Thanks Gals, I do feel better with all of the encouragement here. :-) I work tomorrow, off sat. then work Sun. I will try to be a little faster, But, I don't know what that has to do with cleaning in a room, as you can not move that fast in a crowded room as some rooms have a lot of stuff in them, (some have too much stuff) but, it is suppose to be like their own home.

We had some sun here today, that was really nice about the best sun we have had here since the beginning of the year, as it has been so gray and evrything. Sure will be glad when spring is actually here....

Have a good evening all.

Finally able to sit down for a while. Baby went home around 2:00. Older sons 2 kids came after school, ate supper, now at karate, will be back to spend the night.

I haven't been able to keep up with everyones posts. Even if I don't post, all of you are in my thoughts and prayers. You all are an inspiration.

Kathy..how does your gazelle keep track? You said steps..how does that work? Mine is speed, distance in miles (broke down in tenths) time and calories.

I did 1 mile around 3:00, then 1.5 at 5:30...need to walk another 1.5. emoticon

Susan, congratulationns on the weight loss...I'm sorry that you've been ill, but loss is loss!!

Macye, winter has arrived in the country's heartland. I didn't make it here yesterday because, along with watching Stella, I was shoveling snow. We got a little over 6" yesterday, another 8" overnight--it's still coming down.

MerryBH, you're braver than I am. I will not go out in the cold..I guess respiratory issues scare me a bit.

Charlie, burning out is something most of us have done in the past--repeatedly sometimes. We do it until we do it right!

Rosie, I'm so sorry that you're receiving pressure from work. It's bad enough that you have to work at all. I will pray that you receive more positive comments at work.

Terri, yesterday (before it started to snow) I saw my daffodils with buds. The snow's so deep now that the buds aren't visible. I'm grateful for the moisture and I'm thinking that the farmers are too.

Andrea, I am sorry to hear of your aunt's passing without you getting the chance to offer a proper goodbye. As for the snow, my driveway is on a slope and I don't stand a chance of driving anywhere. I'd get stuck trying to get the car into the street. My neighbor got stuck in his driveway! I'm in no hurry to get anywhere though. Be careful if you're able to drive.

Margie, Belle's a smart little girl. I don't know that any of us is crazy about that poking stuff in the hospital. I know I'm not a fan. Oh, yeah, I did 12,911 steps yesterday!! Highest yet.

Sharlene, I'm glad you're feeling better. I just finished my last antibiotic for my broncial infection but it's looking like it is finally gone.

Frances, sounds like keeping the bag packed is not a bad idea.

Barb, I'm staying in. The snow's really fine right now; it should be coming to an end fairly soon--IF the weatherman is correct.

Pleasant evening to all,
Kathy

Wow Margie, hunting alligators. Just what I had planned for my morning exercise. I'm not walking outdoors today either, Ei - it's 14 drgrees and windy.

I'm usi.g another new device - a tablet - so my typing is pretty rough! Guess i'll try again later when I get the hang of it.

Good morning
18 degrees here 0 with wind chill.
Snowed earlier. So tired of Grey sky, grey lake, white snow or bleached brown grass. I need some color. Bah, Bah, Bah. Humbug!
I thought I checked in last night, but see I didn't. Went to the fitness center did an hour of cardio for a total of 5.39 miles (bike, VMX rope pull, and arc trainer) 55o calories. Also went to the Killer Coffee Club meeting. It was fun and the first time I have been able to go since last fall. Will be leaving soon to go to neurologist to get the results of dh's MRI and then he also has an acupuncture appointment.
On the subject of unions, we had 3 unions in our school district and everyone belonged except the principles. At Cornell University (dh's last position) they were also unionized.
At Friendly's they were not. Unions have to be invited in by the workers. The workers have to vote to form a union. Takes a lot of courage to spear head this and chances are unless you have overwhelming support from your fellow workers, you will be out of a job.
Good to to all

Good morning ladies. It is 19 degrees here and really COLD......brrr emoticon ..Kirby, Add me to your list of walking partners. I am on the next plane to see you. LOL....... emoticon emoticon emoticonIt is really more fun to walk and talk with someone. I do not like walking outdoors alone. When it warms up, I will walk more outdoors at my oldest daughters. She takes the kids and Niamh, the oldest will ride her bike ahead of us and we will walk for at least 30 minutes, so that is always fun.(-: Anxious for warm days here, can you tell? emoticon Frances, Great advice for Rosie.(-: Rosie, It does sound like you are feeling better and the advice from your ddil and friends is helping you with our moral support system. emoticon Nice to see you back with us Sharlene. So sorry you have been so sick. That is a long time with the flu.Speedy recovery to you and do take care yourself. emoticon Margie, Great job with all your activity. Did you know the water we drink while working out, does not count, toward our 8 for the day?? Our YMCA instructor for class told us that. It is good to drink while exercising to replenish our sweating and perspiration, we have when we move at a good speed. I was so surprised. Anyway, I drink a lot anyway, always have, so it works out for me. emoticon Well, today is my fitness class, 60 minutes, so better get going and do my dishes here, so I can leave the house. I put my water in a aluminum bottle to keep it cold. Used to take water bottles, then heard those are not good either. Always something to think about. Enjoy the day all.
Andrea, Hope all is going well and you will travel back home safely too after the funeral. Will be sad, but good you could make it there. Hugs, Irish Ei emoticon emoticon

Well, again I walked 1.5 miles x 2 this evening to get my 4 miles in, I had walked 1 mile this morning. I don't like walking that distance at a time. I like doing a mile x 4 times a day. I can usually get 1 mile in while the baby is playing. She naps on the floor in the living room and the gazelle squeeks sometimes and I don't want it waking her up. My sons classes was suppose to be online, it was the month of January, the college changed it to "on campus" month of February. He told them they had better change it back or it won't continue. Son and wife decided she would be "on campus' and he would do "online" did it this way so one of them would be home with the baby and be able to put the 4 yr. old on the bus. Class ends at noon , hour to get home, then he works evenings. I love my grandkids, but I don't think I can do this for a year if he stays "on campus". We'll see what happens. emoticon

Anyway 4 miles done...9 water...and still have 200 calories left.

A while later.....dh has been channel surfing, over 200 stations and NOTHING fit to watch. Growing "weed", just what everyone needs to know...hunting alligators, going to go that tomorrow.. emoticon ...new one starting "freakshow"...I can't even stand the previews. Everytime I think they can't possibly show another reality show.... surprise! He is watching Duck Dynasty. I can watch it, but don't care for it that much. What happened to old fashion movies with a plot? A good comedy or mystery, the old westerns????

Sounds like a great idea,Francis,,,,, Kirby, I wish I could spend some time with you as well,, emoticon The weather here is also, very windy, snow blowing and cold. We have had very little sunshine if any for this year as of yet...

Sharlene, good to hear that you are better, prayers for a speedy recovery...

Francis, that's basically what my daughter in law said, as she said there are rules and regualtions that they have to abide by, and emoticon SoMuch for those words, they make me feel so much better and emoticon to everyone else as well, and for all your Prayers, my daughter in law also said to make sure I document every meeting I have with them and everything that was talked about, know one thing if they get rid of me for age or etc, they may have a grievence filed agaiknst them, because I would do that... Hopefully that won't happen. But I feel so much better, I was beginning to feel better but much much better now... emoticon

Thank you so much my emoticon 'S

Nice, Kirby! here, it is freezing and windy and we have a snow advisory for the night. Wish I could come visit you for awhile.

Welcome new folks! nice to see new faces and we'd love to hear all about you.

Condolences, Andrea. You will be in my thoughts as you make your journey. Drive safely.

