Hey, Jenn -- welcome!

There can be lots of reasons our bodies hold on to (unwanted) pounds. Read all you can on these boards and you'll learn from those doing the hard work of weight-loss. Also the educational articles and videos may prove very helpful!

Three simple things that always work for me:
1. Write down everything you eat (it will help you notice the mindless bites)
2. HYDRATE -- 6 to 8 full glasses of water every day
3. Move -- doesn't matter if it is "exercise" -- sometimes just moving is better (walking, cleaning, doing laundry, washing the car, dancing) that keep you from getting discouraged!

Stay well and stick with it!

The fact that I can plant a seed and it becomes a flower, share a bit of knowledge and it becomes another's, smile at someone and receive a smile in return, are to me continual spiritual exercises.

Hi all, I am new to this board. I have always been extremely healthy and fairly fit but struggled with weight my entire life. Out of the blue I was diagnosed with a chronic lung condition and was put on a ton of meds for a year and a half. Here's the funny part, while on the meds I went down to my desired weight (145) and had NO problem staying there at all. My tastebuds were messed up so food didn't taste as good. Then I went off the meds last April and kept eating whatever I wanted and put on 20 stupid pounds! And now I cannot get rid of them. I've tried counting calories, I work out with Beachbody on Demand and they just stick. I am, of course eating more. Must be to put on all that weight. And drinking wine and alcohol again which I couldn't stand while on meds. I hate being this weight! My clothes are tight and nothing looks good on me. If I could just lose 5 pounds I'd feel better and keep going but even that seems elusive and then I end up giving up. Again. Looking for support.
