Justano1 - although you can’t access SparkPeople through the app at this time, you can still access it through your phone/mobile device's browser. While it may not be as convenient for you because you have to zoom in, it is still accessible (I actually use that periodically for features that aren't in the app when I'm away from my computer). You purchased the Premium option for the one time only fee in 2016, so we are not able to offer a refund for something that long ago. We also do not offer that promotional price now, so that was a highly discounted price.

There are currently 2 versions of the start page and you can switch to the other version if you would like. To do that, go to your account/email preferences page and in the section for the Start Page, you can click the button to change to the other version.

It seems that the SP coach and spark recipies app does not have same problem as i can log in there, come on SP get with the program and let's log in on all of your apps

Not been on SP for quite a while now and it took a while to work out why I can't log in to SP on Android app. Very dissappointing to find as a premium user i can't use full facilities without logging in on browser which I then have to magnify to see! Guess I won't be using SP to track etc.. it was bad enough that you changed the start page before so I dropped out then but, thought I would give it a go again only to find I now can't use the app and do not use a PC daily. Can I get my money back under missold product?

Yeah spark people failed to understand GDPR so thought blocking the app makes it compliant. The same regulations apply to the website and the mobile website.
In honesty I am waiting for them to block this too. Access could have been granted under "contractual obligation" for premium users or "legitimate business process" for non premium.
Sad that a failure to understand blocked the app.

DONNARZ - If you are in the EU, you won't be able to log into the app, but you could log into the website through your mobile device's browser.

If you aren't in the EU, you can log into the app by tapping the words "Log In," then type your username and password and tap the arrow icon.

I have been using SP for years, but just downloaded the Android app and cannot sign in. I do not want to sign in with Facebook. Can you please send me the instructions to log in.

We plan to look into it when we have more time. It's not a simple set of rules that can quickly be gone over, but we hope to be able to add it back in the future for members in Europe.

Not being able to log into the app is due to being in the EU, but you should be able to log into the website (mobile or desktop site) on your phone or other mobile device. What happens when you try to log into it on your phone or mobile device? Do you get an error message? If so, what exactly does it say? Are you entering your username and password the same as you do on your computer? Have you tried clearing your browser's cache and cookies?

Hi. For a long time I've not been able to log in to the app, I guess that's because I'm in the EU. But I can't log in to the mobile site either - it just takes me back to the login page each time. Is this due to GDPR too? It's very disappointing as it's not practical for me to be able to log in using a computer each time

Thank you for the feedback, I have passed it along to the team. We take great care with data and keeping it private, but the GDPR is not as simple as that and has large fines involved if you somehow missed anything. It is more in depth than many realize and we do have just a small team and not enough money to pay any fines should we have left the app open and missed any little detail. As I mentioned earlier in this thread, we do plan on revisiting this as we have time and are able to do so and hope to get the app back up for EU members.

Dear Coach Denise,

Thank you for the information regarding the GDPR. I have to say this is very disappointing to hear, as not being able to use the app makes SparkPeople - which I love - 100% less practical for me.

I'd also like to suggest that SparkPeople provide a message of some sorts informing users in the EU of this issue when they try to log in. This would have saved me hours trying to log in, resetting my password, de- and reinstalling the app.

I really hope that your team can work to bring the app back in the EU. In all honesty, all the GDPR requests is that you treat our private data with respect. And in my opinion that is a courtesy you owe all your members, not just those in the EU.

Patty - I'm not sure about that, but I just did a search on google for adding an app icon on Android and found these instructions that should work for you:

Visit the Home screen page on which you want to stick the app icon, or launcher.
Touch the Apps icon to display the apps drawer.
Long-press the app icon you want to add to the Home screen.
Drag the app to the Home screen page, lifting your finger to place the app.

My Android phone shows that I have the app under my settings, however the icon is not showing up as an option. I can get to the app but have to pull up my settings then find the SparkPeople app to open it up. Is there a setting I did not set up to make the icon visible on my phone. I live in the US. Thank you for your help!

