Why there are votes for what people can or cannot post? Really interesting. Personally I am tied to read, and I simple do not read it, everyday people post what diet they use, and what they cooked, and ate, and so so on. It is really bore. But this is what this site about. So, I simple do not read what is not interesting for me, and skip it.
So, why people can post all what they eat, and other people cannot blog every day? This is not your choice anyway. On SP there are many posts or blogs, or anything you wish to read. Just go where you wish to be. And do not try to put cloth on other people mouth. We have the same vote as you do have.
BTW, why there are so much aggression? Why this posted in first place? Does person who blog every day disturb you? I do not read what you post. So, please, do not read my blog. I blog every day. But there is nothing for you to read.
my best for you.

I stopped noticing that section a long time passing. Tired of seeing the same person every day. It was stated that this person shows up often because they are up-voted by many...since there is no way to down-vote a blog (as in not wanting to see more) should this be an indicator at all? Perhaps a change in votes? Two buttons: I want to see more and I do not want to see more. These options are not saying a blog is bad, only that the voter does not want to see more from that blogger.

Perhaps I am wrong but it seems that the blogs are featured based on members - I admit that I am not a big reader of blogs on this site - but perhaps if we all like the ones we like there will be more variety?

There was a team called the Treasure Trove — and they tri d to do just that. Highlight blogs as well as support folks who weren’t getting any..especially those who were first time posters. I’m not sure what happened. It changed to something else. I spark mailed one of the team leaders to ask, but never heard a response.

FYI, I counted and the same blogger has been identified as motivational every day since last April.

I emailed Jen about week ago and said I wouldn’t bother her anymore about this. Not sure what else can be done.

I was hoping to find a SparkTeam that's focused on reading blogs and voting for the inspirational ones that support what SparkPeople espouses. Any ideas? My searches didn't find anything obvious.

I guess I should have explained that this is not a simple fix. There are multiple places on the site, and in the emails that have code in them that will need to be changed. Our tech folks have this on their list to do, so please don't make negative comments when it's not changed immediately. That really doesn't help.

Lots of members blog about things other than weight loss, diets and exercise. Lots of members enjoy reading about the lifestyles of those who live differently than they do. Call in escapism or fantasy, if you like.

I believe the concern here was that the same person was "featured" so consistently that few others had the chance to be seen or read. There was no criticism about the topics chosen nor, I believe, are there any Spark rules about content other than not being rude, crude or otherwise controversial..

This is a screen shot from Sunday, March 4, 2018, my start page on the right side where the list of "Featured Blogs" is located.
You will notice that Leejeans blog is current and brand new while the "other" blogs are a couple days old. Is this meant to keep leejeans blogs featured and to just show other people make blogs?

The blogs in the bottom of the emails are the same ones that are typically featured on this page:

www.sparkpeople.com/member-blogs.asp

The page above always has lots of variety to it, so hopefully the emails have the same.

In today's email as well. It seems like it becomes a circular thing; by constantly being "featured" there are more commenters? There are 50 comments today on that blog(below).

If there are 16 million registered members....? this is featured everyday? I understand not everyone blogs. But variety would be nice. I'm not sure what happened to the Treasure Trove Team - seems like that was a part of their goal was to feature inspiring blogs.

On the community home page, LeanJean has her own entire boxed section -
The "Member Blogs" box just shows two blogs and they are both hers:
https://www.sparkpeople.com/myspark/community_home.asp

I tried to paste it below but it only pastes the text. But it seems like I see multiple blogs from her featured on the front page or the community home every single day. I honestly thought she was a sparkpeople employee/leader.

Can you be specific about where you're seeing that she's the only featured blogger? Just want to make sure there isn't a problem we need to fix.

We work very hard to update old articles and blogs on a regular basis, so even if the "created" date is older, that doesn't mean the content is outdated. We also publish multiple pieces of new content each week. If you see a piece that seems outdated, please let us know so we can look into it further.

