The picture above is of the British Columbia Canada - the province on the west coast just above Washington state.

All the orange markings show the fires

The province has been under an 'extreme fire warning' since June.

Air quality = the normal is 10 = the city I live in is 49 below I shows a picture of Kamloops on a clear day and the 1st day that air quality was at 49
The province is suffering - a lot of the natural resources of 'timber' are now up in flame - many people had been evacuated and many have lost their homes.
And there is no rain in the near future - - a lot of fires all they are 'trying' to do is prevent them from growing but not having much luck Please think of all of the firefighters in all the normal heat and then heat of the fires and all the gear they have to wear - it is taking a toll on everyone

Hi Ladies,

Hope things are better Marilyn! It has been about a month since anyone posted. 3PF, I'm in AZ and we're in monsoon season which means heat plus humidity. I think it's normal to get a little lazy and blue when it's difficult to go outside. The humidity broke a bit and I got out for a nice run today. I also had a few problems with back stiffness. I realized that when I was running and working out the most, everything felt great. So, I'm getting back into that. I hope to get in some weight training this weekend and sprints next week.

I also stopped tracking my food for a while. We all had our birthdays in late June/July, which means there was plentiful amounts of pizza, steak, and my personal favorite, cake. I do enjoy cake!

Let's get back to it, shall we? Who's with me. I put about 2.5 pounds on while I was AWOL, so I need to start by getting rid of that.

Happy August--hope you're all doing great! -Karen

2pintsfan = glad to hear from you - it is so quiet in this group that I took time to stand back to see if anyone was going to post - glad to hear from you.

We are suffering up here in British Columbia Canada where the province is on an extreme emergency fire alert - pretty much all of the province seem to be on fire. The smoke is horrible - over 14,000 people have been evacuated so far and they have another 10,000 on standby. So if you are people that believe in prayer please prayer for the firefighters who are doing the best they can, for those that have lost everything and that rain without lightning will come soon though there is no rain expected until end of August.

At any rate am doing reasonably well. Due to kidney function being reduced and having diabetes I need to get this weight off otherwise my quality life will be reduced greatly let along living for many more years

So I am now about to go and work on getting 1/2 mile on the treadmill. Also needing to relook at the food in the house to make sure it all is in accordance of food for healthy kidney function / diabetes

Take care

Bsck again. Glad to see that Marilyn and Karen are still here. I have been super busy, lazy and not exericising. Still good weight- fluctuate from 182-183- not losing but not gaining. I really am stiff and need to get back to working out- its just so hot - 104 with heat index that jsutt going from the car to the house is stifling and when I have to go out in it at work, i'm drained. But I notice that when I try to squat to get something off the lower shelf in the fridge, it is difficult- so now I'm back to working out- starting tomorrow- will start slow since it has been a few weeks- We did some hiking a few weeks ago and we were walking 4-5 times week- so actually not as bad as it could be. I just need to get back to some strength training. Still working at losing some more- it will happen albeit slowly.

hi! I am new to getting fit over 50. I am a 56 year young lady who just had total knee replacement. My weight reached 275 waiting for surgery and the first 10 days after lost 15 lbs., however I am gaining those pounds back slowly even though I do exercises twice a day and ride my stationary bike at least once a day. I watch what I eat and try to move as much as possible. I just need some encouragement and maybe some ideas. My weight this morning was 265. Also the leg I didn't have surgery on has a torn ACL. I guess I should also let you know that almost 3 years ago I was hit by a truck and flew through the air landing on my head. I have severe headaches and don't think, speak or concentrate like I used to before the accident. Tammy

I think I would have never found this group under another name! The difficulty of making progress after age 50 is what brought me here. But, a positive name would definitely be good too. "Slow and Steady", or "Keeping the Faith" come to mind.

I'm happy you're making progress Marilyn! Thanks for sharing that and stay strong.

I am not making much progress with weight, but I feel strong and fit, which makes me happy.

If I don't check in tomorrow, please have a wonderful weekend and stay motivated! - Karen

Hope you are all doing well - am hoping that more of the group will return as it would be nice to hear from you = please don't stay away because of difficult times = we are here to encourage you / help you in any way we can through those times.

