I have strained my upper back and neck on right side.(cleaning up from hurricane) I am icing and heating alternating. I have a physical therapist, a chiropractor and my daughter is licensed massage therapist. Will seek treatment if no better by tomorrow. Hope your issue has resolved. I know mine is related to bad jaw alignment, TMJ disorder. Do you grind your teeth or clench? If so sleeping in a splint helps a lot.

Thank you so much. You are right. I was just going to go straight to the gym and do my routine workout. However, at this time your advice is best. A Physical Therapist would help me most at this time. I just was not thinking clearly the day of that post b/c of severe flare up. I just needed someone to say to me, hey get proffessional help b/f you try anything. Bless you

I belong to a Team for this but it isn't very active. You are welcome to join - just go to my SparkPage and look under the Teams.
Where it comes to back pain first and foremost you are best to talk with your Dr and be advised by them.
As an example, I have arthritis of the spine, and I also have scoliosis of the spine. There are some exercises recommended for one, but advised against for the other.
Apart from medication (including morphine) I was referred to a Physiotherapist who was able to assess me properly and give me the right exercises suitable for both conditions. She took a small Mat Pilates Class and I went there once a week. It is important doing this to ensure that the exercises are being done correctly because with some exercises, even one inch out of position can cause problems. They are there to put 'hands' on' and re-position when needed.
But then again, some people are advised to NOT do the exercises, such as my sister who has upper spine problems including a fused neck.
We don't have anything official, but there may be a SparkTeam for something close to that. You can try searching in the SparkTeams page (go to the Community tab and select SparkTeams, then search on there).
However, if you are having any type of back pain, especially severe pain, it would be best to talk with your doctor and get a referral to a physical therapist or other specialist if needed.
