My DH retired Friday. He is so excited about it. Then last night we were laying in bed talking and he said "now what am I going to do with myself?" I said first off just relax a few days. He was at this company for 42 years. Some of those years working 2 jobs so I could stay home to raise the kds. I will keep working for a few years to carry the insurance. He's already talking about painting the living room. And cleaning out the closets. I may come home to no clothes one day! LOL We're also keeping 2 of our teenaged granddaughters while their dad goes to anger management and parenting classes. Two teens in the house is quite a change. No one can get thru on the phone now! Good thing I've got a cell phone!
As for the weight loss, I've been baking cookies for Otis to take to work one last time, cooking full meals every night, instead of eating light. Got to get a handle on it!

Well, he's already crazy about golf. Our pastor and DH are best friends and go golfing every chance they get. He also said he will get him to go on hospital calls to. Then there are the grandkids...he can spend time doing things with them. Our grandson is learning golf so will probably do that some. Plus he said he will keep the house clean. What a help that will be. Work all day and then come home to cook and relax. He learned how to use the new washer...I think he will be fine. If he gets bored, he enjoys video games too.

Congrats! My DH and I are both retired. But it was much harder for him at first. I talked him into going to the local cafe for coffee in the morning.( he knows some of the guys. some are retired some just stop in before work) This has him still going somewhere in the morning like he is use to. He is back home by 9am. But still feels as if he has had contact with the outside world. And it cost him $1.50 for therapy each am. He wouldn't miss it now.good luck

Do be careful with cooking so much and baking. It is too easy to slip back in to old habits. Congratulations to your DH on his retirement. He might just be a really big help to you around the house now. I sure do not envy you have two teenagers there but I am sure you will make the best of it. Rosy

Got to get him interested in some long term hobbies and interests, now the business isn't a issue anymore or he will drive you nuts. We women can always find something to do around the house, but for men this is a hard thing if the business has filled up his everyday life. Join a gym together or go fishing! The world is yours, enjoy it now there is time.
