47 for me today.

I agree... a huge snowfall isn't so bad if you don't have to go out in it. It's awful when I have to go to work after a winter storm; I have a very unforgiving employer.

Thursday is the Thanksgiving holiday here in the USA. I am actually looking forward to a long weekend and some time with my family.

I got 56 today thanks to a 50.

I would love to see really heavy snow coming down, but just so long as I didn't have to go out in it.

75 for me.

I am glad you enjoyed the Super Seed biscuit. Winning them probably made it taste even better!

Well, we got maybe half an inch ( about 1.25 cm) of the white stuff. Of course, some of the local meteorologists went all weather crazy and it amounted to more or less nothing. However, the American Northeast (Pennsylvania, New York, Maryland, Massachusetts, etc) got nailed. A lot of accidents and such,

How did you get on with the snow?

I tried another of those bikkies I won, today. A plain Super Seed one that I put cottage cheese on. They are yummm and you definitely taste the oats.

That blasted bird!!!!!! He really has nerve. I hope you bought stock in the methylated spirits company? You seem to be keeping them in business. :-)

Wow...that man must have some severe seizures if they removed half of his brain. It's crazy that both men you and your daughter care(d) for have such similar situations.

I am glad to hear you are trying to savor those biscuits.

We are gearing up for some snow possibly this evening into tomorrow morning. Thankfully, most of the evening rush hour will be completed. I just saw the front on the weather and it looks like my area of he Twin Cities (SW) will get more then the rest of it.

8 today.

My 'old mate' Mr Blackbird came in again twice, today. The first time I thought I heard a noise in the kitchen and turned in my chair just in time to see him hop past my door in the computer room and straight into the bathroom. I slowly got up. He turned around and saw me, got onto the bath mat over the side of the bath, then jumped down onto the floor and hopped and but instead of taking a right turn to go back the way he came, he took a left turn and continued hopping down the passage .... to the bedrooms. I thought that rather than chase him out I would give him time to turn and around, and in the meantime have a wee look in the bathroom. TWO parcels ... one on the lino and the other on the bathmat. I got my methylated spirits to clean it up. Then snuck down to see what bedroom he had gone into. I heard him in the spare room so I shut my door, and the other bedroom door, and went into the other one. He got into a bit of a panic mode and flew around it a few times, trying to head out the windows that weren't open at the time. I managed to open one but not before noticing quite a few parcels had slithered down the net curtain :-(. I pinned that back and he flew out. Next it was time to remove the curtain and wash that and the bath mat. The next time he came in I heard a tap dance on the kitchen floor again. I went out and he hopped into the dining room then flew out the door. Once again, he left a couple parcels behind, on the carpet. My carpet must be the most frequently methylated spirited carpet EVER.

I was telling my sister about it and said I knew it seemed silly but I kinda missed him for a few days when he didn't appear at my door. She said 'now you know how I feel' because she often has finches at hers, but they BANG on her window if she hasn't opened it, AND she BUYS BIRD SEED FOR THEM, so she is encouraging them.

You know the funny thing about the person my daughter helps take care of? He is sooo similar to one I used to look after, in that both have life-threatening epileptic seizures. Mine was supposed to have a Hemispherectomy (surgical removal of one half of the brain) but he couldn't in the end because the good side became too calcified. Her guy HAS had that surgery!!! When I was taking care of mine, about 20 years ago, it was a very rare procedure and at the beginning stages. He would have had to go to either USA or England to have it done.

I was eyeing up those biscuits again today, but decided I can NOT have them every day. Yep, the ginger ones ARE my favourite, and one of my favourite of any biscuit ever made. They have a very gingery taste, and there are little bits of ginger chopped up into them, too.

This a.m. about 10a.m. it was just over 28C (83F) in the lounge/dining rooms. The curtains were closed to the windows the sun would have been coming in in the lounge, but open in the dining room, but it is a smallish highlight window. Late in the day when the sun was coming in the bedrooms on the West side, the lounge had gotten down to a respectable 23.4C

That blasted bird!!! It's funny but the packages he leaves are not. He sure is bold. I love hearing about it but am thankful I don't have to clean up the mess.

Well, your daughter's client is fortunate to have people who care so much working with him.

Sounds like you have nice breezes in spite of the early warmth. Our winter did maybe come too early. The weather in Minnesota is typically manic. We manage.

