I have about 100 to lose. BUT at 57 I need to have a reasonable idea of what my body will do and what it wont. That doesn't mean I can set my self up for failure though. I got rid of all the sweet stuff in the house since that is my killer. Made up my mind I was going to start today so here I am. Sadly I lost my 13 year old dog last night and it has been hard to not eat the pain away. But I got up and walked my 4 year old lab for 30 minutes. I just feel like I am running out of time. Thanks!

Oh yes. I'm 57 and started in January at 265. I'm now down to 226. Ultimately I would like to be around 135. As much as I wanted to hit 2 pounds per week on average I'm happy with my progress. I find the tracking to be so helpful. When I have a poor weigh in, I review what I did the prior week and normally it will show foods that I maybe ate too much of or exercise that was missed. It helps me to realize what I either need to eliminate/reduce from the eating plan or what needs to be put back in.

I have always struggled with my weight but with the help of SP I do believe I will hit or be at my "goal" weight next year.

MARILYNS70 - I will check out your group and am eager to join. Thanks for mentioning it.

HI, welcome to sparkpeople - and yes I have well over 100 pounds to lose and at my age (70) it seem difficult but I believe it can be done.

Since March 2016 I have lost 45 pounds - slow yes but it is coming off. As of June 12 of this year I became committed to making changes - and with these changes I am seeing results. I get weighed once a week (Tuesday) at my local TOPS chapter. On Tuesday June 12 I set a goal for the week of losing 1.5 pounds = I lost 1.2 = consider myself successful for the week. Then on Tuesday June 19 I set a new goal of 1.4 - 1.6 pounds to lose = I believe I have done it but don't get weighed for 2 more days -

If you come to my sparkpage you will find a group called 'Losing 100+ pounds with friends' It is a new group - only 1 week old - and we have 9 members. We would love to have you join us there -

I will be 53 next month and have well over 100 to lose from a wheelchair. Weight loss or not it will not affect my ability to walk so it gets frustrating. I have been exercising since the 6th (will hit my 500 minute goal for the month today) & watching what I eat since last Sunday. So far so good but it is still early on.

I have!
It took six weeks of doing everything right to lose the first pound.

Good Morning, friends! I am a 54 year-old woman with well over 100 pounds to lose. Like many, I've lost and gained countless times on as many types of diets. The good news for me today is that I've been binge-free for 14 days! I've been following a whole food plant based diet. In the past, I've dropped weight quickly in the beginning of any weight loss effort. Not so this time. Now, there are things that I know I need to incorporate - more activity, more water, etc. Has anyone experienced a slow start? Looking for some additional motivation to stay the course! Thank you!!
