely day we drove 2 hours north and seen all the beautiful fall colors and did a lot of dirt road traveling. It was great to see everyone enjoy themselves. Where we were was great for the kiddies as well. They had a park and they could go out and have as much fun as they wanted. It was quite nippy outside I prefered to be inside beside the wood burning stove. We ate late so we didn't stay long after . The trip home we had no one to follow so it was a bit scary. But all went well. We were both in bed befor 8 last night it must have been all the mountain air.

Hubby has a meeting today 3hours away . He's already left and I'll onLy see him at diner time later today. I'll meet up with my friend for a little lunch and I'll also tackle the washing before I go. Maybe some house work as well.

Hope you all have a great day.

Hugs Margaret

What a great day today! Took off at 6:30 this morning for a 2.5 hr drive with 2 friends for a day of a missions organization meeting & got back home around 4p.m. I left DH @ home with the TV & recliner. Had a super fun trip with lots of laughs & catching up with each other. One friend had been abroad for the last 3 yrs & had only seen each other once during that time so it did my heart good to be with her. I dressed up with my new outfit & even wore jewelry which I don't often do. I felt good & it showed they said. LOL I guess a few days of steroids & a day out with friends for some "ME" time does a body good. I need that some often I think.

Margaret, I'm missing Dwayne's posts also as well as Agnes, Bernie, Deana, & Theresa. Hope all are doing ok. It's kind of quiet here lately with just you, Kathleen, Marilyn, & me here but thankful for you all! Hope you all have a blessed weekend. emoticon emoticon

Hope you are all having a great Saturday - it is sunny in my part of the world so everyone is smiling - but fall is definitely here

Taking time to relook at food to be eaten for the week - working at getting in proper nutrients each day keeping carbs around the 100 grams and protein around 60 and calories around 1200 = is a challenge but am working on it.

Am looking at the GI index of the food that I eat - the low GI index foods are the best to am going to make a list of the food that I can eat and then look at the GI index for those foods. It will take some time but in the long run it will be worth it.

So till next time

Good morning everyone.

Yesterday I spent most of my time in the kitchen. I made the cake , potatoe salad and macaroni salad. Then I decorated the cake . The next thing I knew it was already 5 o'clock. Hubby went to get dinner for us . I then relaxed until 8 and then went to bed. I don't remember touching the pillow. LOL

We are missing Dwayne. I sure hope he is doing better.

Mary, I'm sure next week will be better for you. You hang in there.

Kathleen, doing good. Keep up the good work.

Marilyn, your also doing fine.

Today we have the birthday party. We are heading up north so the fall colors should be beautiful. I'm hoping for a sunny day so the colors come through bright.

Hope you all have a great day.

Hugs Margaret

emoticon @ 176.6 this a.m. which is 1.8 lbs up from last week but definitely emoticon from the Monday! I am more focused again & adjusting my intake as well as choices so I'm doing better. I know it's going to be hard as I've also been on 15mg of Prednisone since Tuesday. Will be decreasing to 10 mg on Sunday for the following 5 days, then 5 mg X 5 days. That usually causes weight increase but it was necessary to get these Lupus issues back under control so I'm drinking more & trying to stay true to my diet.

Tonight I'm planning to make a Keto Taco Soup recipe. We woke up to much cooler temps this morning & A/C is still off with windows open. It's just 82 *F & beautiful sunny day with NO mosquitoes!

Just recorded to weights. emoticon emoticon

Friday - times is just going by so fast isn't it.

Weigh in on Oct 2 = 276.8 which was a loss of 1.4 from the previous week
Weigh in on Oct 9 = 276.4 which is a loss of 0.4

Total loss for October so far 1.8

Am having a good day - am using the new Spark Coach - today is Day 2 of me using it and must say I am enjoying it. Nice to come to the computer, log onto Sparkpeople and see my to do list of things I want to do for today - and each day I can add something new for that day - finding that very helpful.

DH is being very nice to me this morning - my bid kitchen windows (2 of them) that go floor to ceiling (our table sits between them) - well I mentioned that they were really looking grimy so he got out the bucket and my Essential Oils CLeaning Supply for windows (best every for windows) and he has been washing them inside and out - now I am needing to think of what I can do for him this afternoon as those windows are not easy to clean. I don't dare mention that all the windows are dirty as I am just pleased to even have just those 2 cleaned for the winter. Spring will come soon enough when we can do all windows.

Well, time to get up and walk the treadmill - also I have a 9 minute video saved from sparkpeople for arm exercises that I want to do today - at least one time today.

Has anyone heard from Dwayne - hope he is doing ok

Till next time

Morning everyone - hope you are having a great day.

Am waiting for a tv man to come and help DH work on setting up his new tv - we waited from 2 - 6 pm yesterday and then he called to say he couldn't make it and would call at 9 am this morning - well it is now 10:30 and haven't heard from him - hubby is going to give him another 1/2 hour - nothing like not being able to go out and to things downtown that need to be done because we have to wait for this fellow. Hubby has decided to call and see what is happening - am having a feeling that they have forgotten to come to do this work.

At any rate am doing ok - working on keeping on track with the food - am finding the total calories are on the low side but when I try to add more to the food then the carbs, fat and sodium go out of wack - what a challenge it is to get it all balanced out. But have another thought and am going to work up a meal plan with this new thought and see what happens.

