I'm always high on carbs and am very successful. As stated elsewhere, the bulk of my carbs are complex carbs. My suggestion is to use the SparkPeople guidelines and implement the trackers using honesty with yourself and 'never-quit' diligence. Adjust calorie intake and exercise levels until you're getting the results you want and ignore the din from all those telling you that you're doing it wrong. Go for it and stick with it. Welcome back!

The key is moderation, even if it's not always easy to follow. We all slip up, but that doesn't mean we give up. Keep at it.!

Welcome back to Sparkpeople so glad you have returned

I see you joined Sparkpeople back in 2016 - and that you have a sparkpage - would you consider going to your sparkpage and putting on it a little about yourself and your journey so that when we come to say hi we can read how you are doing

Also participate as often as possible on all the groups you have joined as that is where you will be encouraged and motivated

Focusing on the journey to living healthy

Congratulations, happy birthday and welcome!

There's a ton of conflicting advice out there, and tons about carbs, too. Many heart surgeons and oncologists believe that it's not carbs, but unhealthy carbs. Eating complex carbs like whole grains as well as legumes and lots of vegetables and fruits is a heart-healthy and effective diet!

Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine, The China Study, Forks Over Knives are great places to check out. Of course, what works best and *feels* best for you will be the best. Good luck - and we believe in you!

I just turn 60 and have tried every diet known to man and will stay on track until I decide I should have seen results. I know my problem is with carbs, but I’m weak and cave in every time. I want this time to be different.
people say I quit too soon, don’t eat enough or others say too much. I also have friends who say (if) intermittent fasting is the way to go.
I want to be able to eat smart, go to the gym, and lose the weight.