Am pleased with my progress - funny because this group is called 'no progress' but I am making progress = maybe we should think about changing the name of the group from negative to positive

Hope you had a good weekend Marilyn & all!

I'm losing energy....10th straight day with temps over 110 degrees. The pool is too warm for relief.

I work next door to the ice rink. I may have to start heading to open skate a couple times a week to get some exercise.

My oldest son turns 21 this week! Time flies.

Have a good week. Hope it's cooler where you are! -Karen

Good morning everyone - hope you are enjoying a great Friday - please remember to have a great weekend without going off your healthy eating plan

June is turning out to be a good month with respect to weight loss. More medical problems but am working on those also. So much of my medical problems will improve (not go away but improve) when I have more of this weight off.

As of today for June I have lost 6.9 pounds = so am hopeful that when the month ends next week I will be able to report an even better number

3p --that is great. You should be able to get under 180 by the end of July. That sounds very doable.

Marilyn, you're doing so well on the treadmill. I'm happy to hear about your progress.

I am making crazy slow progress with the weight. I haven't lost much but feel like my clothes are fitting a bit better and I think I have lost some fat, so that is good. My goal is to get under 140, but that is going to take a while at this rate. I was 147 today. I turn 55 in late July. I would like to be around 142 by then. It takes a very strong effort on my part to just stop eating.

Despite the slow progress, I am doing very well and feeling great. Even though it's wicked hot I did get out early for a run the last two days. I went in the pool yesterday after my run and that was quite a disappointment, as the water has gotten quite warm. I was looking for refreshment and it was more like a bath. This is the price we pay here in Phoenix for all the fantastic weather we get in the winter months.

The worst time of year is late July through August when the monsoon hits and then we get heat combined with humidity and the overnight temps are around low 90s. I don't want to think too much about that yet. The good news is that we can go up to the mountains for long weekends to get out of the heat. But it is not too early to prepare myself mentally for when that hits. It's very difficult to stay positive during that time. I will have to look for some indoor & water activities to keep active.

By this time next week we should be down to 105 degrees an that is not so terrible when it's dry.

Talk later--have a GREAT day! -Karen

Good morning everyone - hoping you are all well

For those that have not posted in some time = we miss you please come back = please don't stay away when you are struggling as that is the time to reach out to us - we know what you could be going through and understand - so please come back and share with us

Am on a good path at this time - am working each day to stay on this path. The more days I get under my belt the easier it seems.

To tell the truth today is my 60th day of logging in - a good streak for me = and I am seeing that because of that I have had the best success ever since joining sparks many years ago. So how about starting a streak of logging on - even if it is to log on and report to one group that you are doing ok - before you know it you will start seeing changes.

One change I started to see after logging in was my exercise - I am doing it more consistently now. Out of 22 days in June I have walked the treadmill 17 days and that is a record for me. Needless to say I am going to work on getting even better for July

Looking forward to hearing from all of you

Hello ladies:
I've been missing in action for quite a while. Just needed to step back a bit and regroup. I am happy to report that despite all this I'm down to 182- go me as the last time I checked in it was more like 185. I started at 189 so I'm happy. The inches are going slowly away as well. I find that I no longer log everything I eat but find if I make good choices the weight slowllllly goes down. I have been walking with my husband and that has been nice. As long as I'm still losing and not gaining anything back, I feel that I'm good. I still want to get below 180 and am shooting for that by end of July- we shall see. But int he meantime, I had a birthday, hubby had a birthday, mother's and father's day and our anniversary. WE also went out of town once and had friends in town for 5 days. All in all no weight gain with all those special occasions - so this makes me very happy.

I read a few of your posts- Marilyn and I'm happy that you are exercising so much and keeping up your progress. KD- I don't know how you handle the heat- I about wilted today and it was about 97 - but with humidity probably hotter.

Will try to check in more often.

