LIVELIFE57, I'M SO SORRY FOR YOUR LOSS! You and I are the same including the loss of a furry heart...3 in a two month peri od.
And having turned 56 , I feel like I hear the clock ticking down Really loud. I want to enjoy the rest of my life. I lost so much time in a bad 30 year marriage, I gave him my life, my youth and my health! Stress really does make you sick. so I guess you could say I lost 280 lbs of stress 4 years ago. Now I have 100 of my own to go.

Checking in here at 55 and 330#. My weight has shot up since last year when I was diagnosed with thyroid problems. Been on medication. Last year at this time I was 265 I can't get a grip on this.
Now I am having knee problems and seeing the doc on Friday hopefully getting an MRI to tell me what is going on.
Hubs and I are taking a vacation in October and don't want to be a stick in the mud. We love are active trips of hiking everywhere.

I'm five eight and weigh in at 250 lbs, it's scary! All my life till I had my first child I weighed in at 112 lbs, then it has been a steady climb ever since, now at 62 years of age I'm finding myself unable to get the ambition or the stamina to take off the weight let alone sleep 8 hours at night, and am working full time, so not sure how stress affects weight gain for me. No time to exercise or walk, cause of the hours I put in. Any help would be appreciated because I feel totally at a loss. No pun intended.

I too have been dealing with this my whole life. Gain and lose. I need to lose about 220 pounds to get to the medical definition of healthy weight. I have had a lap-band for 12 yers and it is coming out next week. They have me on the same presurgical diet as if I were getting the sleeve. No slow starts with that! You can look up the goals for that and follow that for a week if you get stuck. You will have rapid weight loss because you are only consuming 500-1000 calories a day depending on the doc. Being binge free for any period of time is amazing!

Hello, I started my Spark journey pre-menopause and lost 20 lbs. pretty quickly. I began then at a 132 lb. weight loss goal. Menopause messed me up, and I maintained but couldn’t lose for 3 yrs. finally, I am losing again! At 57, after 8 yrs. here, I have lost half my weight! I am a member of the Slowest Loser sparkteam because I lose slow, but steady! It can be done! And the best part is you discover new things about yourself everyday! Good luck! And happy losing!

Hello All! I'm almost 60, my highest weight was 410, I'm about 300 now and aiming for 170. So, I've lost 100+ and still need to lose 100+. I lost the first 100 in my 50's and it took a couple of years. It was so slow and I was so large that nobody really noticed the change. I have had mobility issues for most of my adult life with about 20 broken bones, mainly in legs & feet, so I was on crutches until a couple of years ago when i tore my calf muscle and was told that I wasn't safe on crutches or walker, so should have been in a wheelchair for a long time. So now I'm mainly in my recliner (I also sleep there) or wheelchair. I still use crutches some because wheelchair doesn't fit in some places in our home. I used to think that these things would stop me from losing weight. But instead of focusing on what I can't do, I started focusing on what I CAN DO. Just do what you can do, and it is enough.

I have about 100 to lose. BUT at 57 I need to have a reasonable idea of what my body will do and what it wont. That doesn't mean I can set my self up for failure though. I got rid of all the sweet stuff in the house since that is my killer. Made up my mind I was going to start today so here I am. Sadly I lost my 13 year old dog last night and it has been hard to not eat the pain away. But I got up and walked my 4 year old lab for 30 minutes. I just feel like I am running out of time. Thanks!

Oh yes. I'm 57 and started in January at 265. I'm now down to 226. Ultimately I would like to be around 135. As much as I wanted to hit 2 pounds per week on average I'm happy with my progress. I find the tracking to be so helpful. When I have a poor weigh in, I review what I did the prior week and normally it will show foods that I maybe ate too much of or exercise that was missed. It helps me to realize what I either need to eliminate/reduce from the eating plan or what needs to be put back in.

I have always struggled with my weight but with the help of SP I do believe I will hit or be at my "goal" weight next year.

MARILYNS70 - I will check out your group and am eager to join. Thanks for mentioning it.

HI, welcome to sparkpeople - and yes I have well over 100 pounds to lose and at my age (70) it seem difficult but I believe it can be done.

Since March 2016 I have lost 45 pounds - slow yes but it is coming off. As of June 12 of this year I became committed to making changes - and with these changes I am seeing results. I get weighed once a week (Tuesday) at my local TOPS chapter. On Tuesday June 12 I set a goal for the week of losing 1.5 pounds = I lost 1.2 = consider myself successful for the week. Then on Tuesday June 19 I set a new goal of 1.4 - 1.6 pounds to lose = I believe I have done it but don't get weighed for 2 more days -

If you come to my sparkpage you will find a group called 'Losing 100+ pounds with friends' It is a new group - only 1 week old - and we have 9 members. We would love to have you join us there -

I will be 53 next month and have well over 100 to lose from a wheelchair. Weight loss or not it will not affect my ability to walk so it gets frustrating. I have been exercising since the 6th (will hit my 500 minute goal for the month today) & watching what I eat since last Sunday. So far so good but it is still early on.

I have!

Good Morning, friends! I am a 54 year-old woman with well over 100 pounds to lose. Like many, I've lost and gained countless times on as many types of diets. The good news for me today is that I've been binge-free for 14 days! I've been following a whole food plant based diet. In the past, I've dropped weight quickly in the beginning of any weight loss effort. Not so this time. Now, there are things that I know I need to incorporate - more activity, more water, etc. Has anyone experienced a slow start? Looking for some additional motivation to stay the course! Thank you!!
