Well, that first post is a great accomplishment in itself! Have you considered starting a SparkPage? Please feel free to add me if you do.

Don't try to do it all at once. Work on one habit, such as tracking all you eat, then when the habit is established after a few weeks, then pick another area to work on, such as a 10 minute workout each day. As you progress, you can add more activity/fitness as you are able. If you try to work on too many things, it can become overwhelming and you don't want to give up. Working on one habit at a time is manageable. Just don't give up. You might fall, but always get back up.

"The thing is I don't know where to start."
Start by logging all you eat.

Hello SparkPeople,
I've been registered for a few years now. Finally got the courage to reach out to the community to say hello. I first signed up when our first son was a baby. He's 17 now and will begin his last year of high school. In-between the time when I first signed up and now, I went back to school. Got my GED, an AA, and BAs in Sociology and Philosophy. And, I want to continue my education. But, that's still on hold. When I first started on SparkPeople, I used to exercise while following along exercise videos. I also entered my weight and my target weight. Looking at my profile, I can see that nothing has changed, with the exception of putting on a few more pounds. Needless to say, this extra weight is not good. I think the reason I am reaching out now is for support because I've found it so difficult to discipline myself in an exercise routine and in a healthy diet. And, because I want to make sure I am going to do my part to be around as long as possible so I can enjoy my grandchildren when the time comes. That's something I look forward to with excitement and anticipation. The thing is I don't know where to start. Thank you kindly for taking the time to read my post! Juan emoticon
