@MANDIETERRIER1 It looks like Mandie has it soooo rough! LOL...she looks like a great dog.

I had Pinky, my sister's Great Dane, overnight again Friday to Saturday. Thankfully, she is long done with her antibiotics so she just had fun sleeping on the couch and barking at nothing.

@MANDIETERRIER1 I am glad it didn't happen. That is a cute dog and how smart of her to teach YOU what to do!

@OBIESMOM2 I am glad my dog isn't the only one! Odie's favorite "actors" are dogs, horses, moose, and caribou. Omar is super cute! I am glad you found him and that his disability isn't slowing him down.

@MLAN613 That is one thing I wish Mandie would stop sharing with me. I was trying to teach kids Sunday School thinking. I may be sick. Thankfully it didn't happen.

This one has taught me to fetch. She rolls her ball under the TV table barking and howling until I get it.

when our cable provider has a free weekend for DogTV we'll tune in and see if the dogs are interested.

Obie (golden retriever) doesn't really pay much attention

Jack (black lab mix) will watch for maybe 5-10 minutes

Omar (terrier mix) watches for up to 15 minutes and when any animal on the TV screen runs out of camera angle, Omar checks behind the TV to see where it went.
Omar only has one eye. He was injured when I found him and the vet tried to save his eye, but it was too far gone. Hasn't slowed him down a bit! He actually mastered the dog door while he was still wearing the cone! And he figured out how to scoop toys up in the cone, and that he could pin Obie or Jack down with his cone and chew on them to his heart's content.

this was one day when I was alone in the office, so Omar came to work with me

@MANDIETERRIER1 Mandie really shouldn't share that! Hope you feel better soon.

My dog Odie has gotten a kick out of a couple of news stories the last couple of days. Yesterday, it was one about a bear swimming in a California pool. Today, it was a story about a newly returned home soldier playing hide-and-seek with his dog, who was thrilled to see his friend.

My cat, who will be 19 next month, rarely hits the mark in her litter box. She gets in and then backs up until her rear is overhanging the box and then pees and poos on the floor.

Then she carefully paws the litter over phantom box poo before jumping out. Pads, paper towels and mops are always in use around here.

I used to have a roommate who had a cat named Peter. (Who knew then that my now-husband's name is Peter, lol) This cat was very and I mean VERY aggressive with food. My roommate told me when she first got Peter the Cat from the shelter, he was super skittish, so she would feed him from her hand to build his trust. Well, when he became grown, and there were 4 of us all together sharing a house at the time, no one could eat at the kitchen table, because Peter the Cat would jump up on the table and try to eat the food on our plates. Even when we prepared food on the countertops, he would jump on the counters to try and get our food. We constantly had to pick him up from the table and put him on the floor as we ate our meals. My roommate sometimes had to shut him in her room during meal times. And then he would scream his head off. It got so bad sometimes that one of my other roommates would often eat in her room so that she wouldn't have to deal with Peter the Cat.

I myself prefer dogs over cats, so it was a challenge for me to live at that house with the cat (I didn't have a dog at the time) and 3 other roommates. Lucky for me, it was only for 6 weeks.

I love these stories, too. Whomever said animals don't have feelings. Has never owned one.

The fuzzy one has also taught me to fetch. She rolls her little ball under the TV table. Then looks at me, it's not going to get itself. If I don't get it. She starts howling.

I'm not allowed to walk barefoot in the living room. If I do the male cat will run over and try to bite my feet. Wearing socks in the living room is accepted.

@ATHENA1966 I was at my friends house for a party that was lasting well into the evening. It was well past her dogs bedtime. So the dog slunk off. Turned and looked at her mom like. Do whatever you want. I'm going to bed.

This one was afraid of the fireworks. She got all the way under the couch. The terrier with anxiety was fine. I suspect the terrier is deaf though.

This one is 14. She has anxiety and dementia. She cannot stand to be without me.

I went outside and left the door cracked. She pulled the door open with her nose. She is also nearly blind so she started to walk down the sidewalk looking for me.

Thankfully being old has slowed her down. So when I realized what was happening. I was able to catch up to her and take her back inside.

My roommate's house cat won't allow me to sit at the kitchen table, gets under my feet and won't let me up or down stairs, runs to the door if I want to go outside (but he is NOT allowed outside, see my predicament?), I cannot sit on the living room couch, etc. So, I have to carry little balls of crumbled up aluminum foil around to throw and distract him so he can play with. I think he is part dog. emoticon

ObiesMom he is so sweet! My Mom had a dog that locked himself in the bathroom once!

Our love Sophie will go into my room at the same time each night and bark until I go to bed. I swear that dog can tell time. She also will only take pills with a slice of cheese.

about 90% of the time when I'm in the shower, I'll hear the door open and know who it is...

'whatcha doin', mom?'

due to our house settling, the bathroom door doesn't 'catch' so Obie knows he can bump the door open.

Hi MLAN, she is a very sweet dog, and probably the best well-mannered dog I have ever had. She's also the first female dog I have ever had, I always had male dogs before and she is definitely a lot more calm than my male dogs ever were. She doesn't chew on things or tear things up. Nothing is ever destroyed. I can leave her at home for short periods of time, and she doesn't get into anything, she just "hangs out" and waits for me. She hardly ever barks, she's super quiet most of the time. She only barks when there's a problem, and it surprises me when she does since it doesn't happen often. Very mellow temperament. She's 11 years old in people years. Everywhere I take her, people just love her, she loves cuddling and snuggling.

My dog Sky has allergies, and the vet told me to give her Benadryl tablets once or twice a day to help with her symptoms. The only way I can get her to take them is to wrap them in a thin slice of deli meat. (I have tried everything and this is the only thing that works). Now, whenever I go to the refrigerator for any reason, especially if she hears the sounds of plastic wrappers, she comes into the kitchen, thinking I'm going to give her a deli meat slice.

Fido makes me laugh but his health problems don't. It is a breed thing. Allergies, loss of hair and wax buildup in his ears make it difficult. If giving a pill, I found pill pockets or pills hidden in bread with peanut butter work well.

I cannot get mad at Obie (or any dog). They are just too sweet and innocent (unless corrupted by humans).

I give Obie (my golden retriever) a joint supplement. Before I found a chewable, I would break the tablet in half and drop it in his food. This worked just fine for YEARS.
Then Obie decided he didn't want to take the meds...he would eat his breakfast, come over and put his head in my lap, and spit out the pills.
So I bought a pill splitter and cut the tablet fourths. Obie would eat his breakfast, come over and put his head in my lap, and spit out HALF of his meds.

So, I am taking care of my sister's Great Dane overnight while they are at their son's baseball tournament. She is on antibiotics and my sister said to just give the pill with a treat after.

I tried that tactic. It failed; thankfully she wasn't snippy about it (she's a really nice dog). But I had to get the pill down. I had some delightful organic Havarti cheese purchased at my local co-op; it's one of the few things I get there. I wrapped the pill in it and down the hatch. I just had to laugh. Crazy dog.

What has your pet put you through that makes you laugh?