That prize hamper sounds amazing! It sounds like you got a package of the ginger ones? Weren't those your favorites? I bet your mum will enjoy it.

27 today.

I was on the computer this a.m. and heard a tap dance going on on the kitchen floor. I snuck and and sure enough, there was the blackbird. He saw me and casually hopped into the dining room and into the lounge then flew out the door, leaving a little parcel on the way.

I went to see my Mum today and get groceries. My daughter texted me to see if I could pick my g/son up from school when it finished because she had had to go to South Auckland for work, taking her very dependent client and his van to a disability appointment. There had to be the driver of the van (the man's mother) and 2 caregivers - he needs 2 with him at all times re seizures etc. He had a big seizure while they were there and had to suction him out etc. Then on the way home he had pee'd and my daughter didn't realize until she went to get out the van and discovered her tweeds were wet LOL!

It was a lovely warm day (lovely re the breeze.) When I got home at 5p.m. I opened the windows further and had the ranch slider open, with a nice cool breeze blowing through the house. Even after the house cooled down it was still 26.9C (80.4F) It isn't even summer yet.

You guys are getting early winter and we are getting early summer LOL!

I got the hamper I won, this a.m. There were 8 packets of biscuits in it and each one was different. I also got a Linen Tote Bag with their name on it too. I promptly had one serving of the Chocolate/Oat ones with my breakfast because I need fat with my b/fast and dinner re a supplement I have to take. Next week I am going to take a serve (they are individually wrapped) Stem Ginger ones for my Mum and I to share. She likes ginger.

I am glad that silly bird stayed where he belongs.

25 C/77 F sounds nice!!!! I don't like it much hotter than that. I don't mind our frigid temps too much either but the cold we're experiencing is about 3 or 4 weeks early. It makes it tough.

I am so glad you slept well!!!!!!

10 today.

The bird came to the door this afternoon, but didn't come in.

I felt frozen reading your temperatures. At the time it was 25C (77F) in my lounge with a cool breeze blowing in on the thermometer.

I had a LOVELY sleep last night - over 10 hours, so it was good catching up on what I missed out on the previous night.

95 today thanks to a 50 and 2x 20's.

That was a cool money-saving prize to win.

I never got to sleep until 6 this a.m. emoticon I was getting quite tee'd off seeing it get light and the birds outside chirping. I woke just after 11:30 so didn't get much sleep.

I was happily sitting in my computer room today. All of a sudden I got a strange feeling come over me. I got up and sneaked out into the lounge. That BLOODY Blackbird was JUST outside the ranch slider, which was open. I got down and had a close look at my carpet, and yep .... 2 parcels left .... the little *a*wipe had been in. I hadn't heard it, just had a gut feeling.

112 thanks to 2 x 50 AND I got a 25 on the bonus wheel. Not too shabby for a Monday.

I hope the teachers get the extra help they need. Teaching is hard work.

Congrats on the prize! The oatcakes look tasty and I hope you get your ginger ones.

I actually won a prize yesterday too! It was a pet basket that includes a coupon for a free bag of the good dog food I feed my dog. I don't remember what else is in it but the free coupon is worth at least $15 depending on what bag I get him.

36 today.

Today was the second day of strike. The last one was a couple weeks ago. Their pay had been held quite low for what they do for a long time, and the hours have increased re less staff to help out, etc. so they are going for higher pay plus extra teachers and special needs teachers/aids. The new Government has made them quite a generous financial offer but they are wanting more re extra staffing.

I won a prize on Facebook today. It is for a hamper of these

Yes, they have races in all kinds of weather, even snow. It takes a lot to cancel races. The most common reason would be severe thunderstorms with lightening strikes within whatever specified distance of the race. I have been running for 9 years and I have only had a race I was directly involved cancelled once.

There was a rare spring blizzard in April this year and a race which offered a 5k and 15k still went on. Of course, the 15k participants were moved into the 5k. A lot of people didn't go because the driving was bad but winter weather is typical for us.

It takes a lot to shut us down. Usually, with winter storms, we're just slowed down for a few hours. That April blizzard took maybe a day or so to get cleared. Thankfully, it was on a weekend so there was less traffic.

The teachers are striking? That is no good,How long has that been going on?

60 today, thanks to a 50.

Do they still have those 5k runs when it is snowing? I think I would likely be toooo scared to drive in the snow. I have been a passenger in the snow once.

