The kids have been asked not to have PB in the morning just before school. One of the students is very allergic.

But there's almond butter.

Some great ideas here. Thanks so much.
I tried 1 baked egg muffin recipe. It got a fairly typical teen response of "It's ok"

Is your grandchild a "nibbler" or a "meal" type? Do they prefer sweet or savoury in the mornings, or a mix? How much time is there for them to consume the food (either in the vehicle, or once at school, or both)?

If they are more of a "nibbler", then a selection of sliced meats, bits of cheese, some nuts, and some fruit or veggie slices can work well (and can be quite convenient if you use up left-overs from the previous day). Adding in a small container of dip made with Greek yogurt and some spices (dehydrated onions & dill for savoury --- or a bit of maple syrup and cinnamon for sweet) often makes it more enjoyable. Nibblers usually like more time to eat, though, so this might not be ideal if they only have a few minutes in the vehicle to eat.

For more of a "meal" type, then a half-sandwich (whole-grain bread and some left-over meat, or a poached egg with cheese, or the good ol' PBJ) and a bowl with some roasted veggies with sauce (or a stir-fry) can be ideal. Just about anything can be put in to a wrap (I like either a stir-fry, or a small omelet), and add some fruits or veggies on the side, too. The "meal" types seem to prefer something warm (especially in the winter), and some kids get a kick out of eating "supper foods" for breakfast! My one niece has had some kind of stew for breakfast all winter since she first tried it - and it really was easy to heat up and put in to a thermos for her to eat on the way to school.

Also: yogurt + fruit + cereal/granola, a smoothie and toast (avocado/pb), a breakfast burrito wrap (scrambled eggs, beans, salsa, cheese, avo), overnight oats and fruit with some nuts

Baked egg cups can be a good to-go breakfast. Here's one of many recipes from SparkRecipes for that type of breakfast: recipes.sparkpeople.com/recipe-detail.asp?