Good morning - KDH it was nice hearing from you. I agree 115 degrees is hot we are at about 80 and it can get up in the mid 90's here

I am doing well on the treadmill - 20 days this month and I have walked on it 16 days so that is pretty good for me. I have had 2 days where I walked 15 minutes (broken down into smaller segements though) but usually I just get in 10 minutes. As I built more strength I know I will have no trouble getting in 15 minutes and more - working on getting it up to 5 solid minutes at one time but it does take time due to my back. But it is important that I continue to help strengthen the back as well it is good for the kidneys which I am having trouble with now

Am pleased with the progress I have made so far this month - and we still have about a week left to go.

How about you - much progress?

Hi Marilyn,

It is sooooo hot here in the desert today. It has been over 115 degrees for the last few days. I worked out hard on Sunday and the last two days I have felt lethargic and super worn out. This always happens to me during the summer. I hope to use the pool a bit more this summer as a means of getting some exercise. Come to think of it maybe I'll get on the treadmill after work today also.

How are you doing? Still getting on the treadmill regularly?

Hope the rest of you all are still out there fighting the good fight:) -Karen

Hi Marilyn & all,

Got back home after midnight last night after 4 very full and active days in Chicago/Northwest Indiana. I ran on the Lakefront Trail in Chicago and it made me deliriously happy:) I really love running.

The 5K run was tremendous. Our team, the Action Jacksons raised over $7000 for the benefit of Lurie Children's Hospital in Chicago. Jackson finished the walk with a little help and a few short cuts. My sister, who is about 60 pounds overweight, walked the 5k and I am incredibly proud of her. She has hip pain. She says it feels like bone rubbing on bone. Ouch. I know that perhaps you feel something like that too Marilyn. I am inspired by my sister, and by Jackson.

Eating one meal a day seems to be working for me. My weight is down a bit. I am exhausted from the trip. Have a great week!! - Karen

KDH1980 = you are doing tread. Yes the streaks are great - since I have started counting the days re on the treadmill it has helped getting me on it the next day even when tire.

Yesterday it was difficult re the treadmill - I had been to the doctor and when he touched my back he said 'Oh boy it is having a spasm - and it hurt (uncomfortable the rest of the day especially when I got up to walk). So today went to have blood work done and tomorrow I will be having my back x-rayed as he says the cold (feels like sitting in a pail of ice water) is not from diabetes (thankfully) but from a pinched nerve. Don't feel pain from it just cold - so he looked on file and said it has been over 5 years since it was x-rayed so he wants it done again to see what is happening in my back. He said it could be connected with my sore tailbone.

Believe the plan I am now following is starting to work as the scale is down today - and this plan says that some people have lost up to 10 pounds in 14 days. If interested look at the book The Mayo Clinic Diet - doctor has advised me to consider it as it is one that is doable for the rest of my life as it is 'getting back to the basics.

The one think I like about this plan is that is has a 15 habit checklist - and if you just follow the checklist you can lose weight as it is all about making better habits.

I have a group called 100 days from now where I am doing this program - so if you are interested come and have a look - if it is something you would like to work through, all that is asked is that you commit to participate for 100 days - that way you would get full benefit of the 'program'

Have a good day - hope all those that have not posted in some time will return soon

Marilyn, Thanks for the prayers. Jackson is so brave and strong. He inspires me, as YOU do also. The streaks you have going are something to be proud of. You are building great habits a little at a time. You can't go wrong that way.

I had a great run today....5 miles with intervals. I lifted heavy weights yesterday. We had a wonderful dinner Sunday with both boys and their girlfriends over. It was really fun. We also celebrated our neighbor's college graduation over the weekend. I ate cake and brownies over the weekend! Totally worth it though because every once in a while you have to enjoy a celebration!

When I don't check in, it's usually because something is frustrating me. I hope the rest of you girls are doing ok. Have a good week & be kind to yourselves:)

Good morning - hope you are having a great Sunday

I am taking it easy today - did not go to Church this morning (hubby is on Worship Team today) because my meds haven't clicked in yet. Wasn't going to take my 3 am meds so I could go early to church but by 7 am the pain / discomfort was to much so ended up taking them. Now to wait it out - all this because of IBS

On the good side I believe that the food plan and the motivational program I have are good together. Started the combination yesterday and today I was down 0.4 of a pound. I know it changes daily and that is no problem as long as I see some result at the end of one week.