Till next time

Good morning. Feeling a bit more rested this morning. Dressed & ready to get out in this beautiful day with our first cooler Fall morning the cold front delivered to us. It's 65 degrees out.

We have to get Val to the groomer this morning, then get a tire rotation done while we wait in town to pick her up.

Yes Margaret, the first weekend of Nov I have another nursing retreat then we head out from there to visit DH's family for a few days. We enjoy the mountains that time of year when the Fall colors are the best. It's also our anniversary then so we always try to have some quiet time away.

Hope all have a blessed day! And btw, the scale is down 2 lbs from yesterday so it's going in the right direction again! emoticon emoticon

Hugs,
Mary

Good morning everyone.

Mary, Your daughter looks very beautiful. She must have been so proud dancing with her oldest. Are you planning another trip at the end of the month? Lady no wonder you can't get caught up on sleep. LOL
I hope all goes well with your next test . Hope the medication helps you with the joints problem.

Marilyn, good going this week at TOPS.

Today it's my sister's birthday. So my friend and I will go to see her and take her out for breakfast. She's 76 today. I spoke to her yesterday to tell her we were coming and she complained that it would be to early. She likes her sleep in. LOL

Hope you all have a great day.

Hugs, Margaret

Greetings to you all. Slept in this morning. Woke up with headache but got my coffee & fixed eggs for breakfast with a small Lo Carb WW tortilla. Trying to get back on track. I'm afraid the scale is up about 5 lbs just since the weekend. I know some of that is fluid but some is from the wedding cake. I do have a weakness for sweets.

Dropped off my car yesterday morning at the shop to get cruise control fixed before the end of the month as it sure helps on long trips. Ended up costing me twice as much as they had quoted me because they found another issue when they fixed the first issue.

Went to Rheumatology appt. He put me on steroids for the next 3 weeks because of all the joint issues & Lupus flairs going on. After that, I got a call from ENT to say that something else showed up on CT & have to have an ultrasound on Thyroid glands on Monday.

Margaret, good for you getting that extra sleep! Sometimes we just gotta do that.

Marilyn, good job on another loss this week.

Theresa, Yes, at our age especially, a big event like a wedding seems to take more out of us. The emotions also add to the fatigue. The memory table added to that, bringing forth the ones that were not there to experience the joy of this marriage. I'll try to add a picture to my page after the post. This was when her 15 y.o. went to dance with her.

Hugs,
Mary

Morning everyone - blessing to all of you

@MARGARET3 - gosh it would be nice to sleep that long - I average 3 hours then wake up for whatever reason and stay awake for about 1/2 hour then sleep a little more - but have not had 8 - 9 hours all at once for years

Yesterday was my weigh in - lost 0.4 pounds - so that gives me 2 pounds in 2 weeks which makes me right on track of losing 1 pound per week. Goal is to lose 4 - 5 pounds for October so am 1/2 way there.

Chores for the day have been done - so am now going to have some time to do things I really enjoy doing - crocheting, and reading. And also doing some more work for my Bible Study class for next week. Last night was a good lesson - there were 20 of us in the class last night - learned some new things and ready to learn some more.

So till next time - have a good day - smile at everyone today as it will make them feel so good when you do.

Good morning everyone. I just woke up from a 9 hour sleep with another hour and a half waking up and getting comfortable to go back to sleep. That has never happened to me in my life. So I'm feeling good.
It was hubby's birthday yesterday he wanted to go for smoked meat. So we went and I thoight I would have so,ething different but they only served smoke meat. So I took a junior with a salad so that was only a half sandwick with a beautiful salad. We took our friend along with us and she had the same.
My friend who was going to have mouth surgery ended. Up not having it. The pills that the dentist wwanted her to take befor hand made her blood pressure go sky high for her so they couldn't do the surgery. Zo she came out for diner with us. LOL

Mary. I hope you can get caught up on your rest and relaxe. I'll say like Theresa it usually hits me afew days after as well try to get as much sleep as possible and no extra trave.ing around. Just stay put at home.

Theresa, it sounds like yoi ha a lovely Thankgiving. With your family. We just had a quiet one as this weekend we are attending a huge birthday for our DGS. All the family will be there and a lot of his friends.

Marilyn, jope you had a good weigh in at TOPS yesterday.

Hope you all have a great and restful day today.

Good morning all!
Mary, sounds like the wedding was beautiful! I know that horrid tired feeling after a big event like that. It usually hits me a day or two later. I hope you get some quiet time for yourself to recuperate.

Margaret are you going to show us a picture of the beautiful throws you made for the families for Christmas?

Fingers crossed for the TOPS weigh in today Marilyn!

Nice to see you back Deanna and congratulations on the retirement.

We had a great day with the kids and grandkids for thanksgiving yesterday. So I’m busy making turkey soup today

Have a great day everyone!

Good morning everyone, kind of rough getting started today. Very tired feeling very bloated and the scale confirms that I have been eating way too much and not drinking enough water the past several days..

I did get my CT done yesterday no results yet from the doctor. He said he would call when he got them. I have a rheumatology appointment this morning and have to drop off the car at the shop on our way into the city. After the doctor visit I will meet up with a friend for lunch while hubby goes to a Pastors Conference and lunch.