Isa - Are you in Europe? We had to discontinue the app for our European members because of some new very stringent rules put in place by the EU called GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation). We are sorry to have to do that; but, with a small team and the short amount of time given to research and make any changes, we decided that we just didn't have the resources to cover all our bases before the deadline. We plan to revisit this situation as time allows and may allow use of the app in the EU in the future.

Please note that you may continue using the mobile or full desktop version of our site from your mobile device.

If you are not in Europe, please let me know so I can try to further help.

Are you using the app or the mobile website in your browser? If it's the app, are you pressing the arrow button to the right of the password field after you have entered your username and password?

I am also unable to log in. I reset my password twice, but it won't let me log in on the mobile website.

I haven't used this site in ages, but clearly my account is still active. I'm on a moto g4.

I will try on my android tablet.

For security reasons, we are not able to see your password, but would you be ok if I reset your password and try to log in as you? After I try that, I can send you an email with a link to reset your password again so you can get back in. You won't be able to log into your account once I reset it until you get the link from me in the email.

I'm sure you are, but just to be sure, you are entering your username, not your email address, right? Also, have you checked to see that all the letters are the correct casing? Sometimes the first letter is capitalized when I enter something and I need to change that to lowercase. Does the upper case/lower case all seem to be correct?

I see this is quite an old thread, but I'm having the same trouble. I just got an Android phone, and one of the main reasons I wanted it was to get the SP app! However, I've tried and tried to log in through the app, and every time I get the, 'Oops, Incorrect Username and/or Password' message. I've gone back to my computer and changed the password and everything, but I still just get the same message.

Would very much appreciate advice on what to do next, as I'd love to get this up and running.

I haven't experienced that or heard of others having that happen. Have you tried turning your device completely off and back on? Or uninstalling/reinstalling the app?

I have a Nexus 5X and applied the security update yesterday. When I open the Sparkpeople App, it waits a few seconds and then launches the Play Store wanting me to install Empires and Allies. Does anyone else have this issue?

What username are you entering? Just to be sure, are you logging in by doing the following?

- First click the words "LOG IN", this should display the Username and
Password fields
- Then click on the word "Username" and type your username over this value
- Then click on the word "Password" and type your password over this value
- Then click the arrow button that is to the right of the password field.
- That should login you in and take you to the home screen


Have you also tried uninstalling/reinstalling the app to see if that clears the issue for you?

tried to log in to my phone app on my HTC and it tells me my user name and password are incorrect when I know they are not. tried with FB and it says they are not linked and when I try User password I keep getting the FB is not linked message. Any Ideas how to fix this? the website isn't working properly for me so the app was my only way to track.

I cannot login to my smartphone account with my username and password - I've uninstalled and re-installed 4x's. I've changed the password once already. I've checked that I'm putting them both in exactly the same. I've shut my phone off and turned it back on. Help. What next?

I uninstalled on both my android tablet and phone. Discontinued acct on my Macbook pro and started all over again. First I opened a new acct on my computer, reinstalled sparkpeople on my tablet and phone and tried to log in...nothing. I am so disappointed that these cannot be synced.

You have to sign into both places with the same username and password. Are you sure you were entering the correct username and password on the website? I know with my phone, it will automatically capitalize the first letter of what I'm typing. Is that a possibility?

I can log in on my laptop but not my android phone. This morning I could use the app on my phone but this evening I can't. It just won't let me log on. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the app as well as restarted my phone. Please advise. Thanks.

MARSHALLS2 - Unfortunately, there isn't a way to do that with your account that you are using through your work. In order to use the app, you would have to create a new account separate from the one you log into for the Virtual Food Pro site.

I have a signup through wellness for life. which has a link to the Virtual Food Pro website. Now I'd like to activate an Android smartphone app which I installed (the Sparkpeople diet and food tracker). It asks me for my signon. I tried my wellness for life one - that didn't work. I tried my Virtual Food Pro one - but I've never set a password for that site since I always come to it via the wellness for life site. I tried to follow the directions on a message board to go to the "start" menu (on the web) and then under Accounts, - but there's no option for setting or changing a Password there.

Can you tell me how to log in to the smartphone app as the same user as I have on the web?

I found the problem. I had to update my data plan

I'd recommend uninstalling and reinstalling the app then to see if that helps.

I actually tried both for my user name but the password is lower case