Rosie, keep in mind that they cannot force you to retire! They can recommend, suggest and even urge you, but as long as you are doing the job, you are safe. I have said, for years, that if the so-called labor unions had any interest in bettering workers' lives, they would be organizing health care workers and fast food workers instead of the overpaid professions. I wish there was a way to force them to represent people like you. Well, hopefully your employers recognize how hard you work and this will blow over.

The post holiday books are rolling out and I've been busy getting them on the shelves (and out the door). Of course that also means my own reading list just exploded again! Reading "The House Girl" by Tara Conklin, now - so far it's quite good.

My daughter's baby shower was today and she says they are buried in baby stuff! With two more to go... To make matters worse, the closing on their house is delayed so it looks as if the baby and the house might occur simultaneously. Guess I should get my bags packed!

Have a good evening, all.

Got up early but definately not rearing to go. Snow and nasty roads. Dh went with me to pick up the baby at the younger sons house. While there, older son called to see if we had made it OK (he heard on police radio)...appears the shorter route I normally take was really bad and there was a bad wreck, it happened about the time we would have been going through there. We didn't take that route only because we knew it probably wasn't cleared very good.

Then we went to drop off Belle at the bus stop, new driver and he went past the stop 3 times. Ended up driving her to school.

Morning sucked...came home and walked a mile after the baby ate b/f.

Check back later

Mayce we do, do that. There are four hallways, and on each hall we both work on the same hall, one works on one side and the other one works the other side. We do split all the other things as well, we both work together in the dining rooms, also the one housekeeper that has been there as long as I have and is just a couple years or so younger ,than me, he does do a room or two sometimes if I need it. The younger ones, don't. Generally we work together on the shower room and the back bathrooms or sometimes one will do the shower room while the other one does the back (employee bathrooms) depends on who is working and what they want to do, We work from 7:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. with a 30 minute lunchbreak and a 15 minute break in the a.m.

Ei. that is what I am working now is part time. The superviser had cut all my hours in half back in Nov. of 2009. I only work two days one week and three the other week with one of the days being a Sunday. They really just expect too much from us and that is actually in all depts. Some of the residents see what goes on and some of them tell me that they expect too much from us,,, and the Administrater;s "boss's" only give her a certain amount (budget hrs.) for all depts. But, I look at some things this way, they are not the ones doing or trying to do everything they expect us to do and make the facility a "clean" envirament (spelling) for the residents.... Well, enough of "Venting" for now. emoticon all for listening!!

Good morning everyone, emoticon
It is 21, snowing and overcast. We have a lake effect warning from the weather bureau for up to an inch an hour. We will see. Coming home last night was icy.
We have a class this afternoon and dh wants to stay in town till this evening for a meeting at his church.
Rosie is there a way both housekeepers can work together to do the rooms. Split the heavier tasks and lighter tasks. Maybe working with someone would make it go quicker. Just a thought. emoticon
Nas thanks for reminding us to drink water. emoticon I am so neglectful on that.

Ei thank you for the complement. Truth is I tend to be very sedentary when I am not actually working out. (Think computer emoticon emoticon and reading) And with the Dare to Lose they are pushing you.
I also have an aggressive competitive streak when it comes to a competition. Guess that comes from having a Dad who was a fantastic championship coach in 3 sports. And a family work ethic that was to ALWAYS do your best. emoticon
I have had to work at unlearning that as not everything has to be done perfectly. One of my issues.
Have a great day all.

