I'm having a terrific time exploring healthier eating and (some) exercising. I still hate exercise and the only exercise I have ever enjoyed for prolonged periods of time is walking. Well.. the weather here is NOT cooperating in the least. I may have a solution. More about that another time.
So, I have wonderful family buddies and support. My second favorite hobby is cooking and exploring new recipes, so I've really branched out. I lost 5 lbs my first week and expect to lose a couple more when I weigh in on Monday. Soz, wat's da problem??
Today, for lunch, I had a serving of an exceptionally yummy squash/rice casserole and an equally yummy salad (my favorite one). I carefully accounted for every single calorie and measured everything with the precision of a research scientist. I had a full teapot of hot Passion (Tazo) tea.. scrumptious. No problem, right? WRONGO!!! I... ate...every...single...morsel.
..plate! I was full at about 2/3, but did I stop eating? I think we all know the answer to that one. I recognized my behavior, but didn't stop. If I don't find ways to recognize and deal with compulsive/addictive eating, I won't be successful in the long run. I'm going to search for some good reading material on this, but if any of you who might read this know of any.. please share.

    A few questions...
    So if you measured it ALL like a research scientist? - and it was within healthy limits, why are you upset that you ate it all?
    In my Weight Watcher days, I had times like that, where I'd eat every morsel, and then lick the plate, OK it's just on your blog, so not too many people will know that unless you put it on WWL here. Are there some other things that are coming up for you, you mentioned compulsive behaviors, and that you were full at 2/3's but kept eating. Could it be that it tasted THAT GOOD? What about water, how much water had you had before you started eating? How about emotions, what happened before you sat down to this scrumptuous meal? Look at YOU, what's going on in your life besides retirement & your brother. Just some amateur Psyc. ideas.
