Hi Millie. I joined Sparks 10 yrs ago at 58, and last April I finally found an anti-aging doctor who put me on Metformin, Bydureon, and Armour Thyroid and I dropped 35# then fell and broke my femur, so I'm working on getting back to normal, and then dropping another 20#. Do find a good doctor who will work with you to get to your goals. The ones I had seen told me "At your AGE you can't expect to lose weight since you have Metabolic Syndrome." The doctor I saw had me read the Metformin insert which said "IF you might become a Type 2 diabetic you can take this medication." He said "You are close enough." It has helped me stop night time cravings.

Hi Millie,

I've tried both Weight Watchers and SparkPeople and both have their pros and cons. However, overall I'm really pleased with SparkPeople and do not regret not renewing my WW membership.

YOU can do this!

Hi everyone!

New to Sparkpeople and to this over 50 group. It was Sparkpeople vs. Weight Watchers and Sparkpeople won. I'm trying to lose the weight that has crept on over the last decade and get back in shape. As a 58 year old female, I need more motivation, time and energy. Need to eat less (already eat healthy) and get my butt off the chair more. Hope all goes well!
