77 today.

Well, it is nice then that your grandson is quiet if noise is hard for you.

The new bridge is indeed nice. The exit on the north side of the river (I live on the south) is a traffic circle/round-a-bout so the traffic flows really well. We are doing a lot more traffic circles here in Minnesota when appropriate for the intersection. I think they work really well and bring back fond memories of my trips to the UK as a kid.

Thankfully, the residential area doesn't get flooded. And now that I think of the distance, it's more like half a mile and there is a slow incline between the town and river. Moreover, there is basically a flood plain which really helps. There is a nice trail system that gets flooded during high water but really no other concerns.

In the town I lived in before, my ex and I resided in a house that was more or less right off the river. However, we had no issues. The city actually built a dike that is well above flood stage so we never had trouble.

Wow! Your town sounds even more beautiful in spite of the random Tsunami. Your region is definitely interesting with the weather patterns and geographical events.

17 today.

I don't mind my g/son being quiet because one of the side-effects of the accident I had a few years ago is that noise often irritates me.

I enjoy traveling over new bridges when the old ones were too skinny or prone to flooding.

Given that you live 6 blocks from the river, is there a risk your place could/would flood, or is your house up a bit of a hill from it?

Where I live it is a little seaside village and it is also pretty much level with the water. The tidal river runs at the back of our village which is a little peninsular. Even with all the rain the risk of flooding is pretty remote, however that doesn't mean that we aren't affected by flooding, because there are places on the road going into our town 9 miles away which get flooded. Having said that, we HAVE been evacuated due to tsunami risk and put on stand by a couple other times re possible tsunamis after earthquakes around Indonesia and the Islands.

74 today thanks to a 50 and a 20!

I am surprised the Media hasn't picked up on the birth and earthquake, however small. It's a funny coincidence , especially since the quake was small and I imagine there was little or no damage and no lives lost, just one gained. emoticon

Thankfully, the flooding in NW Wisconsin hasn't caused a lot of damage. The road will take some work to get back to safety but I haven't heard of other propety damage. I am going with no news is good news.

The Minnesota River is rising again too. I have lived about 6 blocks from the river for about 6 years in a couple of cities. There is one bridge crossing south of me that is closed for the 2nd time this year due to rising water.

I am thankful the bridge I usually take is new. The actually finished it about 2 years ago, a bit after I moved into my current home. It's several feet higher than the old bridge. When the river hit flood stage earlier this year, we were in no danger of our crossing closing. I was so happy.

I am glad you got to visit with your grandson, even if he was quiet.

I only got 9 today.

The funny thing re the baby's birth and the earthquake, the Media has NOT picked up on it LOL! To be fair, it wasn't a big one - about 4.6, in the middle of the North Island.

I hope there wasn't too much damage in your neck of the woods re the flooding. Today was a beautiful day, especially after the previous couple days. I had the sun streaming in on me for a lot of it, then it started to get a bit nippy about 4p.m. so I turned the heater on not long after.

My g/son was with me again today. He is soooo quiet. He spends most of his time on the computer.

14 today.

Well, hopefully you'll get to see your dear mum soon. It's nice that you called to let them know.

We are actually dealing with some flooding here. A dam broke up in northwestern Wisconsin earlier this week and a major road was closed. I think it's better now or soon will be.

Well congrats to your Prime Minister! It is funny that the earthquake happened just after the birth. Hopefully, it wasn't a big one.

Ha .... 19 for me today too LOL!

I didn't go to see Mum today. The rain had been pretty bad, and that road was dicey. A lot of roads in the area were flooded or about to be. Still, we never had it as bad as further north, (Including the MAIN road north of the first city north of here which was closed re flooding and trees down.) phoned the Rest Home and will see Mum in a few days instead.

Our Prime Minister had her baby this afternoon. I had to laugh when I saw the time she had her ..... 4:45p.m.. at 4:51 there was an earthquake just down the line a bit LOL!

