I believe it's never "too late" to make a change, in order to live your best life, no matter how old you are. One of the things that got me motivated to make a lifestyle change in the first place (and stick with it) is because I'm not getting any younger. I was very fortunate that some of the health issues that come with being overweight and not exercising, hadn't affected me.... yet. But as they say, wisdom comes with age-- and I knew I couldn't dodge that bullet forever, unless I rose up and committed myself to taking care of me.

I've got the body of a nineteen-year-old man. My wife told me to give it back. I'm getting it all wrinkled.

When you get to this point in life, you come to appreciate how a lot of old sayings got to be old. It's because they're so accurate. The one that galls me the most is the one about hindsight being 20/20. So now, I try not to look back, only ahead. I read stories about the hundred-year-old guys running thirty-three second 100-meter dashes and another one who did his last marathon. Looking back can be good or bad, but then again, so is looking ahead. Maybe nothing really changes? I look at those less fortunate than me and think about how blessed I am. Never quit!

Wow, I am facing turning 70 the end of this year! Man, even saying that seems surreal. Where is that optimistic 18 year who graduated just last year -- or maybe the year before?

I remember she was a fun-loving, ball of energy, who had big plans and a can do attritude. Someone once told her that "Nothng is impossible to a willing mind," and she decided that was a good attitude to have. One of her big flaw was thinking she was fat because she weighed 129 lbs. Then she was beaten down by a few broken hearts and disappointments in life. She's been in hiding for quite awhile.

Now, when I peek in the mirror where she used to hang out, I see a frumpy old woman with about 80 lbs to lose, who sometimes just looks weary.

But now, I'm determined to reconnect with that earlier me before my birthday. Oh, I'm sure Old Me will have more wrinkles and be carrying some extra pounds, but I'm determined to find her and embrace her.

And this time, I won't let her go!