Right now I'm going to get a cup of coffee and wait for hubby to finish getting ready to leave. I think I'll wait in the recliner with my coffee. Hope everyone has a good day.

Hugs,
Mary

This afternoon we celebrated my youngest GS's 9th BD then they went home with their mom & new step dad so the house is quiet again. It's been a long day. Did get some grocery shopping done today while the boys were at school. It's time to get back on track now. Tomorrow is a new day & I'm ready to get back to some stability again.

Morning everyone

Cold in my part of the world so am staying inside.

We have a turkey that we need to prep for supper tonight - had called a friend yesterday thinking that maybe they might have had their dinner yesterday and was going to ask them to join us today as our daughter is away and it is just the two of us. She just called and said they are having their turkey dinner today and why don't we join them - hubby is having a nap so told her I would have to call back - think we will probably stay at home as we do have this turkey to cook up anyway - we will be eating turkey all week plus some I think - and I am thinking I am going to make up some turkey broth with the bones.

My meds have not twigged in yet - hope they do soon as am feeling uncomfortable - for some reason now every month I am having at least one time in the month that they don't work as usual.

Well, think I should get up and move some - so till next time

Good morning. It's Monday!

MARY - Sounds like the wedding day was perfectly lovely. The father daughter dance was touching. Very nice. Age should not matter. As long as they are happy, get along well and treat each other with respect that is what is important.

MARGARET- Good for you. You finished all the throws for the family already. I bet it is a good feeling to have them done ahead of time.

My allergies are almost gone so I have cut back on the meds. I'm feeling a lot better but I'm still keeping to strict food choices.
Take care

Good morning everyone.

Mary, sounds like you had a lovely time at the wedding. So much work for one day but worth every bit of it. When you get home I hope you have another nap. You deserve it.

Deana, take your retirement one day at a time and enjoy it. So far it sounds like your doing just that.

I finished my last throw for the family yesterday. My arm was sore seeing it was 2 days straight that I had been working on it . Now to wash them all and get them wrapped and put away for Christmas. Today I'm meeting up with friends for breakfast. Jean the friend I meet up with often has a little cabin fever. Tomorrow I'll take her to her dentist where she will be having surgery to build up her gum line on her bottom teeth. I hope all goes well for her.

Hope you all have a great day today.

Hope all of you that celebrate your Canadian Thanksgiving had a day great day of giving thanks as well as enjoyed family & friends gatherings.

Margaret, My middle DD is also turning 50 this month & oldest GS is turning 31!

Deana, I agree with your statement "There are so many things more important than age" DD & her new DH is the same, he is younger than her but as long as it doesn't bother them & they are good for each other & to each other, that is all that matters.

DD's Wedding last night was beautiful & so touch to our hearts to see the love & happiness between these 2 & the family & fiends that came to share the evening with them. We set up a memory table of pictures of her Dad & his parents & my Mom who are no longer with us. A song was played for daughter & father dance which several of my nephews, her Paran, & brother-in-law, all toke turns dancing with her as stand-ins for her DAD, ending with her 15 y.o. son as the last dance partner. There were tears.

By the time we got the decorations down & packed back up to head home, the rain had stopped & it was past 11pm. I think I finally settled down about 1 am but was in so much pain that I was still awake at almost 2. Woke up at 7 this morning for church but did get about 3 hr nap this afternoon. Heading to bed now. Has to be up at 6 in the morning to get boys off to school, then will head to the city for CT scan.

Hugs,
Mary

Hi Everyone,
Happy Thanksgiving to our Canadian members.
I am getting use to this new lifestyle.
Crazy week!
We went to see Eric Idle, from Monty Python on Thursday, to the Fair on Friday, on Saturday, we got together to meet our oldest's new boyfriend. He is very nice. I do hope her the best. He is a bit younger, but seems to be ok with that, and I am fine with it. There are so many things more important than age. He does seem to be good for her and to her. The grand kids seem to like him, that is what counts.
I did not weigh-in on Friday, I will get to that, need a week or so.
I got outside today and did a bit of work on my front flower bed with I have to really start over with so, I am getting out all the overgrowth. I have decided since I am so out of shape to take it a bit at a time.
Tomorrow starts week two of retirement--I am trying to get some cleaning done.
Have a great week.
Deana

Good morning everyone.

Mary, did everything go off well for the wedding? I hope your DGS let you rest today..

Kathleen, thank you for thinking of us for our Thanks Giving. I'm happy its in October we usually celebrate birthdays for October and Thanks Giving together but this years we are doing it a little different. Our oldest DGS will be turning 30 and our DS will be turning 50 so we ar having a surprise birtjday party for them next weekend. I'll make the potAtoe salad and the maccaroni salad to help my daughter out. I told her I woild make the cake but she said she would have it made because I was doing enough. I tell you they move away frlm home and we still worry about them.

Marilyn, my scale looked real good this morning as well. But I have to wait till Friday. So only time will tell.

It's another damp fall day today. So I'll be working ln my last throw for my family. This DGS wanted a rainbow of colors. That is what he got but it is more a blanket then a throw. LOL. Oh well it will be good to get them all finished and washed and labels sew on then wrapped . Because I'm finding it hard to hid them away right . LOL

Hope you all have a restfull Sunday.

