I've been menopausal for close to 10 years and still have hot flashes several times a day. Hrt lessens them somewhat, but they have never gone away. Did not find any herbal or over the counter treatment that worked at all. I have noticed that if I don't eat anything past late afternoon and keep all my meals at room temperature or cooler that there seem to be fewer hot flashes.

When I went through the "hot flashes" I found Estroven, which contains Black Cohosh. Read more about Black Cohosh here:
It did a lot to relieve the hot flashes; however, use with caution if you have any of the conditions it lists. And remember, if the dosage recommended doesn't seem to work, DON'T INCREASE the dosage you are taking, or take it more frequently than recommended! It may take time to take effect. Hot flashes will keep on going past menopause, but they will decrease in frequency and duration of episodes.

I feel your pain! I had a total hysterectomy about 10 years ago - my body did not like the HRT patch that was prescribed - I would have red welts on my abdomen wherever it had been placed. So I stopped using them and suffered for about a year with horrible hot flashes and night sweats. I finally found an alternative doctor who prescribed bioidentical HRT for me and that has been a life-saver. I rarely ever have hot flashes or night sweats now, but when I do, I know it's because I've been eating things that aggravate them in me. And for me anyway, I have to avoid processed foods, especially sugar and foods with gluten in them. Good luck!

Anyone want to share any remedies for hot flashes while going through menopause? They wake me up at night - sometimes almost every hour, and it is frustrating to not be able to get a good night's sleep.