Glad you slept well.

Hopefully the rain stops soon. I hope you had a nice day with your grandson. I also hope you get to see your mum.

It is amazing that the main road has those types of issues! Hopefully the road behaves.

60 today.

I had a really good sleep last night ..... because I had a sleeping tablet LOL!

Today we have actually been having a winter's day. It has been heavy rain all day, and quite nippy so I turned the heater on mid a/noon. My grandson was here for the day because his class has gone on School Camp, which he doesn't go on re his autism.

Hopefully tomorrow I will be going to see my Mum .... so long as the road between her town and mine is open after the rain that we have had. There are often slips/flooding or related accidents which close it. Hard to believe is is NZ's MAIN road to the north of NZ :-(

Sorry you didn't sleep well. I hope you sleep better tonight.

I am sorry to hear your hubby's boss passed away. Hopefully you can make the funeral.

Thank you for sharing the story about the trip to Christchurch! What a wondeful gift from your son.

36 for me.

I never got much sleep again last night. I was really tired, but come 3:30a.m. and I was still tossing and turning :-(

I heard today that another of hubby's bosses died. His funeral is on Friday. I am hoping to go. When hubby was working for him, our son paid for us to fly for a long weekend holiday to Christchurch in the South Island. I had never been there, but hubby had. Hubby's boss had listened to and watched hubby constantly reading/looking at the photos of the bosses book which was all about old-time trucks etc. and talking about it, so unknown to hubby, he paid for a flight to Invercargill (right at the bottom of the South Island) from Christchurch, and arranged for him to be met, and taken through the private vehicle museum, which by all accounts was HUGE. Hubby absolutely loved it, and loved being in Invercargill again. Before we got married he went on a working holiday and worked at the big freezing works that was there. I'm really glad that he got a chance to revisit a place that he really enjoyed in his youth, He was away for the day, so I got a day to myself to explore.

How nice that your friend stopped by! I am glad she gave you a reason to get out of bed (at 11:30 AM). I hope you had a lovely visit to match the lovely flowers she brought.

1st Sunday in September for the NZ Father's Day? Duly noted and I learned something new.

17 for me today.

This a.m. I stayed in bed till quite late, 'cause I was comfy and watching some FB videos. I had just turned it off when I heard a knock on the door. A young friend I hadn't seen for a fair while had come to see me on a day off from work, and brought me some lovely flowers. I won't tell you it was 11:30AM when she arrived LOL!

Father's Day in NZ is always the 1st Sunday in September.

LOL...yeah, the weekend and weekday TV schedules are different.

My weekend is okay. I got hit with a bit of a head cold, a rare event in my world. It hasn't slowed me a bit. I plan on seeing a friend today and I will also stop by my parents to see my dad for Father's Day. I bought him beer and some cookies.

Weekdays/weekends make no difference to me other than what is on TV, and given that I don't watch much even that doesn't make much difference LOL!

I hope you turned the light off and got some sleep? I hope your Mum is doing well and that her broekn wrist is healing well.

We are gearing up for a hot and humid weekend. We will see highs in the low 90s F (32 C) and have the possibility for some severe storms.

I will stop by my parents' place on Sunday for Father's Day. I usually bring him cookies and beer.

I'm just thankful it is the end of the day ..... ANY day. Never got to sleep until AFTER 5a.m. but got woken by my alarm at 9:10a.m. because I had a Dr's appt. I got my flu jab today as well. Still, the earlier start meant I saw my Mum earlier which meant after I had done everything else, I got home earlier than I would have. Now I must TURN MY FLAMING LIGHT OFF and get some shut eye. It's only 11p.m.

Kris, I think you are correct as far as the record. It's rare that anyone hits over 100 and usually we are indeed towards the low levels. It's all for fun though and we can keep dreaming about the elusive 250!

Well, maybe it's good you haven't moved those boxes? I have moved some of them at least 4 times!!!!!!