Hugs Margaret

MARGARET - WOW is right. I surprised myself with that big loss this week.
I amstill taking the meds and I am starting to feel better. What I needed to do was stop eating all dairy, gluten, and spicy foods until I could figure out if one of those foods was the problem. It has been a real challenge giving up so many of my favorite foods but when you feel so sick you will do whatever it takes. Its only a couple of weeks but it may be milk (?) not sure yet.

MARY - Today is your DDs big day! I hope you had beautiful weather.

I noticed someone mentioned that today is Thanks Giving Day in Canada?
Happy Thanks Giving to all my Canadian friends here.

Morning everyone - are you having a great Saturday - hope so

It is a cool crisp day where I live but the sun is trying to shine which is nice. But due to the coolness am going to stay inside as I am sure I can find a lot of things that need to be done or fun things inside that I enjoy doing.

Laundry is done, floors have been swept, breakfast dishes are in the dishwasher, beds are made, grocery shopping was done on Thursday - so what should I work on now. Think I might work a little on the cookbook I am putting together. Also need to work a bit more on the baby blanket I have started. All fun things - nice having one of those days start by lunch - am blessed with a wonderful husband that helps out with the chores so we can get chores done early in the day and then both of us have the rest of the day for things we enjoy. Oh another thing just thought that I need to work on - our pictures - we have all of them on a attachment to the computer - now I am going through them all and editing them and putting them in appropriate folders - all our kids in one, grandchildren in another, friends in another, weddings in another and so on - will take time but will be nice when I get them all updated.

Got on the scale this morning - was very pleased with what it says - but am not going to share the number yet as weigh in for me is on Tuesday so want to work on keeping it at what I weigh today or even a bit less would be nice - I will be smiling real big if this happens.

Well, time to go and prepare lunch and then start my walk on the treadmill - till we next time. . . . . . .. . . . . .

Good morning. Thank you Margaret, even though we have thunder rolling already this morning, it will be a good day regardless. Enjoying a few minutes to sit & enjoy a 2nd cup of coffee before things really start moving. We go to the hall to decorate at 2 pm. DD getting her hair done in a little while. An exciting day although I know it will be long & tiring. Appreciate the good thoughts & prayers. emoticon

MARILYN Good going on emoticon breaking that lemonade and chocolate habit. My trick for getting on the treadmill early is I go directly from the bed in my pjs to the treadmill. Otherwise I keep putting it off.

Hope you are all doing well. It is overcast and cold here - only 39 F so am staying inside

DH is off to the doc - when he called to have his prescription for meds renewed doc only give enough for one month which tells DH he needs to make an appointment - it has been a year for him to have blood work so that I am sure is what is going to happen at visit today.

Had a good supper last night - homemade beef stew - and enough leftover for today and maybe tomorrow - I find that the leftover stew is even better then on the day it was made.

Yesterday we went for our weekly grocery shopping - as last Thursday we bought more than usual we thought we just needed to pick up more bottle water and orange for this week - well we came out paying $134.00 = but we didn't get any snack / junk food. Got a turkey which we will cook up on Monday.

Am feeling so much better - today is day 10 of no brisk lemonade or chocolate - and am feeling so much better. Also have made the decision not to eat after 6pm and not before 8 am and that is working out well also.

Am working on getting into a daily habit of walking on the treadmill - my mind and body it still fighting this habit but am not going to give up on it.

Anyone heard from Dwayne - hope he is doing well and will return soon.

Till next time -

Marilyn

Good morning everyone. It's emoticon Friday. I was down 2 pounds this week 224. Hopefully it will keep going in that direction.

Agnes, it would be great if you could check in with us on Friday. Then that way you could post your weight and it won't get away from you.

Mary, tomorrow is a big day for you so make sure you get plenty of sleep tonight.

I'll have a quiet day today as we woke up to frost and we are only at 35 f this morning. DD called she has a day off and wants me to go over to see her. I think she wants me to do something for her. LOL.

Hope you all have a great weigh in today.

Hugs Margaret

Hi All,

I've realized that it's not realistic for me to check in here every day. So, please forgive me if you don't hear from me on a daily basis. I've had a fever/cold for about a week, and work is keeping me busy about 3 days a week. I'm still exercising (except when I had fever), and doing some fun things, but it does seem that I'm a bit disorganized.

Margaret, absolutely get the warmest coat you can. I got one on sale from LLBean a couple of years ago and it is a delight to wrap myself in it.

Mary, best wishes for your daughter and for you and your family for a great wedding day.

All, I'll stop by when I can.

Best,
Agnes

Good morning everyone.

Well yesterday I didn't find a winter coat as they have not arrived yet . All they had were fall coats. But that's ok it means I get to go shopping another day.
DH and I are going for blood work this morning and then he has to go for an ultrasound on his stomach. I have no idea why but the doctor likes one when the man is over 65. I will make my appointment for the optamoagist at the same time.
After having the heat pump on for heat the pass few days we will more then likely shut it off today because we are going to have nicer temps today. I'll let you know.

Mary, 2 days and counting. The excitement must be right up there. So many last minufe things to get ready. Where will the reception take place? Mine was at home we had a blast.

Kathleen, it sounds like your really watching what you are eatting and that is good. Keep up the good work it will show on Friday.

