This is getting pretty long, so for the benefit of those that didn't scroll back to see the original post which includes the link that prompted the thread in the first place, here it is again:

We have a local bargain outlet called "Ollies" and they have my only needed additive at an affordable price. That is sugar-free "shots" (syrup). The cheapest I've ever been able to find it is Sam's Club and that's a half hour away. DaVinci and several others come in 25.4 oz bottles for the very lowest price of five dollars or so while Ollies "Cafe al Fresco" brand is under a dollar for the 12.7 oz size. If you don't like artificial sweeteners, this won't be for you. If you're like me and have been using them for forty years, this was a great find. (They even send out fifteen percent off entire purchase coupons several times a year when we stock up on both coffee pods and additives for about half price.) Grocery Outlet also has a good price on pods.

I love/need my coffee in the morning, and used to drink a pot or two (in my earlier years) all day long. Then cut it out entirely. Now love it in the morning, and avoid it in the afternoon so I can sleep better at night. But if I'm dragonass in the afternoon, I'll have tea. Still caffeine, but somehow not as jittery, and seems to leave my system faster so it doesn't interfere with sleeping. I also realized I would drink coffee when I was thirsty, instead of water, so another reason to keep it my morning fix and nothing more.
I used to drink it with loads of chocolate sauce and half and half. Now I use cashew milk (3+ cups water, 1 cup soaked raw cashes, inch salt, tsp vanilla, blend in vitamix until smooth) as my coffee creamer, and add a tsp unsweetened cocoa powder. Gives just a hint of chocolate flavor and mellows out the coffee.

We make our own blend of four different types of beans at the grocery store and then grind them, switching between grind types to get a variety of flavor and richness. Our current blend has espresso, kona, french roast and breakfast blend.

Black and strong for me please.

I love coffee but only with sugar/cream. I usually drink one huge mug in the morning with flavored creamer and days I'm home add coffee as it cools but no more creamer. Sometimes at work in winter I also drink in the afternoon, but then usually very little creamer and sugar.

I love coffee. Started drinking it when I was in college, and I still look forward to that first cup in the morning (I'm in my 60's now). Oh, the smell of a fresh cup of coffee!!

When the kids were young, I was a den leader in the cub scouts and we'd go camping. I was something of a "purist" and we did all our cooking over the campfire-- but I took along a campstove, for the specific purpose of making coffee in the morning. I wanted it ready as soon as possible.

At one point, I was drinking (jmo) way too much... maybe a pot and a half each day. But over time, I cut that back to 2, at most 3, cups a day. 2 in the morning, maybe one late in the afternoon or after dinner. A really good cup of coffee with a splash of half-and-half, is as good as a sugary dessert for me-- and a lot less calories.

There's another reason people run into trouble with coffee. Nobody uses an eight-ounce cup anymore. These days, everybody has a bathtub with a handle on it and they call it their coffee cup. When a pot of Mr. Coffee only gets you two cups, you know you might wanna downsize a little.

But, when my doctor said I needed to cut back due to high blood pressure, I did just that. I cut back.
I have a couple cups during the day and call it my special treat.

I see. We could go back and forth all day citing differing opinions. Evidently our own opinions.. and those who we choose to listen to... are not the same. I normally would've ignored a thread like this, but you put it out her after a simple little comment on another one. Okay, ouch.

If you want your coffee, go ahead and have it. I certainly do. But I'm not fooling myself that it's 100% good for me. It's more like a punch in the ole adrenals,
but a little won't kill me. emoticon

Giving up coffee, alcohol, drugs, eating junk food, and all the harmful habits indulged in by humans is admirable. The only difference between coffee and the rest of them is that there is really no scientific reason to do so. Adrenal fatigue is not a medical condition and there really is evidence to suggest that coffee drinkers do live longer than non-coffee drinkers. So if you want to give up coffee, that's great. My message is to those who don't want to give it up. Just trying to show that in moderation it's not harmful and may actually help. Here's another link:

Yes, it has antioxidants but it's still hard on the adrenals which is why I'm striving to keep my consumption very low, and kicking the daily habit.

I still see negative comments here about drinking coffee and I'm not sure where the roots of that thinking lie. It has been studied exhaustively and the best controlled and most recent research suggests that it's not just okay, but good for you. As with everything, the caveat is moderation. It had me near to passing out years ago, but in hindsight, that may have had something to do with third shift, getting four hours of sleep a day and drinking about a pot and a half of Mr. Coffee every day. I gave it up and everything was good. These days I don't work and mostly get plenty of sleep. I also drink a couple cups of caffeinated mixed with a couple cups of decaf and maybe one regular diet soda daily with no ill effects at all. Research now suggests that I'm also getting several positive effects as well. Bottom line is moderation as with anything in life. Too much coffee and my hiatal hernia doesn't like it, too much and my heart doesn't like it. Just the right amount and all is well. Here's an article that brings that ideas together:
