This was my first year giving a container garden a real try - I did pretty well for a newbie, I think, and learned a lot about how to do better next year. A couple of cool nights seem to have caused my cherry tomatoes and my two determinate (patio) tomatoes to die back quite a bit (though they're still putting out new ones). My one heirloom tomato plant still looks nice and is producing, but has stopped trying to take over my deck.

I didn't do so well with my beans - but frankly they were not even planned. They were take-home gifts from a "princess" birthday party for one of my son's friends. Very cute and cheap idea - little cups with "magic beans"! My son loved planting them and watching the vines grow. But I didn't know aphids could cause mosaic virus, so my yield was low. Next year, I'll use some neem oil!

Since I'm in zone 7a, I've still got my fall vegetables that won't be harvested for several weeks. I've got carrots, lettuce, bush beans, cabbage, beets, spinach, and snap peas in. Not a lot of any of them - just enough to experiment a bit with what does well in our yard.

Starting Weight: 268 lbs. (November 2010)
Quasi-Maintenance: 165 lbs. (June 2011)
Goal Weight: 150 lbs. (reached December 8, 2011)

Size 22W to Size 4

Currently maintaining within 5 lbs. (+ or -) of goal. I weigh daily, but also use a tape measure and the fit of my clothes to guage how well I'm doing.

Cantaloupes are done. Tomatoes are still producing well. Haven’t checked potatoes recently. I love digging in the dirt any time.

Yes~and did our garden PRODUCE this year!!!! First,LOTS OF Summer Squash as always and tomatoes here and there but blossom rot tends to get them as the watering is not consistent{ I get lazy in August when it is SO HOT!}
Our corn did well despite the low watering~we depend VERY MUCH on the rain here . Our Butternut Squash {Winter Squash} did amazingly well ~doesn't require as much water ~ emoticon as well as the pumpkins and watermelons! We didn't do as well with the green peppers or carrots ,but the basil is nice and we'll be able to dry it at summer's official end!

In God my heart trusts. ----Proverbs 28:7

Crazy year around here near Portland OR: Still had peas producing when the sunflowers started blooming in August --?! -- and it took until Sept for my first tomato. Apples are falling, and the broccoli took a leap again. Two small pumpkins are 'trying'. Zucchini..as always..was good.

We live in a townhouse so I do container gardening on the back patio (south facing, protected... PERFECT conditions). For some &^$% reason, my herbs and hot peppers do amazingly well. But I can't seem to grow a tomato or other vegetable to save my life!

My nine year old daughter is in her school's gardening club (YAY!) and this winter we're going to experiment with hydroponic gardening (just a few herbs - basil, oregano, thyme, and maybe cilantro) in the kitchen.

We do a container garden, mostly herbs. This year we are moving from Chicago to Tucson, so have already harvested and dried, but it will be the start of growing season in Tucson so we can start all over. Be new challenges growing there, but will give it a try

I moved to a flat last November so no garden now. I used to grow a lot of veggies from seed. This year I have bought 2 tomato plants to go on my tiny balcony in May!