Hope you all have a great day.

Good evening all, Hope everyone is doing ok. Staying busy here with only 3 days away for the wedding. ooks like I will be taking my 2 youngest gs home with us after the wedding so DD & her new DH can get away for a few days. Her boys are 15 & 9.

Margaret, I believe you had asked about DD. She is 43 & was married after HS but only for about one year. Bad situation that left her heartbroken. Then she lived with a boyfriend & had her 2 sons but never would agree to marry him. She finally broke free from him & the abusive situation she was in. About a year ago she started seeing this guy. When he proposed around Christmas or shortly after, she said yes. So here we are. He seems good to her & she seems to be very happy with him. She has always been a big concern for me. She is a little on the slow side of things & could not pass a 7th grade GED level so she finished school with a Certificate of Achievement instead of a diploma so I think you can understand why I have always worried more about her than my other 2 girls. She cannot be trusted with money but she does have a job & drives. But at my age, I am happy that she has finally found someone that will take care of her as I will not always be around for her.

Kathleen, we are back up in the low 90's here & actually have had our first day without rain in quiet some time. Glad you are having some milder temps. I love acorn squash & almost all kinds of squash. Enjoy them while they last!

Marilyn, Great post with lost of good info. Great weight loss this week also! Keep it up! Are you still doing your walking?

Agnes, Bernie, Deana, Theresa & Dwayne, hope all is ok with you.

Hugs,
Mary

Hello. Welcome Deana.
MARILYN - Great information and helpful motivation at your group and here too.

I have already started to be more strict with my food choices (because of my allergies) and I have been trying to get some extra walking during the week. When I go to the any store I park my car as far away from the door as possible. This gives me more steps in my usual day. Doesn't sound like much but all those extra walking steps add up. I'll take your challenge for the three months because I haven't be losing like I should.

We have been enjoying the acorn squash from our garden. I only eat a 1/4 cup at a time because it is high in carbs but it is so delicious and full of vitamins. We make it like mashed potatoes.

Snow in Canada already, wow. We are still dealing with tremendous amount of daily rain and warmer temps in the upper 70s for the weekend. I look forward to the snow, love it.

MARGARET- Have fun shopping for the new coat. I need to do that soon too.

Have a nice day.

Good morning everyone.

Marilyn, great job this week . Keep up the good work.

Today I'm meeting up with my friend to go looking for a winter coat. I'm looking for something that will really keep me warm and I don't care what it looks like. Being in fashion doesn't mean warmth.
Hubby is feeling a little better today . I think another day of taking it easy and he'll be fine.

Hope you all have a great day.

Afternoon everyone - how you all of you doing? Any snow in your area?

There was snow in the upper levels of our city last night - and it is very cold today. In Calgary Alberta - about 10 hour drive from here - it snowed and snowed big.

So it looks like we could be having a long winter - normally this cold we don't feel until middle of November or even beginning of December - and as my DH said yesterday, boy I am sure looking forward to summer - and fall has just begun!!

TOPS news = meeting was 'ok' though some wanted to talk over others. Weight: I lost 1.4 pounds this week - and am working this week to have another loss for next week - have food planned out this week - and am fighting the cravings today - but I know that should I fight through them for 7 - 10 days they will be gone and it will be easier from then on. So just needing to push through this next week or so and will be over the worst of the 'humps.'

One thing I am learning with being the leader of the TOPS group - when we aren't ready to make changes we 'fight' any suggestions that might help us to change. I was mentioning to them today about exercise - that we need to have intentional exercise to help us lose the weight. Of course there was one that started off fighting me on this and another joined in. Their comment went along the line of 'we are here to encourage each other and any movement counts.' I let them have their say then proceeded to once again talk about intentional exercise not just cleaning the house - and again they interrupted. I got once again let them finish then I said 'We are here to motivate and encourage each other in however our exercise looks like - and all movement is great. But before you interrupt me again please do the following. Look where you were one month ago with respect to your weight and consider what you have eaten in the month and what your exercise looked like. Have you made any progress? If you made progress good. If not look back 2 months and do the same thing. If you are going up 5 pounds and down 5 pounds from your current weight your are on the yo you diet - and you are not making any progress. Therefore it is time to look at your own program and consider maybe you need to make changes. Maybe you need to listen to how others are making changes or and maybe you need to look at making changes in your exercise - because if you have not made progress over a period of a couple of months what you are doing is not working?

The group went silent - maybe they got the point I was trying to share with them. Yes your regular day of cleaning the house, mowing the lawn, shoveling the snow - all that helps - but if you are not losing the weight then you need to change it up and add more than what you are doing.

I know for me I have been doing a yo you thing for the last couple of months and I don't like it - I took the time the last week or so and see what I have been doing and know what I need to work on - and that is what I was trying to convey to the TOPS group - we all have different food plans and different ideas of what kind of exercise and how much to do - but if we aren't losing on a regular basis we need to change it up

We have 4 of our of our members that have mobility issues. I talked a little about how to work and help giving them suggestions - just talking about going for big walks is great but if you are unable to do so it gets discouraging hearing about walking 5 miles every day. I mentioned things like if you have balance issues, just getting up from a sitting position standing for 30 seconds and sitting down again and doing this again for 4 or 5 times. Then every hour or so to do it again. Or standing with your back against a wall keeping your back flat against the wall so that you are standing really nice and tall - then hold your stomach in without rounding your shoulders but hold your stomach and while holding it in count to 60, then relax to the count of 30, then do it again = repeat 4 x. Surprising how this helps with the muscles that have gotten far to relaxed. Or when getting up from a sitting position if you use your hands to push yourself up - work on getting up with no help from your hands. Keep a record of how many times you used your hands for 7 days - then the next 7 days work on making it one less and so on.