I THINK our record here has been around 200. Given that there are a maximum of 5 SparkTeam Bonus points, we are trying for the maximum of 250 bonus points. We are often near the very minimum we can get if we qualify for all 5 flags .... i.e. 5 points total LOL!

Meghan - I don't GET to move the boxes. I just look at them and walk away LOL!

Good Morning! I got 78 thanks to a 50 and a 20.

10 hours of sleep??!!??? That is fantastic. That dream sounds kinda funny, even though it was your husband's funeral. I bet he was a good man. I mean, who interrupts hos OWN funeral to clean a ditch? LOL....Did your hubby have a good sense of humour?

I hope the bubble wrap helps maintain the heating and costs associated with it.

I think my friend's move went okay? I was only able to help pack for a couple of hours. They had the moving truck just until 4:30 PM and have to tun over the keys to their old place today. They actually sold it awhile ago and were leasing it back until they found the perfect new place, which they did about a month ago.

If anything, helping her inspired me to go through the boxes in my garage that I have been moving for 10 years. I know I have things I haven't seen (muchless needed) during that time frame. Decluttering feels so good.

67 today.

I slept fantastically well last night .... the best sleep I have had in a very long time, even tho' I dreamed it was my late hubby's funeral, and HE was the celebrant taking most of it .... at the Concrete Works that he managed for about 27 years. He even interrupted the service by him, FOR him to clean out a small ditch that had become blocked in the rain LOL! Anyway, instead of about 7-7 1/2 hrs sleep that I normally get, I managed to get over 10 hours emoticon

I bubble-wrapped my kitchen windows today, and am sure that I noticed a considerable difference with quickness of the house heating up when I put the heater on. That should also help to mitigate the extra power usage costs.

I hope that the move went according to plan, and that you really enjoyed your working at the dinner theater.

28 for me.

The benefits of a C-PAP are manyfold! They help you breathe while sleeping, help keep you warm, help cut down on heating costs and probably create white noise. emoticon I hope you slept well.

Today, I am working at the dinner theater in the evening and helping a friend move for a couple of hours this morning.

I got 77 thanks to a 50 and a 20. Doesn't say much for the other spins LOL!

I'm going to bed early tonight. I have watched what I wanted to on TV and so figured I would finish up here early, and go to bed to keep warm. I like having the C-PAP machine for winter night-times. I don't need to have a heater on overnight re my Asthma (breathing cold air affects me big-time) and the the hose gets lovely and toastie warm, tucked between the sheets. It is like a hot water bottle all night, but better emoticon

I love a good thunderstorm under the similar circumstances.I am glad there wasn't any major damage from the storms and that you got to visit your Mum. Hopefully, she continues to heal well.

I am looking forward to the weekend!

No, the rain didn't cause any issues this time. I went to see my Mum today and on the way noticed remnants of a number of small slips on the way.

I love listening to a good thunder storm, and seeing the lightening when there is some to be seen .... especially at night, so long as it isn't too close LOL!

48 today.

Today we had very heavy rain again with brief interludes. It was still fairly warm. Just over 19C inside the house. I saw on the news one house a bit further south had half a forest land against it .... like, literally, and the water went up to the ceiling. The grandparents and 4yr old g/child had to break through the porch roof to clamber onto the house roof to be airlifted to safety.

Unfortunately sometimes athletes don't tend to look at the greater good where it comes to potential health issues. I bet if the even had gone ahead and they were caught in the middle of a 'rip sh*t and bust' storm they would have complained that it wasn't cancelled. I remember when I was a First Responder covering Net Ball games, one young woman had seriously injured her spine. I couldn't move her off the court and because of the amount of water laying on the ground had to have her stand there supporting her until the ambulance arrived to take her to hospital. I got abused by quite a few for not allowing the game to continue.