So I am off to the races and look forward to what the next 100 days will have for me.

Looking forward to coming back to read some messages

Getting on SP and doing what you are advised will get you the results you want. Drinking the correct amount of water is important. I started this Jan 1 and have lost 30 lbs....make sure to do the water.

Good morning everyone = have a great Friday

Karen = sorry to hear about your nephew = I will add him to my prayer list = good luck on your run

Am doing well = making small changes. This week my focus has been on getting in a min. of 10 minutes on the treadmill - have done so every day since May 30 so have started a good streak. Also doing the same with water = after 7 days I will add another change to the streak = I know I have a few things to make a habit and I see - finally - that this is the way to do it

Looking forward to hearing from all of you

Hi Marilyn & everyone!

Work is keeping me super busy. I'm running....doing intervals...I'm lifting...I'm barely eating. I feel great and I think I am losing fat. The scale goes down a pound or two each week and then I just snap right back to the higher weight. God made some bodies resistant to weight loss and mine is one of them. I am blessed that I feel strong and I am able to move!!

I'm running a 5k a week from Saturday to benefit Lurie Children's Hospital in Chicago. My 8 year old nephew Jackson is being treated at that facility for leukemia. I have raised $1500 so far and I feel blessed that I am able to do this for Jackson and so many other families.

We are going to the mountains tomorrow and have a busy weekend. I'll try to check in next week before I leave for Chicago.

Be kind to yourselves:) -Karen

Good morning everyone = hope you are having a great Friday = it is hot already so need to get out for some Vitamin D = plan to do that this afternoon

Chelle = the treadmill is my downfall = I use it 1 - 2 days and then nothing for a week. I need to get committed to at least 10 minutes every day = so that is something I am working on.

Menus = I will get out a few of the menus and post them = some very nice meal plans (menus) for supper

Our two dogs (8 and 12 years old) went to the dog groomer this morning - so am waiting for hubby to bring them home = will see about taking a picture of them and see if I can post it here = they are so cute when cleaned up

So time to get up and get moving = hope to read more messages when I come back

Good morning friends!

Chelle--half the battle is admitting you have a problem. Your honesty about yourself is a great asset. I know you've probably read every piece of advice in the book. I think what has helped me is that I just stopped buying the junk that makes the binge so satisfying. Now, when I want to binge the options are much more limited. I just can't get super enthused about pork rinds and dark chocolate. However, the pork rinds satisfy the crunch and a piece of dark chocolate and maybe some berries usually satisfies the sweet craving. Because neither one is so delicious that I want to keep going, the binge usually fizzles out. You will find your own way to conquer it! Remember, you deserve to eat high quality food!

Marilyn--tell us some of the meals you prepared....you got me thinking about doing a menu plan for next week. With the boys home from school the menu has been hearty food most nights. I've been staying under 1400 calories. I feel super energetic and my exercise clothes feel better on me.

I hope you all have a great weekend! Take some time to relax and play! -K

Thanks for your support Marilyn.

I'm working on the Tame Your Sweet Tooth Challenge. I'm on day 5. I've binged since I started but I'm been binge free today and yesterday.

Congrats on the no pop. Almost a year. Keep up the good work. When do you plan to start your new streaks? I thought you were already doing 15 minutes on the treadmill.

Put on some upbeat music.
If you find yourself dancing in your seat, take it a step further. Get up and start dancing on your feet.
You'll burn more calories that way.

Hope you are all enjoying a great Thursday - it is nice and warm here so am going to spend a little time outside this afternoon enjoying it

Chelle = sorry to hear you are struggling with binging = that is a habit that takes times to overcome but I believe it can be done = take it one day at a time working on making good choices = and if you haven't tried yet work on recording all your food down = sometimes it helps with thinking about whether you really want to record a binge.

I have 2 streaks going and this is how I am doing with them:

Logging on = 32 days as of today
No pop = 233 days without any

2 other streaks I want to start are
Water = 8 glasses a day
Treadmill = 10 minutes min. a day

Looking forward to reading more posts when I return

Hi ladies. Sorry I haven't been around lately. I'm still struggling to get my binging under control but I didn't do bad today. Hopefully things will take a turn for the better. I joined the Tame Your Sweet Tooth Challenge. Hopefully that will help.