I've got my g/son again tomorrow a.m. The teachers are on strike again.

18 for me so 10 more than yesterday.

I don't mind the snow, so I get your sentiments. If I could send it your way during the times I have to commute, I would. You could get your cooling snow and I could worry less about the other drivers. On Thursday evening, there were at leat 100 accidents and spinouts. I am not sure about Friday morning. I allowed an extra 45 minutes for my 13 mile (about 21 km) commute. I made it though.

Sounds like you slept well even with a bit of a chill? How warm does it get for you in the spring and summer months? I am sure we have had this chat before but I can't remember.

I signed up for a last minute 5k this morning. It's a local race that supports a school organization in the town I used to live in. It's only about a 15 minute drive to get there and I get to see some friends.

36 today.

Well, I survived the night with the summer sheets on AND the removal of my polar-fleece blanket. It was a tiny bit nippy about 7a.m. but I curled up a bit more in a ball. Couldn't have been too bad because I went back to sleep.

It was a nice day today. Sunny most of it, but not with as much warmth as I would have expected with the sun, but that might have been because there was bit of an ocean breeze coming my way.

I would LOVE if we could have just a light dusting of snow, a couple times a year. Especially in the hottest part of summer LOL!

So,you put your summer sheets on? Can I blame you for dusting of snow we got, colder than usual temps, and the crummy commute staring at me in a bit???? (LOL...I am kidding). In all seriousness, I hope it doesn't cool off for you.

Yep - somehow or other the gremlins ATE my post!!

But wait .................... that's not all!

The BLOODY GREMLINS ate another post on a Team I belong to, and I found that when I used my SparkPage quick link to previous posts, to add something. The LINK was there but the post wasn't, yet it was there when I first posted it. I tried that link a few times and ZILCH .... NADA!! .............. SOOOO, I posted again, only THIS TIME the previous post somehow or other had appeared so I had to delete the second post, but said why! emoticon emoticon

I had my grandson today. I guess he was quite happy because he had been internet deprived for 4 full days (today the 5th) They couldn't get the internet connection because they didn't have a splitter to plug their modem into. His Mum got it today, so hopefully it was up and running tonight.

I never got to sleep until sometime around 3a.m. again. Given that I had to be up at 8:30 it didn't give me much sleep :-( Not surprisingly, I am really tired, (and have a headache) at just on 10:30p.m,. so will be going to bed in a few minutes.

Nite

I'm having my g/son tomorrow. The school is having a 'walk-a-thon' and he doesn't do those so he is coming to me.

29 for me.

I am glad you slept better. I hope your body recovers quickly from helping your family move.

I did get a bit chilly last night in the coat check but I slipped on my own coat for a bit...lol. There weren't any fancy furs to try on! (I am not into fur coats but I have hung a few.) I also sat by the fireplace for a bit. It's funny because the coat check area is next to the gift kiosk. The gift kiosk is warm, probably because it's right across from fireplace.

Tipping is definitely an American custom. The coat check is the only place where we hostesses can get tips. The servers get them in the dining rooms but we don't. My boss is good about rotating who is in the coat check to help spread the tip love. I did okay for the amount of coats I had.

That was nice of you to tip the guy in Seattle well. I usually try to tip well too. Thankfully, wait staff in Minnesota earns decent base wages. It isn't the case in every state though.

43 today.

I slept o.k. ... sort-of, once I GOT to sleep (after 2a.m.)

I stayed in bed until just on noon because I was quite tired still. My legs have been stiff all day, mainly my thighs, and likely as a result of up/down/up/down the steps yesterday. My hip was also a bit achy.

I guess working in the coat check, if it gets cold you can always slip someone's coat over you (just hope that they don't return while you are wearing it LOL!)

I guess given that tips are customary in your country, if there are quite a few who have checked their coats in, you could make quite a bit on the side. Tipping isn't normal practice here.

When we were in Seattle, we (4 of us) got our dinners from the same Delivery Restaurant each night. When the guy returned the second night he had a huge grin on his face as he did the 3rd night. I suspect it was because I actually tipped him quite a bit more than the usual percentage LOL!

20 for me!

I hope you slept well. Sounds like you had a busy 5 hours your daughter's family move. Moving is hard work and not fun and having people help is so nice. Yes, I speak from experience. :-) I hope their new place is nice! Getting organized in a new place is fun, I think.