Few inches of snow fell last night, cold, 21 degrees and cloudy today. emoticon I guess tomorrow will be the same way. No walking outdoors in OH for me Kirby. Enjoy your warm day and your walk. emoticon Macye, You amaze me with all the exercise you do.
No aches or pains for you, that is great.Glad you can keep it all up. emoticon
Margie, That tony little gazelle sure sounds like a wonderful tool to have. Great job!! (-: (-:
ROSIE, I feel so bad you are going through all this at work. Sounds like a very strenuous job and hard work.Too bad you cannot do it part time. It may relieve some of the very hard work for others to do. Or else, do the hardest work first, before the easy jobs. Anyway, it will work out. Glad you talked to the admin. at least. Will keep saying prayers that you can get a good answer to solve this stress for you. hugs, to you. emoticon
Having my garbage disposal looked at today. One piece needs replacing. I just got through doing this at my townhouse and glad it is working well now with the proper splash guard put inside. emoticon Hope this one will be as easy to fix. Have a good day all and drink the water. hugs, Ei emoticon

Nas, no it is far from being resolved as far as my circumstances and Mayce, I am at my wits end, what gets me, is two of us housekeepers, have 32 rooms apiece to do when we are full, and the dining room twice a day four offices, one office being, just a meeting room, the fron foyer, the lobbie, front public bathrooms, the nurse's batheroom, the shower room, the back bathroom, two soiled utilities, the breakroom, the activitity room, the Directer of Nurse's room, the Nourishment room, and in the rooms, they want whoever has an easy chair moved Everyday and cleaned under, they expect Too much from us. plus when we have a room move, moving one person to another and then all you can do is basically pull trash and spot mop where they need it, check supplies, and etc, and you can't move an easy chair when they are sitting in it. and so it goes... emoticon Dear God, Please Help, Amen. emoticon

Evening everyone.
Wow. What a lot of news today.
Andrea, I am so sorry about your aunt and pray you will be able to safely attend the funeral.
Hugs.
Welcome to all the new folks. The more the merrier.
Rosie I can so relate. Just do your best and smile.
Kirby hope it is sunny for your walk tomorrow.
Did my 4 miles split between a bike and an arm bike.
Had Dare to Lose tonight. First team challenge. 6 cardio machines (Treadmill, ARC trainer, Vmx rope pull, rowing machine, stair climber, and espresso bike) Everyone had do every machine. Each machine had the resistance, incline etc set and then you had to do the number of minutes they said. Your calorie burn was recorded and that is how they will figure which team won.
Went to the warm water pool just to stretch the muscles so I will be able to move tomorrow.
Tomorrow dh and I have a music class at the senior center.
Everyone have good dreams and a good day tomorrow

Got my last mile in about 9:00 tonight. For the newbies...My walking is done "inside" on a Tony Little Gazelle. My goal is 28 miles a week.

No matter how slow you go...you are miles ahead of those sitting on the couch!

Andrea, So sorry for the loss of your aunt. Safe travels to you tomorrow in this cold weather and snow. emoticon Rosie, Sorry you are going through this hard time at work. If it were me, I would ask my boss to have a private meeting with me and let her know your situation and how you feel. All the best, hope it works out well. emoticon I'm drinking my 8th glass of water now. Trying to drink more this week and keeping track.
emoticon MerryBH, Charlie-B, and Terri, Glad you have joined us. Keep walking and moving, tracking is important too. That helps me lose when I track daily. I used to do different challenges with teams, but I stopped. It was too much time on the computer and I do have other things to do, so I keep track of my own and works better for me. I think we all need to do what works best for us. emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon Well, going to read now. Have a nice evening all. It is cold here in OH, wind is blowing, 24 degrees and some flurries, few inches on the ground now. Brr....hugs, Ei emoticon

emoticon Rosie, I hope that we get to go. emoticon We'll sure have to be very careful. Hopefully the snow, will calm down. It is supposed to get colder, so that is a good sign, for the snow to stop. Have a great evening emoticon Andrea

Been busy babysitting today. Son didn't force Belle to go to pre-school today. Who knew just taking the band aid off her hand would make such a difference. While we were getting her dressed (of course she still wasn't using that arm) we took the bandaid off where she had her IV. I am trying to carry her baby sister down the steps and Belle is saying I need help, now it's her legs !!!! By the end of the day, she was back to being grandmas little helper....when I took her back home she was doing her version of pushups. She is still saying...."that poking thing is not for me" and is is no hurry to go back to the hospital. Belle is back in full swing. emoticon

Managed 1/2 mile this morning and just did 1 1/2. emoticon emoticon 2 more!

