Thanks for the suggestions.. I really appreciate it. However, phone won't work for me because I'm stone deaf! LOL ( No it doesn't bother me)

I really don't think I need it at this point. The big shocker was discovering that while I thought I was eating 1200 calories a day, I really had been consuming only about 800.. and burning almost half of that exercising!

As for individual nutrients, I' m really tracking those as doc has me on large doses of a lot of the individual nutrients ( Ca, K+, Magnesium, C, D, E etc) to conteract the effect of my meds.

I also see one or the other of my specialists just about every month so they're watching it.

But I really do appreciate your suggestions, and from others as well.

I know I can do this! just going to take time. After all, I didn't gain it all overnight and certainly not going to lose it over night.

I haven't explored this fully, but I know of SOME health insurance companies offer phone consultations, and I wonder if THAT could work for you, MIZMOOSE?

Oh wow, Mizmoose...You are dealing with a lot!!! Glad you understand the difference between the RD and nutritionist. And Montana? That's a beautiful state and explains your screen name. :) I know SparkPeople's Registered Dietitian Becky is around. She may be able to provide some basic ideas to help you get at least started.

Thanks. I'm a nurse but I'm aware of all that. I live middle of nowhere Montana.. we dont' have a registered dietician anywhere close! The med issues are steroids.. and I'm on meds to keep the edema down.. as much as possible. I'm Stage 4 lung cancer so , you know, not a lot other than trying to eat enough nutrition.. that's my problem.. I've not been eating enough.. in fact about half of what I should be. I'll get there.. And I thank you for your concern and your helpful suggestions.

Good Morning, Mizmoose...I love that you continue to share. I wonder if maybe meeting with a Registered Dietitian would be beneficial for you since some of your issues stem from medication side effects? Your doctor should be able to refer you. Side note: doctors don't always know much in detail about nutrition. Basics, yes but a Registered Dietitian is basically a food "doctor". He/she should be able to work with you to think of ways to help you get your nutrition needs were they should be.

If you decide to look into this possibility, make sure it's a Registered Dietitian and not a "nutritionist". A Registered Dietitian is someone who has studied the field like a physical therapist, occupational therapist, etc and has a licensure requirement. Anyone can call himself/herself a "nutritionist".

Now that I figured out what I need nutritionally, today is a very off day and I just can't eat or drink enough to cover it. Hopefully tomorrow will be better. That's normal for me though.. good days and not so good.. but at least I have more good!
