All the girls in the neighborhood getting on the telephone partyline at the same time~ it really WAS a party! LOL

"The real secret of success is enthusiasm..." thanks, Walter P. Chrysler. I believe it. That's what I want in my life--to give my imagination a chance, to live with energy and enthusiasm!
P.S. I looked up enthusiasm, and it says the root words mean God within... interesting...!

Ralph Waldo Emerson said 'Life belongs to the energetic.' But I don't think you have to be frenetic and hyper--some energy is quiet and steady, like a heartbeat... and that works too!

Penny Candy at Leo's Bakery...watching Bewitched on TBS in the summmertime while eating PB&J's with Ice Tea, playing Barbie dolls all night with my barbie townhouse with the pulley elevator, watching Kids Incorporated (K-I-D-S YA!), playing TV tag at recess, swinging so high I thought I would touch the clouds, Bill Harley and Monsters in the Bathroom, seeing Goonies at the theater, making friendship bracelets out of embroidery thread, corey haim, river phoenix, fred savage, wil wheaton, and corey feldman posters all over my walls, listening to records in my room and dancing so fast my mom would bang on the ceiling for me to calm down...

The Brady Bunch

Romper Room

Afternoon Soap Operas w/ Mom (back went they made sense)

Bug Spray w/ DEET

I remember all us kids getting out 25 cent allowance and going "down town" and getting a pop, chips and penny candy. How bout when KD was 10 boxes for a dollar?? My wedding flowers, all bouquets and table centre pieces cost us $26 and I still have the receipt. I remember my boyfriend making $2.65 an hour when he bought me a $350 ring. He's now my husband, LOL. Wow, does time fly!!!

I remember the test pattern on the television (the one with the small round screen), and I remember "duck and cover" drills at school. I remember wax candy lips, and getting a smallpox vaccination. I remember thinking how ugly "peddle-pushers" were, and how now that they're back in fashion as "cropped pants", I STILL think they're the ugliest things I've ever seen! I remember the first rock and roll song I ever listened to... Sherry Baby, by Frankie Valley... I remember 13 cent comic books, and 5 cent "Big Hunk" or "Look" bars. I remember 25 cent per gallon gas, and 35 cent per pack cigarettes.

A very vivid memory!! I was "Lady"(an invalid)sitting, way out in the country. It was a very blustery icy night & I had the radio on when they announced that Pearl Harbor had been bombed & so many people killed & Roosevelt "Declared War on the Japanese". I was so frightened. I couldn't even catch my breath. At age 10 I was sure that they would be over to bomb us soon. Oh, I will never forget the fear. & the couple didn't get back home until almost 3 A.M. A very long night, sitting alone in the dark!

Born in 1969, I remember lots of what has been said including rotary phones (hard wired into the wall...my parents actually rented theirs till it was disconnected in 2001) 45's too many to list.

One thing I am surprised I saw nobody mention is The Fuller Brush Man. I had heard stories of traveling salesmen from my grandmother...including when a FBM came to her house before the Hurricane of 1938. The wind literally lifted him off the ground and carried him several feet in her yard.

I was fortunate enough to have a visit from a FBM at my office (in Washington, DC) back in 1992 or 1993. I had thought they had gone the way of the dodo. He was an older gentleman and because of nostalgia I did purchase a boar bristle hair brush and have a nice story to share with my grandmother.

Imagine my surprise when I think about 5 or 6 years later when I was working for another company in Bethesda, MD that the very same man came to sell his wares. Neither I nor anyone bought anything that day.

I think they are selling on-line, but I have no clue if they still have traveling salesmen.

Logic, my dear Zoe, merely enables one to be wrong with authority. -The Doctor (#2)
