Slow going!

Have a procrastinating mentality. Slow to motivate but working on positive motivation and baby steps. Physically hard to even do the warm ups and can do very few exercises right now other than walking. treadmill helps alot on the cold and rainy days! thanks to those who have welcomed me! So here's to slow and steady wins the race!!!!

    I'm the queen of procrastination ... and i must say, i haven't seen you at the meetings ... of course, i keep putting off posting the location and time. I have made signs for myself ... above the bed and above the computer and above the TV ... in BIG, BOLD letters, they say; "GET UP OFF YOUR BUTT AND DO IT NOW" and "DO IT FOR GERALYN" (feel free to substitute your name there ... don't feel you have to do it for me!)
    i see them and i remember WHY i need to get up off my butt ... and usually I do.

    A ver dear friend of mine on here told me that when she first started that she did many exercises lying on her bed, since getting up and down off the floor was pretty much impossible. She suggested leg lifts, crunches, laying on the bed an dpressing your back into it, on hands and knees arching your back like a cat and then relaeasing, just anything you can think of to do. I also find that wall pushups are great too!

    I am moving very slowly myself, but slow will keep it off.

    Keep strong, you are a good person who cares and you will succeed. It's great to hear of your passion for the animals. Aren't they great, they are always there for you, no matter what. Unconditional love at the higher level.

    Walking is good for you and take the small steps as successes. The weight will come off! Say it and believe it! Stay positive! Remember also, we are here to help you in your journey and we will be here for you.

    it's a journey and everyone has its own times, don't get discouraged. Look back and if you are a bit better than a year ago focus on that.
    Treadmill is great for me too, don't like any exercise so I walk watching movies. I also don't have a dog to walk with and around here its all hills hills hills. Cattery with 25 pusses, only 3 shy ones. New photo of my ragdoll in my gallery if you feel like a giggle.

    Walking is good! And so are baby steps. I do a lot of old fashioned exercises: stretching, windmills, arm movements, etc. And house work! I think housework is wonderful for burning calories, plus it's killing two birds with one stone. ;-)
    I had a personal trainer that said losing weight is 90 percent diet and 10 percent exercise.

    Slow and steady! Hey that's why I choose the turtle for my meter!
    As for exercise I am starting slow- I am doing 1 mile a day using an old "Walk Away the Pounds " VHS I found at a thrift shop! It only takes 18 min. and is pretty easy to follow. The best part is it is not weather dependant! I also try to do strengthening moves with my little dumbbells. Some days are better than others, I just try to remember to keep going- slow is better than not at all- is my motto.

    I'm happy to find people that are new at this, as I am. You are right that slow and steady wins the race....i keep telling myself that as well. I am finding it difficult to get started on the fitness aspect of this journey but i'm sure it will get easier as I go, as it will for you.

    Welcome to Spark People. Start slow and build. Stretches will do a lot to get your muscles ready to bear weight. Also doing your weight/strength training 3x a week will also help you build muscles that are prepared to work with you and not against you.

    Hey Welcome to Spark People. SLow and steady wins the race. We did not get here overnight so we can not expect the weight to fall off overnight right? You are a special Human being taking care of God's creatures, now take care of his most important creation... YOU.. you are worth the effort. I do chairdancing and whatever low impact exercises I can as I walk with a cane. Best of luck to you on your journey to better health,