Hi All,

Marilyn--can I come over for dinner? Great job---planning your menus for the week. That is a great way to set yourself up for success!

Well, the 2 pounds I lost over the last two weeks are magically back. Why is it that I lose like a third of a pound or .2 pound per day, and then 2 pounds come back all in one day? Frrrrrustrating!! Just when you think you can't try any harder than you already are, you find out what you're made of I guess. Anyway, the gain has been there for the last two days, so it doesn't look like it's temporary. I did have a few extra carbs over the weekend, but nothing crazy. I know my body stores carbs and carbs also make me retain water.

Grrrrr. Here we go again. I will get those pounds off this week. Ran 4 miles today.

Have a great week everyone. I hope things are going smooth and steady for y'all.

-Karen

Hope you are all enjoying this great Sunday = it is warm here where I am and looks like it is going to be like yesterday = hot in the afternoon (so hot that we thought we should turn on the air conditioner but we didn't as it seems to early for that)

Am finishing putting together 7 menus for the coming week = a few new recipes to try = all days are low in sodium and the starchy carbs are out = so hopefully I will see good results

Have a good one everyone

Good morning everyone - well just about good afternoon I guess

Am getting frustrated with the scale - it is going the wrong way and I don't like it - it has to stop and start reversing! ! !

Dentist visit went well - was able to get in and out of chair with not to much trouble with tailbone. But yesterday was something else - had to go to foot doctor - and his chair is unmoveable and I was not able to sit on it properly so had to make do with sitting on my walker with foot up in his lap - very uncomfortable for leg - needless to day the rest of the afternoon tailbone ached - and it bothered me some during the night. Somewhat better today - just getting in and out of the car seems the worst right now.

Am enjoying doing the 100 days from now - here is a link to it if you are interested in joining me there

Well, am working on some recipes that are low in carbs and low in sodium - will see about posting some if anyone is interested.

Chelle I guess the closest thing I do to batch cooking is using the crock pot. We cook chicken/turkey tacos or chili quite a bit. When the boys are home we will eat it all in 1-2 nights. When it's just Jeff and me, we eat it for two nights and freeze the other half. We occasionally do some spicy beef also. If I'm cooking for them, I'll boil a box of pasta and it lasts a few nights. One night we'll do a jar of marinara and Costco meatballs. Then the next maybe Alfredo sauce and shrimp. I try to never eat the pasta, but I'll eat the toppings. I have done homemade sauce in the crockpot too. I don't cook as much when the boys are at school because I don't want to eat it. I probably need to get a few new crockpot recipes that are low cal.

Another thing I do is make salad on Sunday nights. I fill a large plastic bowl with a mix of romaine, spinach and kale. Sometimes I throw in a package of broccoli slaw to get a little extra veggie. We eat salad every night so we usually eat that up in about 3 days.

I get home late from work, so if I haven't planned something, it usually ends up being salad and whatever Jeff feels like eating since he gets home first.

Karen, I try to think myself out of my funks too. I feel that if I can pinpoint what's bothering me then I can fix whatever is wrong and everything will be all right. That hardly ever works. So, like you, I wait for it to pass. Unfortunately, a binge usually helps me. I used to take meds but you pretty much have to be a guinea pig to find the right one with minimal side effects. I'm glad you're out of your funk for now and feeling better.
You won't believe how much popcorn I eat. There's an elderly man on my job that keeps me well stocked with it. At one point I had 4 large bags at work and 6 at home. Low fat, low sodium. I'm not really a pudding eater but I think I'm gonna give it a try. I've got to get this addiction under control.

Marilyn, I hope everything went well at the dentist, both for your mouth and your tushie. What recipes are you making?

Do either of you batch cook at all?

Put on some upbeat music.
If you find yourself dancing in your seat, take it a step further. Get up and start dancing on your feet.
You'll burn more calories that way.