I am glad glad area didn't get damage from the storms. Yesterday, the race I did had to change all races to the 5k distance, including the half marathon and 10 mile distances, because a storm was approaching. In the end, all it did was rain steadily for a few hours. The faster runners would have been fine but the half had a 3.5 hour limit so the slower runners would have been quite wet and the volunteers as well. Some people were upset and I understand but I think the organizer made the right decision.

29 today but I managed 100 SparkGoodie points on the wheel.

I never got to sleep until after 3:30a.m. so when I woke, I lay in bed this a.m. listening to the continuous thunder and rain that was hitting. A lot of the area was quite flooded, and/or suffered from slips, but getting 3" rain in about 4 hours might just cause that. No damage where I am fortunately. It's been fine all a/noon on, and quite warm. I never got up until just after noon.

I agree that the weather is indeed fickle. I always joke that they can't predict the weather that happened 5 minutes ago. emoticon I know it isn't easy and I have heard my local meteorologists have access to 10 to 12 different models at a time. Some are generally more reliable than others but I guess science isn't perfect, lol.

The weather sure is fickle this year ... world wide. I honestly don't know WHAT our weather forecasters are up to ... first the winter was going to be mild, then it was going to be cold and now they are saying it will be mild for the northern part of NZ. I guess the only one I will believe is the weather itself on the day that the weather happens LOL! I didn't need the heater on today altho' it was quite cold this a.m. When I remembered to look at the thermometer in the dining room at 11a.m., it was 12.1C (just over 53F) but it was getting warmer by that stage. This a/noon and early evening I had my oven going so that warmed the place up.

It officially hit 100 F/38 C yesterday. The last time it was this hot in May was 1934. Also, we had 16 inches/41 cm of snow 5 or 6 weeks ago. It's all very confusing lol.

I can't come visit ..... I can't take the heat LOL!

I don't mind the cold but what I DO mind is the power is expensive. My normal winter account worked out around $200/month last year. It is predicted to be colder this year, so if that is the case, the heater will be on more which means my power account will be higher emoticon

I am glad you figured out why your house wasn't warming up. Freezing is never fun.

If you like, our predicted high here in Minnesota is 100 F/38 C with a heat index (opposite of windchill) of 105 F/42C. You can come visit? LOL There's a heat advisory with poor air quality. I will be walking my 5k this morning.

39 today.

It's been c-o-l-d inside my house (and outside) today and even tho' I was wearing thermal long johns under sweat-shirting track pants, and a thermal long sleeved Spencer and a thick sweatshirt under a cardigan, AND knitted leg warmers and thick sox with sheep skin slippers, I decided I was sick of sitting in 13.9C (56.94) temp nearly all day, freezing my butt off, so ended up putting two heaters on. I wondered why the temp only picked up slightly (to 15.6C) Turned out that the big Oil Column Heater switch had tripped the safety cut-out on the power board. I changed to another plug and now it is warming up a little more. Only thing is it won't long before I go to bed

Hi Meghan and Kris.

Sorry - AWOL! Today I got the all time low - 5 points from 5 spins. Having to work hard today to get my minimum of 100 points!

I am certain that God, who began the good work within you, will continue his work until it is finally finished on the day when Christ Jesus returns.

I hope you're having a good weekend!

I am off for my 10 this morning in the steamy heat.

47 for me.

I think I would have turned on the heat at that point too! Polar blasts are no fun.

We in Minnesota, on the other hand, are experiencing the opposite type of weather. We hit 90 F/32 C yesterday and are expected to hover around those temperatures through Monday. Plus, it's humid...ugh.

I am ready for the weekend. Work has been overly busy all week and I haven't been able to finish several tasks, which frustrates me.

12 today. I'm going to bed very early tonight.

It is freezing cold (has been all day re the polar blast NZ is copping) I have resisted having the heater on today but at 15.7C (60F) in the house I have just turned the oil heater on low in my bedroom to take the chill off before I get ready for bed.

11 today.

Yes, I am looking forward to Monday being a day off to remember the people who have served my country and given their lives. The paid day off is a nice perk.