I hope the people involved in the accident are okay! Is it a common road where accidents happen? We have a stretch of road here in the Twin Cities where accidents are common because the road lacks a good median.

Tonight I work a long shift at the dinner theater. I will be in the coat check. It isn't too cold here yet so I probably won't be too busy. It's a fun change and I get tips on top of my hourly wage and I can read during the down time.

27 today. I forgot all about Team Points yesterday emoticon

Thank God today is over!!!

I helped my daughter and son-in-law shift house today. I packed what was left to pack of the kitchen stuff, and took a lot of the lighter stuff downstairs for them to put in the truck, then when we got to their new house, I unpacked the kitchen stuff that they had there. Some was still back at the other house, but I came home before they went back out. It was about 5 hours I was away, but about 4 of that was actually doing something. I was really tired before I started tho' because I never got to sleep before about 4a.m. and 3 nights ago it was 5a.m. Hopefully I have a good sleep tonight.

On the way back from their old house we came across a pretty bad car accident. There were heaps of Cop cars there and ambulance and 2 tow trucks, and when we got into town, there were more cop cars on their way out. The vehicles were pretty munted, and one reminded me of what mine looked like after my crash. Funny thing was, it was on the intersection of the same road that my cash was, except mine was at the northern end of the road and this was the southern.

I am glad you got to visit your Mum!!! And that's funny about the groceries. Hopefully, TJ will love that sofa.

I went over to my youngest sister's for last night's Halloween festivities. She made a delicious white chili and some mulled wine. She let me bring my dog with, which was nice because I basically got home from work, fed him and the cat, got everything ready for today and went there.

25 today.

I nearly called off going to see my Mum today because the wind was very strong, and there were a lot of squally showers. It was quite nippy for this time of year, too. I even put the little fan heater on this a.m. to heat my bedroom for when I got dressed LOL! Anyway, I'm glad I went. Mum was really pleased to see me and said she really looked forward to my visits (they are pretty much the only ones she gets apart from about 3-4 visits from others in a year. I got my groceries on the way back home. I knew that my spend this week wouldn't be as much as normal, but was still very surprised to see that it was literally HALF what I normally spend LOL! I put a little of the difference to good use. I noticed that one of the sites I get daily emails from and that have tons of things really dirt cheap, had a little animal sofa (they call it sofa but it is more like a little seat) at less than 1/2 price of exactly the same thing that another 'cheap' site has, so I ordered it for TJ for Xmas. It is a little monkey LOL! It should do him till he is about 5-6yrs old.

Maybe Blackbird finally figured out he isn't welcome? Time shall tell...lol.

Too bad you didn't get more trick or treaters. But your grandson is lucky! I may go over to my sister's for a bit. A lot depends on if I get off my job timely.

46 today.

Blackbird came up to the ranch slider and looked in at the cat and at me. The cat was sitting on a low cabinet beside the ranch slider and looked at the blackbird. Blackbird turned around and casually hopped off. The door was wide open.

I couldn't believe this a/noon. Last year I got 44 trick/treaters and the year before about 20. This year got ZILCH .... Not a ONE. There were heaps around over a 3 hour period because I saw them and heard them, and you could hear them a mile off. Probably more than last year. They seemed to be selective and only went to some houses. Never mind - they missed out on a good score from me, so my grandson will get them over time LOL! .

Well, the bit of the show I saw was good. I think they played the album that lines up with The Wizard of Oz because they played the movie in the background.

Lucky YOU with those points.

Lucky you, too to get to see them. The Pink Floyd Tribute would have been a good one. I got to see The Buddy Holly Tribute in Auckland when another person and I were the First Responders for that event. Funny thing was, after traveling 50 miles to the event in a big theatre, one of the first people we saw was MY NEIGHBOUR from right across the road LOL!

86 today, thanks to a 50, 20, and 10. That was rather fun.

I am glad you slept better...At least you had something to help you versus Night 2 of poor sleep.

I worked the theater last night. I wasn't in the main dinner theater where the plays are. I was hostess in the Inglenook Dining Room, which is where the people eat who purchase dinner to see our concert series shows. The Theater offers these shows typically on Fridays and Saturdays and they are extremely popular. Usually, they sell out or close to it. Most of the shows are tributes to singers and groups. Last night it was a Pink Floyd tribute. I got o see the first 30 minutes; it was interesting for sure.