Chelle

Hello lovely ladies,

Thanks for chiming in Chelle. I don't know if the depression gets worse because of a bad weigh-in, or if I react worse because of the depression. I definitely feel a chemical imbalance at times though, but it tends to be pretty short lived. I am a positive person overall. When the depression hits I have a hard time thinking myself out of it. I do understand about using food for comfort--but it seems like stress is more my binge trigger these days. When I feel blue I tend to shame myself into not eating much of anything, which makes me more depressed because I'm hungry! Anyway, it's a cycle that plays out every couple of weeks. I don't really want to medicate. Exercise and sunshine tend to help.

I feel really great today! I have been incorporating some intervals into my running and walking. Interval training is all the rage for fat burning, but I think you have to be in decent shape to attempt it or you can injure yourself. I have been doing strength 1-3 times a week also and feel like I'm getting stronger. The scale is just not giving me much love, but I felt like my jeans were pretty loose on me the other day, so that is a good sign.

Chelle--until you can break out of the junk food habit, maybe you can try a junk food makeover. I eat pork rinds dipped in light sour cream mixed with ranch dip when I need a crunch these days. They are very low in carbs. Or another alternative is fat free popcorn with some butter flavored cooking spray and white cheddar seasoning. Popcorn fills you up and if you eat a whole bag it's only a couple hundred calories. My go-to sweet treat is not bad either--buy the sugar free pudding cups. Try the chocolate pudding with a half a banana sliced, topped with whipped cream and a teaspoon of chopped walnuts or almonds. Its sweet, creamy, and crunchy. You feel like you've had dessert and you're under 200 calories. The vanilla is good too with peaches or any kind of berries.

Please be kind to yourselves today:) Thanks for all the support! -Karen

Sun is shining and I do believe we are going to have a warm day today - nice

Needing to go to foot doctor this afternoon = so it will be a fun time getting in and out of car and then sitting on his 'funny chair' with my sore tailbone = but I did well at the dentist yesterday so hopefully will do the same today

Am going over some recipes that are low in carbs and low in sodium - then making a list of groceries so we can incorporate some of them over the next 2 weeks

Have a great day everyone

Hi ladies.

It seems that we're all going through a bit of a rough patch. I wish I could give you all hugs.

Im sorry you've been feeling down Karen. I go through bouts of depression myself. It's awesome that you managed to stay active through the worst of it. I would have just found a nice comfy place to binge. I'm glad you're feeling better.

Hi P-Fan. I missed you. I'm sorry you've been going through a lot of drama. When it rains it pours. Before you can get through one rough situation another one comes along. Life! I hope things have settled down and are more peaceful.

Marilyn, our great motivator, maybe it's ok to take a little break from the treadmill and try some other activity. I have faith that you'll get back on it before too much time has passed.

As for me, I'm still struggling with my eating habits but I'm managing to stick to my workouts. Yoga classes have helped my back tremendously. I'm seldom in pain now. I don't know why I've been overindulging with the junk food but I'm determined to get my eating under control.

Have a good day ladies.

Put on some upbeat music.
If you find yourself dancing in your seat, take it a step further. Get up and start dancing on your feet.
You'll burn more calories that way.

Chelle

Hope you are having a great day

I am still working at lowering carbs and sodium = think I am now going to have to get out my low glycemic index recipes and see what I can find there.

Also need to get committed to walking on the treadmill = am feeling myself slipping into a not motivated state so am going to fit it today in order to keep on the right track

Marilyn--I'm so sorry for your loss. You continue to shine a light on all of us. Thanks for being positive even when you've experienced a loss in your life.

Long time without any posts. My emotions have been a rollercoaster these days. I think hormones play havoc with them. What used to be "feeling a little blue" has become a very sharp dip in my mood. It can be almost debilitating. I hate to be a whiner. Yesterday I felt it immensely. I walked for an hour and 40 minutes and followed that up with a brief strength session. It helped me feel a tiny bit better but normally a long walk like that would pick me up quite a bit. Today I woke up feeling fine. I just have to remember when I'm in the middle of it that it is usually gone in a day or two. I cut back to just one tiny meal yesterday and finally got the scale to budge--one pound gone. I am going to have to be on my guard this week to keep it from coming back. Only 11 more to go! I think if I can lose 1-2 more I'll feel a little more comfortable putting on my tennis clothes again. A couple of pounds makes a huge difference on me.

