I do Low Carb High Fat -- I'd prefer something a little more plant based, but I need the fat and protein and the low carb to control diabetes. I struggle finding enough fat, but it's been over 17 years since I was diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes and I'm still not on medication. The low carb is working for me.

There is no such thing as the final success in life. What is really meaningful is the courage to face the next minute, the next hour, the next day.

There are people here who use all manner and form of ways to get healthy. SparkPeople is centered on the balanced plan, but there are many here who use low carb, keto, Mediterranean, and much more. I try to remain flexible and have done several of them over the years. I figure that if it works and it's not harming you, it's a good thing. Right now I'm having success with reduced carb intermittent fasting. The one rule I have for myself is to use the SparkPeople nutrition counter regardless of eating plan so that I know for a fact I'm getting all my nutrients and that I'm not going crazy with calories by eating too little or too much. Good luck with what you have chosen and remember that no matter how you go about it, one rule applies in all cases... Never, Ever, Quit!

For the last 8 years I have been struggling with my weight fluctuating. The highest weight was about 192 pounds and I am only 5 feet tall. After being told i could go see a dietician, I realized the food plan was going to cost me too much. Finally this year, my doctor asked me if I wanted to go see a weight management doctor. I thought to myself, why did he not ask me to do this a long time ago? So, I decided to go see him. I have finally learned that I was doing my weight loss the wrong ways all these years. Now I have learned the best thing for me to do is the Low carb High Fat diet and it has worked for me. However, I still have the habit of over snacking. I am still working on this though. I hope there are people out there that do this diet or life change as they call it and it works for them. emoticon