The Blackbird didn't come into the house today, but I DID find a little parcel I hadn't found previously :-( My carpet would have had the MOST Methylated Spirits put into it of any carpet in the history of carpets. I saw very little of it today, so guess the rain we had last night might have provided it with a reasonable food supply. I hope it rains EVERY day LOL!

75 today. Another 50 and 20 :-)

Bloody Blackbird came in and left another package behind. Then a couple hours later he stood at the Ranch Slider looking at me ... the door was open. I noticed him picking up a few cat bikkies - not that there are ever many out there at a time because Spotty only eats a little bit occasionally, and I don't give her more than a little at a time. Maybe that is why the feathery intruder has been getting overly familiar LOL! Probably thinks I am putting food out for HIM emoticon

That bloody blackbird put in another appearance. I heard 'tap tap tap' and snuck out to the lounge. I must have startled it and it took off toward the window but that was closed so he had to do a u-turn and flew out the window, but not before leaving another package behind. That story about the intruder...how positively frightening. He was a member of a gang? Yikes. I am so glad everyone is okay and that TJ slept through it; he doesn't need that stress in his young life.

I hadn't heard about the the earthquakes of the northwest Pacific coast. I am sure that is because it didn't even hit land. Hopefully, Vancouver and/or Seattle won't have tsunami warnings.

My 10k went alright. I have another one on Saturday and then just a couple more this year: 1 in November and December. I am actually getting to the point where I am starting to plan out next years events. I do a lot of the same races.

8 today.

How did you get on in the 10K?

I wasn't tired today like I have been.

That blackbird was making a few appearances today, but at least it stayed outside. It came up to the Ranch Slider a couple times early evening and looked at me LOL!

My stove got fixed this a/noon. I still have about a month's worth of meals in the freezer LOL!

Last night my daughter messaged me that there had been 3 fairly big earthquakes near Vancouver BC, where my son lives. She was worried sick, even tho' the news bulletins said that those on the mainland probably wouldn't even have felt it (they were around 6.5 and 6.8 on the Richter Scale). This a.m. my g/son messaged my daughter and I to say that last night about 10:30p.m. they had an intruder. My g/son was in the shower and his partner in bed. She yelled at the guy to "Get the F*** out" and then took off into my g/son. He hastily got dressed and shot out and around the outside of the house to see if he could find him but couldn't, so came back inside. He then decided to check right through the house. He found the guy standing behind the laundry door. There was a bit of a 'to do' and the guy took off. My G/son called the Police. They cordoned off some roads and picked the guy up not far from their place. He is a 22yr old and was high on P. He was from East Auckland and thought he was in West Auckland at a friend's place. Only about 50 miles out LOL! He kept saying 'ask ants' (probably the friend's name as in "Anthony") The Police did a check and he had absolutely no known acquaintances in my G/Son's town. Turned out he is a member of the Killer Beez, one of the most notorious Street Gangs in NZ. The Police had arrest warrants out for him re various things, so today he appeared in court. My g/son went out and bought a heap of security locks for the doors and windows. He said the funny thing was that TJ (his 1yr old baby) slept through all the yelling and goings on.

45 today.

I am glad you had a quiet day after a busier day on Friday.

My cat is a black short hair. He was a stray that the animal control found and he wound up in the Humane Society. We don't have much of a stray cat problem here in Minnesota. If i wanted a free one, I am sure I could have found someone who has a plethora of barn cats but wanted to go the route I did.

59 today, thanks to a 50.

I had another very quiet day, today. I normally have quiet ones, but this was more so. I'm still quite tired after Friday.

What's your cat like? I have never had a rescue animal, in mainly because we have to pay for them, and there are plenty around for free. I don't know whether I will get another pet when Spotty dies. I have always had a pet (or 2 or 3, and sometimes a lot more LOL) At one time I had 9 cats, 2 goats, a dog, 2 guinea pigs, and 2 budgies.

We are all matchy matchy this morning. I got 29 too.

How frustrating that the medical notes weren't where they should be. Hopefully, they will properly support her claim once they arrive. She is blessed to have such a great support system in you.

I got my new cat last night. He is a rescue from my local Humane Society. So far, so good.

