I have struggled with depression, and in fact, it is very doubtful that I would still be here if it weren't for my very caring GP, and the meds and therapy.
Having a good support system is vital, but unfortunately a lot of people who suffer are told to 'suck it up', 'get over it', 'it's all in your head' etc. etc. They are not only very hurtful comments, they can add to the depression, too.
If you aren't already a member, I suggest that you join the Dealing with Depression Team. There are well in excess of 1,000,000 members, and it is a very active and supportive team. You can access it easily through the link at the bottom of my post.
I struggle with depression. Some days I feel that I have a good support system. Other days, my kids and hubby seem like they could care less. If you would like, friend me here. We can support one another! And anyone else who may respond!