Hope you're all doing okay. It gets difficult to keep up the exercise and watching foods and portions day in and day out. You all motivate me. Keep going. Have a great day and week! -Karen

Hello:

Not been on for quite a few days- waterbed sprang a leak and we were dealing with that. Today had flat tire and had to replace all four since they have 50k on them. Weighed myself last Tuesday and Wednesday and was down to 184- but then by Thursday up again to 186- no change in eating so really unsure what is happening. Have not been working out or anything - just trying to stay in range of food intake. Birthday is this week and sadly I will not make even down to 180 which was the revised goal. Was hoping for some loss but in looking back on the last 5 months, have just lost and gained 4-5 pounds- never going below 184. I log my food, exercise but lose nothing. Time to measure again so will do that and see what that brings. Not really motivated at the moment as nothing is going right

Chelle = thanks for the message. I understand a lot of people when struggling tend to withdraw. But they tell us that is the time we should be reaching out rather than retreating. It is difficult to do so though when we are in the habit of withdrawing.

Look forward to hearing more from you

Hi Marilyn. Just checking in. I'm glad to hear you're doing well. I'm still struggling with my eating habits but I'm still doing my mini workout.

I don't know where everyone else is. With me, I don't check in as much when I'm struggling. Maybe that's the case with others. I hope not. Maybe everyone just super busy. Anyway, I'm still around. I might not check in everyday but I'm not throwing in the towel.

Have a good day.

Good morning everyone = hope you are enjoying this wonderful Friday that we have.

I am on Day 5 of 100 days from now = I must say having daily questions to think over is helping = things like list 10 reasons why you want to lose weight. I thought that wold be easy but I got 5 and then really had to think for another 5. Am looking forward to all the progress I will see at the end of the 100 days.

Todays goal is to walk the treadmill for 20 minutes = I missed out on yesterdays so want to make up for it today.

Wanting to work in the flower beds this afternoon (get some sun in) getting them ready for my new rose bushes and tiger lilys

Hi ladies.
I've been having my ups and downs. The ups are that I'm still doing my mini morning workout and my back hasn't been as achy. There are actually times when it doesn't hurt at all.
The downs are I still haven't gotten my eating under control and I experienced an exertion headache while doing a more strenuous workout. I've never even heard of such a thing until got it and googled it. It felt like my head was going to explode. Anyway, it's suggested that you should take it easy for about 2 weeks after getting one. So that's what I've been doing. I'll still do my mini morning workout and I'll walk but no heavy weights.

I'm glad to hear you're doing well Marilyn. It's awesome that you're sticking with using your treadmill. Keep up the good work.

Put on some upbeat music.
If you find yourself dancing in your seat, take it a step further. Get up and start dancing on your feet.
You'll burn more calories that way.

Chelle: This program I was talking about = 100 days from now = helps you stay on track by giving you daily things to think about / journal about. I have found it helps me a lot in not just my weight loss but other areas of my life all.

Congrats on your accomplishments Marilyn, especially being able to go off your blood pressure meds. That's awesome.

I don't know that I'm ready to commit to the 100 days of weight loss yet, but I will keep it in mind.

I did strength training today but I'm still having trouble getting my eating under control. I think I was bored and lonely at work and I used tortilla chips to pass the time. I'll try to do better tomorrow.

Put on some upbeat music.

Chelle = sorry to hear you have falling off the wagon. Time now to put that in the past and get back onto your healthy eating plan. Come to my sparkpage and look for the group 100 days from now = it is a new group and I think it might help you somewhat. It is based on the book 100 days of weight loss by Linda Spangle (I contacted her and asked if she approved me to start up the group and she said yes = she has also joined the group)

I am on Day 2 of 100 days from now = I love how there are things to do each day - not difficult things but things to help you move ahead.

I go for to my TOPS meeting this morning = and then when I get home I will be on the treadmill. Did 15 minutes on it yesterday and am going to do it again increasing the speed a little.

Have a great day everyone
