It depends. For tacos or taco salad I shred some iceberg. For regular salads I like a mix of whatever is on hand, such as spinach, kale, romaine, leaf lettuce and bib. I’m usually lucky to have a couple of those. Yes romaine because it’s crisp and nutritious.

I don't have any one favorite lettuce. I have some iceberg in my fridge now because I bought some turkey burgers. Iceberg is great on burgers as a "bun" or if I am using bread.
I shop a lot at Aldi and I by their 16 ounce containers of spring mix which is nice because it's flavorful and has a lot of good color. They also have 5 ounce containers of baby spinach, spinach/arugula mix, and another blend. I like these because they aren't expensive ($2.50 a box), last a long time, and work great as a salad base or in smoothies. Yummy!!!
i like Romaine but I have started buying mesclun which includes chervil, arugula, leafy lettuces and endive, baby spinach, Swiss chard (silver beet), mustard greens, dandelion, frisée, mizuna, mâche (lamb's lettuce), radicchio, sorrel, or other fresh leafy veggies