On my 8th water, but behind on calories. Need to eat emoticon

Hi Ladies,
Just wanted to let you know, that my beloved aunt died, on Sunday.
We are pretty sad, here. Her funeral is tomorrow, afternoon, so we'll be leaving for Cochrane, in the morning. It is an hour and 15 minutes east of here, by car.
We are in the midst of a snow storm, right now. I do hope that things clear up by morning.
The pastor cancelled our ladies group, for tonight. The roads are slippery. emoticon
They were just saying on TV, that for some people, it feels like the winter that never ends. It is too early for it to end. As long as we start seeing good things, in March, I'll be glad. emoticon
I hope you are all well. I'll be in touch by Thursday. Blessings & emoticon Andrea

Welcome to the New peope.

Well, my work job, I have been there for many yrs. and now that I am older they think I have slowed down. I said I don't think I have, they watch me walk and say I have slowed down the thing of it is, they keep bringing up me retireing, Well, I can not retire, and I have told them so, anyway I am not going to go into all detail, but this is basically what is going on. I still think my superviser is trying to get me to quit to retire the administrater says she don't think so, but she says she has noticed I have slowed down. Soc. Sec. does not cover all bills......Plus I have No Help.

Have a good evening everyone....

Welcome back Charlie! I LOVE SC .. I look forward to my coaching session every day and it has made a huge difference in me sticking to the program. the healthy eating is a part of my life, but I struggle with the exercise. MOVING FORWARD, however, and it feels so goo. I've limited myself on the teams .. and only join those that I think will really hep be stay focused and that I feel I can make a contribution to. I did get out for a walk today .. and it's below 40 degrees here. Have an AWESOME DAY!

Hi everybody,

I just joined SC yesterday. Today it is sunny and about 60 degrease here in north TX so I get to take a walk outside and later I get to do my Callanetics. I love both of these exercises!

I'm looking forward to learning ways to help me stick with this and not get burned out like I have in the past. I get all excited and start posting and doing all the things that is needed to keep up with the teams I'm on and getting my tracking of food and exercise, day after day for months on end and lose a few pounds and then I get burned out and take a break from SP and I gain it all back. I have done this for 5 years now.

I have to stop this cycle and I guess I just need to learn not to get so involved with to many teams or something.

Does anyone else have this problem?

Hugs,
Charlie

I did get out .. bundled up with two payers, gloves and a ski coat. Walked 1884 steps up and down the hill with the dog. Really got my heart pumping! My 'pup' (Mr. Quincy) wanted to stop and sniff every deer and moose and snowshoe bunny foot print .. but he did keep up eventually. Feels very good! Thanks for the encouragement .. I know I can do this. Wonderful breakfast of 1 egg, 1 egg white, 1/2 C spinach, 5 mushrooms, 2 tsp wonderful grated parmesan omelet in 1/2 tsp coconut oil combined with 8 ox of v-* juice. Tasted fabulous! ONWARD, and again, thank you! emoticon

Thanks .. there are days when the sun shines and the temperatures hover around 40 .. others (like today) with a greyness that is depressing and down in the 20's. I have made a commitment to clean my greenhouse out on March 1st and begin some spring veggie 'starts'. That will help .. and the exercise of walking up and down watering, planting, and watching them grow will help. I've decided that I DO need to take a walk everyday (even in this freezing cold) .. so I'l bundle up in layers and get on with it. What exercises to you do that you like. I sail and garden in the summer .. but missing it in the cold winter months.

Hello every one. Hope all are doing well. I've been fighting off a virus bug of some kind and haven't been tracking or posting. The up side of not being able to eat, lost 2.5 lbs. emoticon . Getting close to my St Pats goal already. Hopfully I'll be better and can get caught up soon.