Anyway I think you get what I am saying - we all need to look at what we are doing and quite fooling ourselves by saying we are working a program yet when we look back for say 6 months we really don't see any progress. In all honestly any one that has more than 25 - 30 pounds to lose should be losing at least 1 pound a month so in 6 months if we haven't lost at least 6 months we are really not trying

So on saying that - we have 3 months till this year is over - what can we do in 3 months - the 3 months of the year where there is a lot more temptation because we are now coming up with Thanksgiving, Halloween, and Christmas - all times when we tend to eat far to much.

I am challenging all of you to make these months - October through December - the best 3 months of our lives so far this year - showing ourself that we are worthy, we can take control of what we put into our mouth and the form and amount of exercise we do - lets end the year on a high

Are you with me? Ok so let's get started = till next time

Deana, great to see you back. Happy retirement to you. Hope you get everything done that you want to have done. I say like Mary you'll be back down before long.

Mary, Hope all goes well with your scan.

Marilyn, I wish you a great weigh in today at TOPS.

Kathleen, it looks like Mary is going to give you a run for your money this month . It should be interesting to see the results.

Theresa, keep up the good work.

Today it's raining pretty hard and hubby must have forced the wrong way yesterday as he has a sore back . I'll be going to get him some medication this morning. Then it's house cleaning day seeing it's raining.

Hope you all have a great day.

Hello Deana emoticon I was just checking my spreadsheet to record the last weights & saw your name then signed in to see you had posted. What a nice surprise! I also saw that your birthday is later this month so you're going to get back below that 150 mark by then, I'm sure! Last time you posted your weight was back in January. Great to have you back with the group!

Margaret, thank you for helping out this past month. I sure appreciate that. You're the best! Also wondering if you have a return appointment to see about the skull issues that you're still having??? I hope so.

Marilyn, sorry you're still having issues with your plan but I'm sure you'll be losing again soon. Keep at it!

Kathleen, next week I will be back on plan after the wedding. I will challenge you to do the same. We need to compare Keto notes. emoticon

Theresa, congrats on your success! Goody is on the way.

Agnes, we are missing you! Bernie too!!

Well I did not make the midnight deadline tonight but I was a busy typist & got another task completed for the wedding as well as got bills paid & made a visit to the funeral home for the wake of a friend who died of cancer yesterday...younger than us. We plan to try to make the funeral tomorrow.

Also had a return Dr vs today for that enlarged salivary gland under my left jaw which has still been tender & uncomfortable. By the time I walked out of his office it was truly painful as he pushed & prodded it. Monday I will be doing a CT of it.

Hugs,
Mary

Hi 48er's

I know it has been a long time, but I am hoping to get myself back.
I finally retired asof last Friday, Sept 28th. I am so happy!
The job has been extremely demanding and stressful. I gave 6 months notice to my director, since this was a company that really practices that 1 person per job is fine.
Even after six months I was not fully replaced, but I did the best I could and I have absolutely no regrets or remorse.
My weight is up, higher than it has been in years, I do plan to do something about that starting immediately. Today! I am at 151.6; which I swore I would never go over 150 again, but here I am.
It is nice to see so many of you hanging in here. I am going to get back into the swing of things, here.
So, what are my retirement plans, I am going to do more volunteer work. I am going to take time to get myself back on track. I am going to take more me time. I have to clean! We want to travel some but will wait for that until the dust settles on my new state. In the meantime, my first week is pretty booked and I am sure that will be a norm.
Best Wishes to all of You!
Deana

Hope you are all having a great Monday.

Doing much better now - have been working on making up some recipes from my program I am on - wanting to get about 2 weeks of different choices and when the middle of October comes will see about looking at a few different recipes to help with not eating the same things. I have a number of good recipes that have a low GI which is the way of this program I am on.

Have logged in my food for the day - carbs are where I want them, protein is at a good amount but total calories come in around 800 - would like to get them up more but I know I am going to have to push to get all the food on my list down for today - so tomorrow will see how I can make it a bit more. Making good choices re vegetables helps as they do add up in the calories but have to remember to consider the carb level of them as that adds up fast if you don't watch for it.

At any rate I am doing better today - as it is the 1st of a new month I have set out goals I want to achieve for this month such as
1) No brisk lemonade or chocolate for the month of October
2) Keep my carb level no higher than 50 - 75 grams
3) Keep protein level at 60 - 75 g
4) Walk on treadmill daily for 1/2 of a mile
5) Get in 64 oz of water each day.

So far I am on track for today - each day I will review those goals and check them off when I have accomplished them for the day. I am determined that I am going to have a great month this time.

Well time to get up and walk a little. So till next time

Good Morning!

Happy October back to you Kathleen. Rainy days here.

