I no longer get winded walking up to my 2nd floor office at work. My clothes fit better. I have more mental clarity & my anxiety isn't nearly as bad. I have more self-confidence. My blood pressure and blood sugar have improved.

Before starting my healthy life, my glucose readings were out of control. I knew this without testing because I was so emotionally out of control. Getting this program with the food changes I have my reading under control and my emotions are also. I feel so much better. I am a much, much happier person. Thank you

On my way to my new normal.

When I lost 30 pounds my clothes fit better and I was able to wear a smaller size. I feel better about myself when I leave the junk food alone and eat healthy nutrious food.

It's a Brand New kinda me. It's a Brand New kind of free.

Feel better about myself and look better in my clothes.

The key to me eating healthy is eating mindfully. This means reading labels, making balanced choices, and most importantly, listening to my body's hunger cues.

Started at a 22 (snug), currently a size 10/12.
I can walk without getting winded, even on stairs and hills. No matter how much I worked out, daily stuff would make me more tired than my peers.
I sleep better at night. I don't have random aches and pains, except where I've actually broken bones and I used to have them everywhere.
I can eat in a restaurant or pickup takeout without worrying about the looks and rude, whispered comments.
I pamper myself regularly with food carefully prepared instead of mindlessly consuming carb heavy, high volume comfort food.
I love to shop... never though I'd say that again.

And, even though I've got saggy skin on my arms and legs, I'm wearing shorts for the first time since I was a teenager.

Fitting in booths and desks and in bathroom stalls and shower stalls... bathing and working physically, etc... ALL SO MUCH EASIER. I don't even think about them now, and hadn't realized how much I'd been struggling with them until I no longer was.

My health numbers are amazing. Losing weight got me off of BP, cholesterol and stopped me from having to take medicine for diabetes. Lower scale numbers are good, lower health numbers are awesome!

Being positive is a choice so remember, “Every day is not good, but there is something good in every day." Each morning seek the positive and you will have a good day. If you believe it you CAN achieve it. Always choose to believe it.

This question really made me do some thinking - and the conclusion that I came to is that "losing weight" was not the catalyst, it was the SIDE-EFFECT of choosing to change my lifestyle. I would be thrilled with the changes that I've made and the things that I enjoy more in my life now even if the number on the scale had never moved.

My choices to start eating differently, to find different and more nutrient-rich foods that I love, to learn to cook, to indulge more in my favourite active pass-times, to look for more active hobbies to enjoy --- well, all of those things started while I was still morbidly obese, and are still continuing now that I'm well within the "healthy BMI" range.

For me, weight-loss was never even in the top 3 of priorities, so really came in as just an "added bonus" (and when it forced me to shop - which I LOATHE - it was not considered a "bonus" at all). Each of the changes in my life were ones to make my overall lifestyle happier and healthier (in my opinion - ymmv), and to let me expand my horizons beyond my comfort zone and try new things.

Quite honestly, the only "change" that I can totally attribute to losing the weight is that I can now use the "normal" public washroom stalls with room to spare.

Sir Terry Pratchett:

"Science is not about building a body of known 'facts'. It is a method for asking awkward questions and subjecting them to a reality-check, thus avoiding the human tendency to believe whatever makes us feel good."

Basically everything has changed in my life. As I was losing weight I gradually changed the way I eat and now after 6 1/2 years my food preferences are totally different and I focus on plants and real foods.
Exercise is now a regular and non negotiable part of my life and even at age 67 I am more fit than I was 20 years ago. Moving is easy; I can walkup the 4 flights of stairs at Grand Central Station and not breathe heavily or stop to catch my breath. I'm stronger and more flexible.

Clothes fit and when I pull out the clothes from the prior season they fit. Love the way they fit and how I look.

When I began my healthy lifestyle I was 100 lbs overweight, and had no energy as well as many awful symptoms of poor health. I had diabetes and pancreatitis too.

I finished loosing the weight in Dec. 2009. I have a wealth of energy. My awful symptoms are long gone. I enjoy hiking and eating healthy. I can keep up with my grandkids easily. Best of all is I wake up each morning, knowing I am alive. I am quite sure, had I kept up my unhealthy lifestyle, I would have been dead long ago.

Oh, one fun thing that is a result of healthy living is...I can wear all the new fashions and know I look good in them.

It's not always easy, but it is always worth it!

All physical activities are easy.
I can walk for hours, I can walk up 400 stairs without getting tired or huffing and puffing.
I can bike from the river up to our house on the hill without stopping or pushing the bike.
I can carry heavy objects for hundreds of steps.
The yoga poses I used to struggle with are easy now.

Maintenance Lessons Learned:
-go on with the healthy lifestyle learned in weight loss phase
-just add healthy foods gradually to stop losing
-work out every day - 30-60 minutes is enough to maintain weight and good mood
-do not try to balance overeating by extreme workouts, it is not going to work
-avoid overeating, instead of satisfaction you get stronger cravings

My mind has not caught up with my body.
When shopping for clothes I still go to my old size 16 then work back to 10.

Waiting for mind and body to be connected!

How has losing weight changed your life? What is different? What has changed in the way you live your life? For example, after month 1 I noticed I could walk without getting tired. Then this morning as I finish month 2, I noticed there isn't so much pulling and tugging when I put on my clothes. How about you? What has changed?
