Sick and tired

Tuesday, February 05, 2008

Today I feel less than fit! I have sinusitis and am having a difficult time breathing due to the addition of a chest cold. I want to go to the gym but I feel like I don't even have the energy to work so I shouldn't be doing something "recreational" like working out. I just want to get better so that I can get back on track with my eating habits and working out/exercising. We'll see, maybe tomorrow.

Well, sometimes we do need to rest and heal up...but, guess what--it's tomorrow. Work on getting back in the habit--make that gym membership count. Start slow, don't get so sore that you don't feel like doing anything tomorrow. Two ideas I've heard from someone else: 1, keep your gym stuff packed in your car, or 2, put on your gym clothes at home, so now you are already dressed, so why not go. And a bonus--tell yourself it's "only for 10 minutes" and then see how you feel, whether you want to continue or stop for the day. 10 minutes is better than nothing, and it's a good starting point. Also, it's the point that the exercise starts to feel enjoyable--the point that you usually want to keep going.

Hey! Just thought I'd share this little quote that Bob the trainer said on the Biggest Loser the other night.. "When you have an injury, you just have to find other ways to get results". It helped me when I wasn't planning on going to the gym because of a small blister on my heal. Duhhhh, I can still do upper body work! Didn't even cross my mind!

    Keep up the good work!!