Sorry I didn't get to the weigh in last Friday. I've been having problems getting into the site again for some reason. But weight was 141.4. I think that's down a bit.

Have a great day everyone,

Happy October! The weather is crisp this morning and I love it. We have a huge Fire Bush (not sure if that is the correct name ) in our front yard and it is already turned from green to 3/4 bright red. So pretty.

Cooked up the last of the zucchini from the garden today. And a Low Carb meatloaf is in the oven for tonight's dinner.

I need to keep myself busy today and I am trying so hard to stick to my LC menu choices. I need to show a loss next Friday.

Have a good day.

Missed seeing Agnes & Theresa reporting their weights. & Missing Dwayne's posts. Good Afternoon.
Looks like most of us had a struggle this week with our weight.

MARILYN - I am low carb also and I have found that by eating more protein it raises the calories ( 1800 calories for me) and protein has no carbs. Like fish or grilled chicken-no carbs. Its a tricky numbers game but you will find what works for you.

MARY- The wedding is getting so close. How exciting for all of you.

MARGARET - Those Grands are keeping you busy but so wonderful you are able to enjoy them.

We'll be heading over to my son's house later today for a family dinner. So I will get to see my three grands today. My grand daughter had her high school Homecoming dance last night, she's 15yrs, second year high school and quite the young lady. The grandsons are 7 and 9 now and very active. I guess I will be shooting basketball later today with them. I thank the lord I can still do that at my age.

Have a happy day.

Good morning everyone.

Mary, sounds like your moving ahead with all the preperations. Just remember one day at a time and get your rest in there as well or you won't make it to the finish line. I'm sure everything will fall into place. Your doing a great job.

Marilyn, glad you checked back into your receipes.

Yesterday I wTched the little GGD for the morning. Then spent some time with DD. It was nice to have some time with here.
Today she just called and asked if I wanted to go for a drive. We are going to look at furniture for her living room. Hopefully she will be able to keep her dogs of it . Then we will be helping hubby to prepare the tempo for his motorcycle.
I've already made a stew for diner and have prepared meat for e other meals. That way there is no reason not to have a good meal through the week.

Jhope you all have a great day.

Hugs Margaret

Well I finally finished hemming & making alterations to the bridesmaid dress for DD's friend. I am so blessed to have a friend of another DD that is like a 4th daughter to me. Her children have grown up looking to me as a grandmother. She has been helping with decorations & today she brought the bridal & BM💐 & all the buttoniers & corsages. They are beautiful! I could have cried, but instead I did thank God for her. One week to go! emoticon

Just a quick hi

Hope all of you are doing well

Yesterday reviewed my eating plan and I saw numerous places where I was going wrong - was taking back food that I should avoid.

So am pulling out my recipes so that I can start making better meals to keep me on track

Have a great day everyone

Good morning everyone.

Mary, we all seem to do the same thing . When someone needs us to help out we are there always putting us back to square one. We never think of ourselves when we are in the moment helping others. So after the wedding you'll get back to it I know you will..

Marilyn, did you keep your list of your food intake when you first started your journey? It might help you to go back over it and refresh yoir memory.

Kathleen my doctor says I only havd to keep taking my alergy medicTion till the end of October. So maybe it will be the samefor you.

I realized that the growth that I had removed from my head keeps forming a scab. Each ti e it falls off it starts another one. Also I feel some more small ones starting around it as well. They don't hurt but they are annoing .
Today we will be helping out at our daughters house. I'll take care of the GGD while the others are working. LOL.

Hope you all have a great day.

Hope you are all having a great Friday - it is a nice warm day here - sun is shining which is so nice - but fall is definitely here so am enjoying one of these last few days of nice warm weather.

Have been looking at food and how to balance it nutritionally. I am wanting to keep my carb level down to no more than 50 g a day - and boy is there a lot of carbs in things you wouldn't think of. For instance did you know that garlic powder is loaded with carbs? So I am not going through all spices / herbs to see what they look at for this nutrition level.

One think I am looking at that when I can get a day's worth of food to 50 grams then the calorie level is usually way down - and that is not good. So am playing around with getting the calorie level up to 1200 but to keep the carbs down to 50 g = is going to take a bit of practice to get it to where I want it. Am also working on the protein level.

Why am I doing this? Because I am a diabetic and have now been diagnosed with Chronic Kidney Disease = in other words my kidneys are been tasked to work harder then they should - function level (60 is a healthy normal level) went down to 40 but is now back up to 47 so it is still now back to where it should be.

So I am taking care with my food now but still working on getting it better. And I don't like what the scale said this morning - sooooo really needing to look at what I am doing and why am I doing

Have a good day everyone - till next time

Good morning everyone. It's emoticon Friday. I didn't do so good this week. Been to busy to tired and ate on the run. I'm up 1 pound this week at 226.

Agnes, your friend is so right. When you get your aha moment it will click and you'll be on your way for sure. When the throws are all finished I'll lay them out on the couch and take a photo so you can see The pile will be minus 2 as I have already gave them to my DGS and his wife.

Mary, Your daughter is very lucky that your taking care of so much for her. But please make sure you have a good rests before the day.

I had the GGS and GGD sleep over last night and this morning was a rush to give them breakfast and then get them ready to go to daycare and to school. Honestly it's a work out even before I could have a cup of hot water. talk about throwing your day off. LOL

I'll check back in later to see how everyone is doing weight wise.

