I've been using stevia for almost two years. The brand I'm currently using is Truvia.

Trying every day to be the best I can be!

In regards to Splenda and other sugar substitutes raising blood sugar. I would go with the most current information from the Mayo Clinic

www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/dia
betes/expert-answers/artificial-sweete
ners/faq-20058038

Pay attention to what she says about other components in items using the sweeteners and the warning about sugar alcohols, which can increase your blood sugar level.

I stay away from most of them because I don't like the taste. Stevia is great on fruit or fruit flavored things (like sweetening yogurt). I prefer sucralose for my coffee and cooking.

Another thing that will effect how you perceive something's taste is fat. I struggled to find a substitute for Almond Joy creamer for my coffee. Nothing worked until I tried coconut oil and some sucralose. It wasn't the taste that was bugging me, so much as the texture of the substitutes I was trying. My coffee doesn't have the Almond joy taste, but the texture is satisfying.

My son uses Swerve. It comes in granulated or powder. I have not tried it yet.

I always used Splenda. No aftertaste, and you can bake with it. I recently read that Splenda spikes your blood sugar the same way sugar does, so now I can't have it because I am extremely close to being per-diabetic. (As most of the country is now because there is sugar in so many of our processed foods.) So, I tried Stevia. It has a terrible after taste. Next I will try Monk. I hope I like it as I am running out of options and I have to have something sweet.

I think that all the sweeteners have their own aftertaste if compared to white cane sugar. You may have to play around until you find one you can tolerate. As far as agave goes, it affects me in the gut. If I ever had constipation, this would clear it up. (Thinking of the coffee shop who put it out and labeled it Honey).

About 40 years ago, I tried different things with actual stevia leaves. It had no aftertaste but it was impossible to dissolve in things as simple as hot coffee. When I used it for baking, the sweetness was gone.

I've always kept my sugar as actual sugar. I don't bake/eat cookies or consume high sugar foods/candy regularly really I pretty much only use it in my coffee and I'm good with that.

I did try stevia when it first came out (in a public fashion, no idea how long its bee around) and it was a no go- but they've since improved it I've heard. I always felt like the reported side effects from artificial sweetner was scary enough that i just cut out the rest of the sweets/junk and left my 30 calories per cup alone.

I like to use honey. I substitute it for sugar when cooking. Be careful it is a lot sweeter than sugar. I use half the amount of sugar called for.

I discovered this sweetener called Whole Earth Nature Sweet after my local Starbucks started carrying it on their condiment bar. It has Stevia and Monkfruit. I think it is pretty good and it seems to be a little sweeter than the Splenda I normally use. But it is expensive! Even on Amazon it is about $4 for a box of 40 packs.

my favorite no cal sugar sub is Monk fruit in the raw. The ingredients are dextrose and monk fruit extract. You can find it in the sweetner section. I like it because there is no overpowering chemical taste or aftertaste. It has a very subtle flavor.

I use stevia. It's the only one that I don't totally dislike.

I wad revamping a recipe for cranberry salad/sauce 2 wks ago. I researched sugar subs and ended up using Truvia. According to a couple of articles I found, stevia has a natural licorice-like aftertaste that the Truvia people have figured out how to get rid of. I used it and it was fine. I used a 1pk on my Special K protein today instead of my 2pks sweet & low. It was great, like I'd used sugar. *But in coffee it didn't taste right. Now I'm wondering if it's one of those that's good in cold, but not to cook with. I want to make banana bread and now I'm nervous. Any ideas?

I can't figure out if you're asking for a different brand of agave or a different sweetener all together.
I took a look and noticed the Skinny Girl brand has stevia in it. That may be the after taste you don't like. Look for a brand that has no stevia in it. I kind of think that putting AGAVE in large letters implies that's all it is.
If you're looking for an alternative sweetener, you've gotten lots of suggestions. I'm a diabetic and tend to use real sugar (brown or white) in my coffee because it's usually on 1/4 teaspoon. I use honey quite a bit for cooking and baking. I also look for recipes that get sweetened by the cooking method. Roasting for example, brings out sweetness in a lot of veggies.
I've tried agave and find it is addictive like corn syrup -- very sweet and leaving me wanting more. It also has laxative effects in surprisingly small quantities. A side effect that may not be desirable in a business setting.

I've tried a lot of the sweetners & have found I like Truvia. I buy it in bulk in little single servings at SAMS Club. I use 2 every morning in my coffee & it doesn't have that funny after taste but everyone has their own preference....No calories & is plant based. Hope this helps!

I think it's a personal preference.
My fave is spenda, but I didn't always like it. Now I do.

I hate diet sodas, to chemical-ly. Yuk. I also don't like the real sugar sodas, either. Go figure. The 'new' diet drinks with sugar sub are also yucky to me. My MIL however, loves them.

I suggest trying different subs and seeing what works for you.

I wish I could bring you good news...

agave is super high in fructose (over 80% fructose), which can be really hard on the digestive tract. I have some, but am a bit afraid to try it since my tummy was already bothering me when I learned this!

I was told that Stevia has a weird aftertaste,. so I never bothered with it - not that I sweeten many foods as it is. Any foods with the less natural sweeters all taste like nasty chemicals to me and I can't stand any of them. I used to drink Diet Coke until it made my upper abdomen hurt. Didn't want to stick to it long enough to find out what the problem was - just knew enough to stay away from it from then on.
