It is hard to say. I am not sure. No one would tell me. I believe I was shoving my larger body into smaller sizes. To justify my weight. Well I can wear a size 10, see.

I think my family was just too nice. To tell me the truth.

I read the website size chart. I go by those measurements. Not by sizes. A size is only a number in a tag. It is meaningless, basically.

There are no regulated sizes. So they are all over the place. At Target I wear a 12 at Old Navy I wear a 6.

Well, uhmm... in my case, I lost about 50 pounds in total. And I went down 4 or 5 sizes. So I guess you could say I dropped a size for every 10 pounds I lost... But well, I also lost a LOT of muscle mass so... yea, that calculation isn't very accurate.

After I had lost about 15kg.

I KNEW I really needed more clothes prior to that, but my wake up call was when I was with my Registered Dietitian. I had stood up for her to measure my waist .... my slim fitting tailored trou fell to the ground, totally unaided emoticon emoticon emoticon

I hadn't lost anything off my waist, but my hip/bum/tummy was a bit smaller LOL!

That's going to be completely dependent on how your clothes fit BEFORE you attempted losing weight---as well as where YOUR body loses weight. So if you are looking for a hard fast rule something like "only eight pounds and you will be 2 sizes smaller"....you're "tilting at windmills".

Personally: those jeans that were rather tight 8lbs ago...they fit better now. The same dresses and skirts fit nicely... so I haven't seen a need to buy new smaller clothes. And I'm still wearing the outdoor hiking clothes and coats I've used for the past 12 years---some 20 lbs ago. They fit great! I did get rid of some dressy work clothes that were on the larger side to start with though. I'd always liked looser clothes, but with over 20 lbs gone, yeah, they were a bit too loose.
All the best,
patti

How many pounds or inches did you lose before you needed smaller clothes?