Thanks,

It's funny, I just came to this board to make a comment about two things that have been mentioned below several times:
1) Why am I seeing the same "featured blog" person every single day (LeanJean)? I see from the responses below that it is all based on "likes" or upvotes from members. But I agree that maybe there should be a limit to how often this can happen. She seems like a nice person but honestly I thought she was a paid blogger because most days I see two or three featured blogs just from her on my front page. Sometimes she is the ONLY featured blogger that I see.

2) I'm seeing a lot of very old content. I clicked on a featured article today and it was from 2009. I'm on this site every day, and it seems that every day I click on a featured story that turns out to be more than 5 years old.

This is a great site, but these blog/featured article issues make it seem that there is not enough new content. I'm sure there is, but it's not making the front pages.

Hi Spark people admins: here's another thing. I open my mail and the motivational member is very motivational --- but it doesn't look like there has been a new blog for months.

Again, I AM NOT trying to take anything away from this person, I find her story very inspiring, but how are THESE stories featured and chosen? I guess I don't understand how these are chosen - or what algorithm is used. I go to these pages thinking this person is a current user (?) and there aren't blogs for months. There are 5 blogs total. I know blogs don't mean they aren't active - so how is this decided?

Again, just trying to understand. thanks in advance.

I'm voting for a cap as well. This does not look like "Featured Member Blogs" it looks like a fan club, lol!

Nothing against LEANJEAN, but it would be nice to see some other posts in that spot.

Hmm. Well, I tried to post some good ones on the community thread. I really think it would be more accurate to call them "most popular" rather than "featured." because that's what it means. People click "like" and then they are featured. Just a suggestion, Spark! It was really confusing to me when I would go to featured blogs and not really understand why. Thanks for reading.

WTG Spark. Not sure why, but the past few days, there have been new featured motivational blogs. I really enjoy getting to see new people featured, and having an opportunity to cheer them on. Thank you so much!!!

I would agree there should be a weekly cap.

There are only so many blogs of random sentences and twee pictures we need to see as "featured".

I don't find LeanJean's blogs humorous at all. there should be a cap on how many times a week you can have the top blogs, I don't care how many people post and like a blog. There are a LOT more wonderful, thought provoking, support needed blogs than just hers.

She or her roadies can always make a private support team for her if she has so many problems!

Thanks for posting about some teams. I wouldn't have thought of that myself.
None of my teams have ever done this. Hmm ... now I'm wondering if should encourage my teammates to do so. At any rate, here's my Veteran's Day blog

I think what is happening is there are certain teams that encourage their members to "like" a fellow Sparker's blogs to get them voted in. I was on one such team and it was awful.

I love when people blog everyday or at least several times a week but I don't think every blog they write can possibly be motivating to the general user

I think she has a lot of followers, this is the reason she always has a featured blog.

I thought I read in one of her featured blogs that she was kind of a featured blogger because she used to write a regular newspaper column.

Thanks for the feedback! The blogs featured in the daily email are the ones voted "up" by other members. We don't check the content ahead of time, as we like to have a variety of blogs in those emails. But I will pass along your thoughts for future consideration.

Yes, you are more than welcome to send me good ones and I can see about getting them featured :)

By the way, the username you posted the second time was the same as the one posted the first time.

Thanks!

My mistake I went back and looked again and it is:
SHARON1002..... Thank you for checking........ also I am wondering as you say the selected featured people are those who were voted up might it be possible if as members we can send you suggestions when we read a really uplifting or motivating blog to consider?....... often I read blogs that go unnoticed with only a few responders but really have a lot of worthwhile things to say
Just a thought and thank you for your time .

I happened to stumble upon this and I've noticed one particular person being featured over and over again sometimes three times per week and I wonder what's up with that.
I wonder if you might take a look at some of the blogs on the subject of gratitude posted by SHARON1002.
They are really excellent and wonderful material .
Thank you in advance for considering .

We try to get variety in there as much as possible, but most of the featured blogs are based on member "votes". So if members are "voting up" a blog consistently, that's why the same person is featured so frequently.

I've asked this before and ask it again: why do the same people/bloggers always get featured? I don't get it. There are tons of people on here that have great blogs, yet the same ones always get featured. Thanks in advance for helping me understand.