We don't know how it will go at this time. The Lawyer has 28 days to come to a decision and let us know. On Thursday I wouldn't have given tuppence for her to win, but given that it turned out that the ACC didn't have the GP's notes, or my sister's Orthopedic Specialist's notes, they have to get them and it COULD sway the outcome. Funny thing is, I TOLD my sister a week or two ago to get a letter from them in writing stating their opinions on the subject, and also that the Hospital Dr's documented statement claiming it was likely Gout or Rheumatoid Arthritis prior to discharging her, which subsequent tests disproved, and to present that at the meeting. My sister wouldn't because she said they would have all of that. I told her you can't rely on that. Turned out I was right because ACC didn't have that information. I was able to point out some pertinent information which could be helpful, too, and which my sister wouldn't have told them. I guess this is where patience is a virtue.

8 for me today.

I had an early start to be down the line as Support Person for my sister's review with Accident Corpn. It's fine going down because it is pretty much straight through, turning off one motorway and going up one road to get on the other motorway, but bloody confusing on the motorway coming back, and once again, I took the wrong Bl**dy lane because the signage is very misleading. I ended up going miles out of my way and had to stop to get directions to get back to the motorway. I finally go home unscathed. I am what is called "BUGGERED" so am off to bed.

Nite xx

@SHOAPIE What happened?

I actually CHATTED to someone today .... a REAL LIVE PERSON LOL! The council mower guy was doing the traffic island just outside my place, and I noticed that he was using the weed-eater where the road and the island meet. I went out to him to ask how long "HE" had been doing it because I had noticed that for quite a long time there was no longer Kikuyu grass strands which I used to pull out while waiting for my cat to come inside. Turned out it was him doing it all that time. He seemed quite pleased that I had gone out to talk to him and had noticed it.

Yes, that is a lot of money for gas so I am not surprised the quote includes that. At any rate, the repair cost is still cheaper than a new stove. And I am sure you learned a valuable lesson on where not to clean! emoticon

I hope everything goes well for your sister on Friday! I am glad she has you to be there for her and hopefully, the roads won't be too bad.

The cost for the repair includes the mileage, and petrol here is quite expensive. Around NZ $2.40 per litre. That works out to US$5.87 /US Gallon.

I went to see my Mum today, instead of tomorrow, because on Friday I am going down to be a support person for my sister at a review for Accident Compensation Corp. She injured her foot 15 months ago and she has been dicked around by the hospital, and ended up being referred to a private Orthopedic Surgeon who, after having seen X-Rays and MRI, plus ultrasound, said that she needs surgery. ACC is trying to say she doesn't need surgery and that it wasn't in relation to the accident. She doesn't think too quickly now. She has had a couple strokes and altho' no-one would have a clue, it has affected her ability to think quickly. I would rather not go because where I have to travel to is well out of my comfort zone, and I find it very confusing to get there/back, PLUS it is our Anniversary Weekend and any Friday is bad news for the motorway without it being a public holiday where all of Auckland decides that they have to get away, and they can only go one road north or one road south :-(

It's great that you got some sun. It was a bit nippy here today, as in there was a bite in the wind.

$310 isn't too bad! I am sure the labor is the big chunk of the bill;at least that's how that is here in the USA. Do you have to pay for their mileage too? AT any rate, it's much cheaper than a new stove!

The sun came out yesterday. We haven't seen much of it lately during the past couple of weeks. It felt nice.

The Electrician's phoned me today. To fix it will be $310. That includes parts/labour and 2 visits to my house, at 10 1/2 miles each way. It won't be done until some time next week because they have to get the parts up here.

Hopefully the bunny is okay.

Well, the stove is somewhat fixed??? Maybe it can be repaired for not too much money. If not, a new stove is nice. An unexpected expense perhaps but nice. I am glad you are prepared with your frozen meals!

I do need to look at getting an extra freezer myself. My refrigerator has the bottom drawer freezer and it's always a mess.

I didn't see the bunny today. Pity, because it really is a cutie.

The Electrician came out re my stove today. Good news is that he put the top back on and the elements work.

Bad news is that it isn't legal. I can use it, BUT if I do I am taking a big risk, so I said the moment he mentioned 'isn't legal' it said to me, 'don't be a fool. Don't risk it." so I said Na - and it is turned off at the wall and the fuses. There are some parts that are needed to properly secure it to the frame-work, as well as replace to cracks on the sides which also make it dangerous. They are going to email me a costing, then I will decide if a new stove is in the immediate future.

In the meantime, I still have a ton of various frozen meals, so on the plus side, I am not using as much power with meal emoticon

I used the little fan heater for a few minutes in my bedroom this a.m. I line my clothes up along the column oil heater and my bed, and the fan heater warms them up. Need I see it was quite nippy this a.m.? LOL!

