Have a Pita Pizza Bar.. Everyone could help chop a bunch of fresh veggies and herbs in the kitchen together while chatting........ We LOVE Pita Pizza Night here! We just use pita rounds (whole wheat) and lightly add extra virgin olive oil on top of each round and then a "small amount" of our favorite (heated) marinara sauce. Add your favorite toppings/skim mozzarella cheese and bake at 400* until bubbly.
The sky is the limit re: veggies and meat.. When we use meat I use Turkey Pepperoni and brown "extra lean" hamburger meat with Italian herbs/seasonings.
PLUS, I tell ya what....It tastes 100X better than take out pizza or frozen!
Better for you of course as well bc YOU are in complete CONTROL of what goes on your Pita Round.
I am gluten free, so my favorite pizza has changed. Now I LOVE my pizzas made with home made pizza crusts (haven't found a better crust on the market), loaded with fresh veggies. I often add gluten free meats, but not always. Topped with cheese, and then tomato slices on the very top.
When I'm feeling like I need to make changes, I add more veggies, less meats, and half as much cheese.
