It wasn't that fast, almost four years. I also had the problem with Glipizide after a short time. He took me off that after a year or so. I had no problem with Metformin in the nearly four years. The first BP med I took gave me a scratchy throat. I have an appointment next month and hope to lose the BP pills as well. Good luck to you!

You did great job. To lower from A1c 13.9% down to 5.1% is really fast and for me sound too danger. Did you have low blood sugar? How low your sugar dropped when you started to take Glipizide? I took this medicine many years ago. Sugar dropped so low I could not going on it. Metformin increases my heart rate, cholesterol, TG. I also do no longer take it.
I am diabetic type 2, not type 1. I take Lantus Solo Star and I do not like pump. I do not see any reason for this devise. I can inject insulin in different parts of my body, ask someone in my family do it for me, and after I am free from any hang-on on any my site.

In April of 2014, my a1c was 13.9 and blood glucose was 352. I just got that from my medical portal, so I know it's correct. That is when he put me on Metformin and Glipizide. In September of 2017 my a1c was down to 5.1 with a half dose of Metformin only and he took me off meds altogether. The follow-up test in February of this year was an a1c of 4.9 with diet and exercise being the only medicine. It sounds like your case is altogether different as I'm guessing you are type 1 while I am type 2? My sister-in-law is type 1 and is very good with her diet and exercise. She has a pump that keeps her on a pretty even keel insulin-wise. It will always require attention from all of us touched by the disease.

did your MD took A1c for a chance? What was your highest A1c?
My MD tested it and it was 9.4%. Now it is down to 5%. But it took years to put it down, and a lot of Insulin injections in high dose. High - low swings too.

Your machine is correct. See Doctor! The highest I ever had that I knew about was 335. Don't wait.