There was a little white bunny hanging around on my lawn today.; It was happily nibbling the grass. At one stage it hopped off and went under the neighbours house, but a while later it was back eating my lawn. I put a photo of it on our little Village FB page, but no-one claimed it, however someone commented that it was at there place a few days ago. They live about 300 meters away. It will be interesting to see if it is back at mine tomorrow. My g/son was disappointed that it wasn't here when he was with me during the holidays. They go back to school tomorrow.

It was chilly? No fun but I suppose it is still early spring for you so it makes sense. It's great you were able to warm up enough with proper clothing. The sun finally came out yesterday. We hasn't seen it since the 4th. LOL

That's interesting. I hadn't noticed the men's names LOL! I knew that they retired the names.

It was a bit nippy here today. I even put long johns and thermal Spencer on today, AND a cardigan because my hands felt like blocks of ice. I didn't use my heater, tho, because I was warm enough with the clothing.

Currently, the Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) rotates the names male - female - male - female for the Atlantic ocean; maybe it's different for the Pacific side. It looks like the used to just use female names but changed in 1979. A few weeks ago, Florence hit the USA's East Coast and left a lot of devastation for North Carolina and South Carolina. I am sure the name "Florence" will be retired from the list.

Here's a little bit of info I found, if you're interested:

78 for me,

Michael is most unpleasant. It's bad enough he is hitting Florida but he may roll into North and South Carolina, which were recently hit by Hurricane Irma and hadn't even fully recovered from the last major hurricane that hir which was Matthew. Hopefully, no lives will be lost.

Thankfully, my state, which is Minnesota, is north and central; we border on Canada; we are south of the provinces of Manitoba and Ontario and don't get hit by hurricanes. We have been getting a lot of rain and have a flood watch due to that.

I am glad you avoided the rain in your area!

Gosh - Hurricane Michael is sure doing a lot of serious damage!!!

Did you get any flooding?

We had some heavy rain this a/noon. At least I managed to avoid most of it by being in the car or in the house.

I figured you were speaking NZ currency. What I meant was $1600 is a lot, whether you're talking NZ or US dollars!

I am hoping the rain stops soon. We have flood watches. At least it isn't snow...yet.

NZ Currency. I had a look in an Electrical Appliance Shop brochure that came today, and the stove that I would need to get is on special for $1299 (NZ)

Yes, he IS cute, a biased great-grandma bias or other wise. LOL.

That is terrible about your stove!!!! Hopefully, they can get you in sooner as next Tuesday is a long way away, and I hope it is repairable. $1600 (US or NZ currency...lol) is a lot of money. I am glad you had a stash of food. Duly noted to be careful when I get a cleaning fit.

11 Points today.

He IS sooo cute, isn't he? (I'm biased, I know, but still :-) He is always smiling and laughing.

WHEN you have your cleaning fits DO NOT CLEAN BEHIND/BESIDE or UNDER YOUR STOVE!!!

I decided to do mine, so pulled it out from the wall. I did behind and under it and beside it. THEN I decided to lift the element top up a bit. I've done that heaps of times. This time tho' I BROKE THE BLOODY THING!!!!! I now have a floating element top and I can't use any of the stove AT ALL until it is fixed or replaced. I phoned the electricians and they may not be able to do it until Monday (Tuesday at the moment) but if they can squeeze me in earlier they will.I just realized tonight, IF the stove needs replacing, my house insurance should pay for some of it which would be fantastic because they are about $1,600.

I had just been thinking earlier on that it was handy having cooked mashed potato (one lot with Parmesan and Parsley; one lot with Canned Reduced Fat Corned Beef and the other with Kumara and Tuna/Tomato and Basil), plus all the cooked meats/casseroles in the freezer, the various frozen veges and the single-serve cooked rice pouches as well as cooked polenta so IF anything happened to the I am sorted for a while. Obviously it is a sign that I shouldn't think - LOL!

TJ Is so cute! He has a great smile. What a happy kid.

I hope you have had a nice time with your grandson.

The Twin Cities marathon went well enough. Volunteering was great, as always. All of my friends finished; I didn't see everyone I wanted but with 13,000 people running by, it was hard. One of my friends missed a Boston Marathon Qualifying time by 2 measly minutes. He was so mad.
