I'm with Sherylds. Eating when I think I'm not really hungry, but am nowhere near what my body needs for the day, has helped me even out those peaks and valleys. I don't force everything I need for the day, but I have a minimum in my head that seems to prevent me from becoming Cookie Monster when my hunger comes back. Another thing that I try to do is to pair a junkier option with something that's good for me. Ramen is a staple when my stomach is off, but I make it with a serving of two of frozen vegetables tossed in at the end. For Ritz crackers, what about topping them with hummus and vegetables or a bit of cheese and some meat? How about spinach and artichoke dip?

That makes sense! When I was a kid, I didn’t have a lot of choices. You ate what was put in front of you. You better clean your plate! That was drilled into us. Once I got to do what I wanted, I probably went overboard (as we are all prone to do.). So now, I wanna be healthy and I am gonna have to work for it. Thanks!

Well, you've done a lot of the heavy lifting by just getting started and sticking with it. From now on just keep honing it and sticking with it and you'll get there. This fits right in with coulda, woulda, shoulda. I coulda been at my goal for years if I woulda just stuck with it the first time and I shoulda because I would have avoided a lot of pain and misery. Hindsight is 20/20... It's that looking ahead that gives us problems. Best of luck with it all!

It's great that you are in wanna mode for losing weight. emoticon

My problem with not eating on some sort of schedule is a mental/physical thing. When my hunger Does set in...my appetite goes on overdrive and I end up doing twice the damage. That results in undoing a lot of the hard work I put in previously.
I find that when I'm "not that hungry", eating a little of something healthy...even if it is a small portion...keeps me on a more even balance so that I don't go ravenous and make bad choices.

I always say that losing weight is easy. I have lost THOUSANDS of pounds over the years. Problem is keeping them off. They always come back with a vengeance.

I raised my kids to 'wanna.' If you wanna get good grades, you have to get the work done. You gotta wanna! If you don't don't wanna, you ain't gonna.

Having said that....I joined Spark in 2013....yep...over 5 years ago. I am a hypocrite. I did not follow my own rules for my children. I didn't wanna.

Well, I have logged onto this site every day now since mid-July and I have logged every item that I ate since then. ...and I don't wait until the end of the day to log it....or the next day....I log it as I eat it. This has made me keep a close eye on my caloric intake. I haven't really bothered with trying to track protein vs fat vs carbs, etc.....that makes it too damn hard. But I do log everything.....even that medium size cone from Dairy Queen.....or that Number 1 from Chick-Fil-A.

So...yes I have cheat days...but I also have days when I don't seem hungry at all. It is on these days when my wife actually makes me eat. I eat...go through the motions....log it in my tracker, but I can't figure out why I ate when I wasn't hungry.

Yes, I am constantly being told that I have to eat something to keep my body nourished and hydrated, but what about the times when I don't feel like it? Yesterday was one of those days. I did not eat breakfast except for coffee and my crystal light drink. Then for lunch, I had ramen noodles and 10 ritz crackers. ...OH and my crystal light. For dinner....just my crystal light and went to bed early.

So, here I am at 3AM awake and writing my thoughts into a Spark Blog. I am hungry, but I won't reach for snacks. I will wait for breakfast. Do you know why?

Because I wanna. emoticon
