I track it throughout the day.

I wish I could get in the habit of doing what one of my Spark friends does. She tracks everything she will eat the week before she eats it. That way, she knows exactly what she'll be eating - doesn't even have to think about it - because it's all there in black and white and she Knows she's staying within her nutritional goal.

Usually after b'fast when I've decided what to prepare for lunch (my main/big meal of the day) and supper. Then I go back at the end of the day and update if needed. If a day is full...lots of do...I will decide the day/evening before what I am going to eat and track, and then update as needed. I am retired and home a lot, so this is pretty easy to do:)

I'm another one that enters everything for the day after breakfast (except snacks) and then adjusts the amounts after each meal. It helps me stay mindful throughout the day so I don't end up with no calories left at dinner time because I enjoyed them all at lunch!

I record my meals in the morning as a plan for that day...
then I modify as needed. It helps me keep within calories and nutritional goals. If I change something, I try to make the swap something of equal value.

I usually record in the morning my planned meals for the day, but I record snacks as I have them to allow for variation. I don't like everything to be too set in stone or I rebel against the restrictions I've set for myself.

At the beginning of the day I plan out what I'm going to eat that day. I check the carb/fat/protein ration to be sure I'm on track. If I eat additional food, I record it. My problem is I keep eating less than 1,100 calories/day. I do not eat after 6pm. Trying to juggle my food intake can be difficult some days.

My tablet is such a pain and crashes every five minutes. It can take 40 minutes to enter my food.

So I do it once a day

There are two things that I loathe.
One is Winter!
The second are people who act like they are perfect. Especially when it comes to their diet.

When I first began Spark many years ago I was religious about it. It honestly kind of took over. Was it effective? Yes. I reached my goals, but not without consequence, in that I was SO obsessive about tracking. I will say that I believe it is an extremely useful tool, most especially when first starting out - it really was eye opening. But I think it can become a detriment and you can stop allowing yourself to LIVE realistically. Find the balance, whether you track once a day, a few times a week to check in, or every single thing you put in your mouth. Be mindful of the overall goal :)

Normally every meal. I count calories and sodium. Very limited on sodium. Today I went over for the first time in a long time. I should weigh in the morning to see if I need an extra water pill. I have chf and really have to watch that sodium.

A day or two ahead. If something changes I go in and readjust. I prep my meals for the week, and tend to eat the same thing for each meal so it makes it easy.

I have the memory of a sieve, so it's better for me to record soon after I've eaten something. I often calculate calories on my phone and save the info for when I can jot them down in my Notepad file later on.

I eat the same breakfast most days and pack my lunch for work, so it's easy to track all of that while having coffee in the morning. If you don't track until the end of the day it would be so easy to go over and not realize before it's too late.

I'm most successful when I take 5 minutes in the morning to plan what I'm going to eat and then adjust the changes as I go. I try to switch similar foods for each other (example protein for protein). My aim is to get in as many veggies as I can. This strategy help me see the calorie allotment so that if I change something I can guesstimate a better choice.

I also read a lot of articles from the EAT THIS NOT THAT website and get some great tips.

I usually record around lunch time, know what I had, and have a clue about dinner and snacks. Don't obsess about when though, or you will frustrate yourself and not do it.

I use to log as I went. I decided to try to get my whole day at once! Have been doing really well & I have more control on how nutrition report comes out at the end of the day!!

It varies.
Some days I log as I go; some days I log before I eat.

Remembering to have everything logged before going to sleep for the day is not an issue for me.
It needs to be done - so I just do it.

I'm most accurate if I post at random opportunities during the day, but since I eat the same breakfast every day I go ahead and post that up to a week in advance.... and then I really have to remember only the other meals and snacks... usually I log the rest of the day's meals the last thing in the day...

Hello All - I'm curious for those of you who are successful at recording everything you eat every day, do you record every time you eat something or wait til the end of the day, or something in between? What works for you? And how do you remind yourself to record?