Yeah, the before work concept sucks. I have never experienced before; every other job I have had, even withing my greater company are during working hours. My current position, though, is something I am seeing as a temporary and a chance to learn some new programs to grow within the country.

I hope you slept well last night?

37 for me today.

Most of the work meetings I attended when I was working happened to be during my normal work hours, so that was good. I bet you are eagerly awaiting your paid day off work on Monday :-)

It was nice your grandson got to spend the day with you. It's too bad the teachers can't seem to check to make sure everyone is where they are supposed to be. I bet the museum would have been fun but safety first!

My work has a mandatory meeting for us BEFORE work. We have to go in an hour and 10 minutes early. Yes, we get paid but I am angry about it. At least we have our Memorial Day holiday next Monday. It's a federal holiday so it's a paid day off.

74 today.

I had my younger g/son here all day. He didn't go to school because it was a Museum Visit and the teachers/parent helpers do NOT seem to keep a check on whether the kids are still with them or not, (even to getting on the bus to come back home) and his autism can be challenging with that sort of thing. I think he enjoyed it here anyway, because he spent the day on the computer LOL!

Sorry to hear you slept poorly. I hope the saline rinse helped and that you sleep better tonight.

Sorry to hear your son has been really sick.Visits to the ED are never fun.

It's just another Tuesday here.

29 today.

I woke this a.m. with bad acid burn (stress dreams) and bad sinus congestion and headache. I hadn't used my saline rinse for a while, so that was the first thing I did this a.m.

The last couple days my son has been messaging me because he has been having high temps and bad sweating. Long story short, tonight he went to the ED at the hospital. X-rays are clear, and the bloods were mostly really good. They suspect it is a viral infection. He has a lot of these, including having had pneumonia a couple times a couple months.

17 for me. You beat me! Woo hoo.

Glad you slept well. I sure did too but then again I ran a 10 mile (about 16.5 km) race then mowed my lawn

I am glad the hail was quick in its passing. Hopefully it didn't cause any damage.

Yep - I slept 'fairly' well LOL!

My sister, who lives an hour away from me, phoned this a.m. She was having really HEAVY hail which came on very suddenly. While I was talking to her our sunny sky started to cloud over with some dark clouds. About an hour after I was talking to her, the hail came down here, too. It didn't last long.

Yes, the sermon given by the American bishop was good. It will be fun to see what the couple does now that they are married.

I am glad you got up at a reasonable hour. Hopefully, that means you slept well.

I really enjoyed the American Bishop's sermon. He was a breath of fresh air. He was VERY animated and passionate LOL

I actually surprised myself by waking up at a reasonable hour emoticon

Our live coverage just ended. I watched some it and had it on in the background otherwise. It's fun to celebrate the positive things that connect the world. Looks like they had a beautiful day.

I Taped ALL of Diana's funeral. It's been going on here since before 5:30p.m. when I turned TV on. It is now 10:48p.m. and due to go to at least 1 a.m.

I am glad your hubby's boss had such a large turn out. I think it usually attests to a live well lived. I am glad you were dressed for the cool weather.

This Royal Wedding is fun. I remember watching Charles and Diana's wedding 37 years ago. I may try and catch a bit of the current hoopla myself. overage started here in the US's Central Time Zone at 4 AM, which was just about 90 minutes ago.

I think because Meghan Markle (I completely approve of how she spells her name, lol) is American, it's an even bigger deal for us. A local radio station is even hosting a viewing party that started at 4 AM!

21 today.

The funeral was very big, especially considering that it was mainly older folk (like 70's 80's. I'm in my mid 60's and appeared to be one of the younger ones there. The weather held out but it was quite nippy. I had my thermal long johns and long sleeved spencer on under my clothes, and I was really pleased about that.

I have been waiting up for the Royal Wedding proper, but it is still over an hour to go. I don't know if I will be managing it. Probably will, but bed really is looking very inviting.
