Check your area for a good quality Italian market. Many Italian specialty stores will carry Italian made Nutella. Figure $10 for a jar. I have a couple of "go to" gourmet shops that sell it during the holidays. that's about the only time I'll splurge on it.
Trader Joe's makes a version of Nutella (without the preservatives). It's not Nutella, but it's a reasonably tasty facsimile. LOL.
I don't get it... that stuff is nasty (I do not like hazelnuts).

there is a website called WEIGHTY MATTERS by Yoni Freedhoff, a Family doc, Assistant Prof. at the University of Ottawa, Author of The Diet Fix, and founder of Ottawa's non-surgical Bariatric Medical Institute - a multi-disciplinary, ethical, evidence-based nutrition and weight management centre. He put together an excellent blog about Nutella. So he did a little video to show you what the equivalent nutritional value of this little breakfast spread was..and it is enlightening. 1 serving of nutella (2 tbsp) has as much sugar as 5 oreo cookies.
Have you read the news lately ? Not only is the Seine flooding in Paris, but there have been NUTELLA riots !!
I'm not kidding. It seems for a promotion, Nutella discounted their jars by 70%. The price dropped to the US equivalent of $1.76 a jar. Some of the Parisians went a little nuts. You know the Black Friday riots we get here ? Okay, Nutella caused something similar in France ! They are fighting for jars of discounted Nutella.
