About four years ago I found out I was type 2 and immediately went into attention mode with SparkPeople. I had been slacking and the pounds had started creeping back on. I very quickly got it under control with meds, diet, and exercise. After losing some of the weight Doc took me off the Glipizide altogether and cut my Metformin back.

I then stalled for about two years but was comfortable at two hundred thirty pounds, but still not fit. Last June I started walking every day and doing the 8/16 intermittent fasting protocol. I gradually built the walking/Gazelle/videos up to fifty minutes or so a day and stuck with my calorie range all eaten within an eight hour period daily and it's working well for me.

Four years ago when diagnosed, my a1c was around fourteen and my glucose was around three fifty. As of mid-February with no meds for six months, my a1c was 4.9 and I no longer check my glucose because Doc says I'm no longer Diabetic. Now I feel pretty sure that the walking has a lot to do with it, but I'm just as sure the fasting has helped as well. YMMV, but it can be done. Go for it!

I do intermittent fasting almost every day - I don't normally eat my first meal until lunch and I don't snack after dinner which is usually around 6-6:30. On weekends I'll eat breakfast mainly because my DH and I like to go to auctions on the weekends and I never know what time we'll get home for lunch and I don't eat junky auction food!

I do, twice a year.
One day a week in Advent, in preparation for Christmas, and one day a week in Lent, in preparation for Easter.