Hope you have a great weigh in .

Hugs Margaret

Friday weigh-in day. emoticon is up. 175.
Too much allergy medication and nasal sprays, just need to deal with it until I can stop. Meds usually make me gain a little. emoticon just a temporary set back.

Goid morning all. Ready to hit the road this morning. Need to drop off DGS at car dealership to sign final papers for a new car. Then to find Silver Sash for dresses if bride & bridesmaids. Bride has put on a few extra lbs & I could not zip her dress up at the waist so Mom has a solution. 😂

Anyway, need that cup of coffee first then off we go. I did hop on the emoticon this morning & see that it's not what it should be. Too many short cuts for meals this week. But whatever it says tomorrow will have to do for now & back on track after the wedding.

Hope to respond to a few questions tonight.

Hugs,
Mary

Hi All,

Mary, Somehow I sure all will be taken care of before the wedding, but I do hope you ensure that you get enough rest before then. Sometimes I worry about you.

Margaret, I sure would like to see one of those throws. I can't imagine making that many of them in such a short time.

Marilyn, I have a friend who is quite thin, who told me that she was very overweight earlier in her life. She is very careful now about what she eats and her level of activities. She's a role model for me as she maintains her weight well, is very active and is 81 years old. One thing she has said about it has stuck with me. She said that weight is a personal choice, and nothing anyone said to her made much of a difference. It was when she truly decided to make a change for herself that led to her weight loss and lifestyle change. So, those who you are with who aren't trying -- maybe they are just not ready to make that personal choice. It's great that you are.

Best,
Agnes

Good morning everyone.

Mary, sounds like your going to be on the go right till the end. But you know it will be worth it in the end. How many people will be there? Is this her first marriage?

Marilyn, hang in there.

Yesterday I found the wool I needed to finish the last throw for my family. Now after these 2 are finished and if I have the time I'll make 2 more for friends and then I can relax. LOL
Today I'm going to meet up with a friend for breakfast. I would really like to wait till tomorrow but she called last night and she is having a little bit of cabin feaver.
My computer is acting up so I'm going to post this before it disappears.

Have a great day.

Hugs Margaret

Where does the day go? Seems like there's just not enough hours in the day to do what i need to do. I did get started on hemming that bridesmaid dress but need another fitting to made sure it's pinned right.

My old Home Economics teacher & friend died yesterday at 77 y.o. Sad to see her go. Been friends with her & her family for many yrs. Went to the wake this evening.

Margaret, the wedding is oct 6th....only about 10 days left.

OK, tomorrow I have to get some shopping done. DGS is buying a new car so I have to bring him to pick it up. Well, go to close this if I'm to get it posted before midnight & still get some emoticon

Hugs,
Mary

Morning everyone - hope you are having a wonderful Wednesday.

Am feeling more confident today - not as frustrated - I am working on the fact that I need to put myself first with regards to my health - and for those that have weigh problems I can share what I have learned what has worked for me but should they want to continue on the interested mode rather than the committed mode I can't do anything about it. I find it difficult as I see these people on the same road as me and they don't get it - they tend to say things like 'I have always been fat so am not really worried about it' = it breaks my heart that they don't seem to care enough about themselves to take proper care - but I also recognize that I was where they are at one point - but I get it now and can only pray that they will get it before it is too late.

Think with the weigh in yesterday might have been a bit of a bloat thing going on because when I got up this morning my scale registered 2 pounds different from yesterdays weigh in - but am going to push forward, take care of what I eat and work on getting between 1/2 to 3/4 of a mile on the treadmill each day this week and pray that next Tuesday will see a nice number on the scale.

Have a good day everyone - remember to be thankful just to be alive

Till next time

Good morning everyone.

Agnes, I thought you were only working part time. It seems your getting right back into it again. LOL Hope you have some " me" time soon.

Marilyn, sorry to hear your having trouble with regulating your food. Keep trying you'll get the there.

Theresa, we got very heavy rain and high winds during the storm. We also got in the cold weather as well. We were ok but one of our neighbours lost a very big branch off his tree. thankfully it didn't land on the house. It was about 3 feet from his front door. We are in for more rain today and the temps are suppose to go up to 19 . Go figure. We will all be down with colds next week the way the weather is we don't know how to dress.

Mary, hope you got everything done the way you wanted it to be. When exactly is the wedding?

Today, I'll be meeting up with my friend from Walmart. It's good to touch base with her every 2 weeks or so. It keeps me on the ball. LOL We placed all the furniture back into the solarium yesterday. It looks pretty nice right now . Hubby will be going to help DGS clean out the cabin at DD house. Then try to get a ramp fixed in front of it so she will be able to drive in her motorcycle into it. One of these days all things will be in order again. LOL

Hope you all have a great day.

Hugs Margaret

Afternoon everyone - are you having a great day?

Weather here today is great - how am I doing - frustrated and feeling very unmotivated.

Weight at TOPS = gained = and am so frustrated with myself because I once again did it to myself.

Going to be taking time this afternoon to think this through and work on finding out why I am doing this to myself as I seem to be going backwards rather than forward. And my body is telling me it is not happy with this - pain is back up again and it is once again more difficult to get around =

So till next time
