add me to the 'never tried it' list.

no interest AT ALL

not even the import - there are too many really tasty things that I already know about. No need to add any temptations to that list!

I heard this story on my local news. It boggles the mind that people get crazy over something like this. And yes, I feel the same way about such things hear in the USA too,

I may have to try the Trader Joe's version. I love their stuff; I just wish I had one closer.

Mandie,

Check your area for a good quality Italian market. Many Italian specialty stores will carry Italian made Nutella. Figure $10 for a jar. I have a couple of "go to" gourmet shops that sell it during the holidays. that's about the only time I'll splurge on it.

Trader Joe's makes a version of Nutella (without the preservatives). It's not Nutella, but it's a reasonably tasty facsimile. LOL.

I'm going to go and see if I can find imported Nutella.

You're right the American stuff tastes fake. Weird and fake

Mandie,

The Nutella they sell in Europe is NOT the crap they sell here. OMG, Nutella is absolutely wonderful. When I went to Italy years and years ago, I tried Nutella and it was amazing.

The stuff they sell here is not the same. I wont buy the Nutella here because it is too artificial tasting. If I buy Nutella, I pay extra for a jar of the imported stuff.

It's the like people who buy Mexican Coke instead of US Coke. It's because the recipe for Mexican Coke is different. Too many products still use HFCS. that changes the flavor of products.

I don't get it... that stuff is nasty (I do not like hazelnuts).

I saw that on the news. That is crazy. It's not even that good.

I'd rather have the five Oreos @SHERYLDS was talking about in her article. Even though five Oreos is a lot. Too much, really.

Oh the days when I'd eat a sleeve of Oreos. Probably twenty cookies and not think a bit about it. Then have the nerve to wonder why I was gaining so much weight

there is a website called WEIGHTY MATTERS by Yoni Freedhoff, a Family doc, Assistant Prof. at the University of Ottawa, Author of The Diet Fix, and founder of Ottawa's non-surgical Bariatric Medical Institute - a multi-disciplinary, ethical, evidence-based nutrition and weight management centre. He put together an excellent blog about Nutella. So he did a little video to show you what the equivalent nutritional value of this little breakfast spread was..and it is enlightening. 1 serving of nutella (2 tbsp) has as much sugar as 5 oreo cookies.

Have you read the news lately ? Not only is the Seine flooding in Paris, but there have been NUTELLA riots !!

I'm not kidding. It seems for a promotion, Nutella discounted their jars by 70%. The price dropped to the US equivalent of $1.76 a jar. Some of the Parisians went a little nuts. You know the Black Friday riots we get here ? Okay, Nutella caused something similar in France ! They are fighting for jars of discounted Nutella.
