Thanks, JERF. I'll be okay. I have a bit of savings. Sadly, I just learned the theater will remain closed through May. But, some activity for the 3rd job should be ramping up for the January trip.

MLAN613 - Sorry to hear you are feeling the pinch as well. Where I live they are introducing a benefit for people who are out of work but don’t qualify for unemployment. Maybe they will do something like that in your area. Will be thinking of you.

JERF, I am glad you're doing okay

Arch: yep I know someone who was permanently laid off from a full time job. Additionally, there are 300+ staff members at the theater I work at. We were all temporarily laid off through April 10 and I am sure that date will be extended.

I can't apply for UI because I do work full time but I need a bit of that theater income to get comfortably between paychecks.

I am still working. However, two of my cousins have been furloughed.

One picked up a temp job at Whole Foods. They work there until they are recalled. Not sure if my other cousin applied for a temp job with them or needed to apply for UI.

According to the news (which I really need to stop watching), 6.6 million Americans are unemployed. Those are the numbers being reported by UI. who knows how many more employees, who were working under the table, lost jobs.

Just given that number, someone must know someone else who lost their job.

Thanks MLAN613, we are doing ok. My husband is a carpenter so he’s still working. Things are a bit tight right now but we’ll get by.

I’ve been able to get out on my bike a lot and have been getting creative in my cooking so that’s keeping me busy.

Not too many people I know have been laid off.
How about you, LWLAR7? Were you laid off?

I did. I’m a supply Educational Assistant and average 2-3 shifts a week during the school year, since there’s no school there's no work.

I also work sometimes at a farm store that sells local products, produce and meat when hours at the school are slow. But haven’t worked there in a bit because I was getting lots hours at the school before Covid and now they have gone to email and phone orders for pickup only.

Personally, I didn't get layed off from my full-time job, which is good. I work for a large healthcare company based in Minnesota, so that is a perk, I guess.

However, I was temporarily laid off from my part-time job at a local dinner theater and I need about half that income to get between paychecks. Since I do work full time, I am not eligible for unemployment.

I also work a 3rd job, which is data entry for my mom's travel company. Their June trip is cancelled. Here's to hoping the January trip gets a strong enrollment but the income from that is a ways off.
