A new me..not quite yet!

Saturday, January 05, 2008

So this morning I got up feeling a little spunky, and plenty brave. I started taking down the Christmas tree, which is a gigantic job, but I'd procrastinated long enough. Then I decided I'd run out and see if I could find some NEW athletic pants.

Now see, here's the deal...I've needed some forever, but haven't bought any for one BIG reason--I don't want to buy them in the size that I need. Now I know that's stupid, and you know that's stupid, but I couldn't help myself. I was in a horrible state of denial.

So my first stop on this shopping journey was to the hair salon. I walked in, stepped up to the counter, and asked for a colored hair bond. ::gasp:: Oh, yes I DID! And I walked out with this lovely bright red bond in my hair. It's really NOT me, and really out of my comfort zone, but it's fun and unique, and I think I'll keep it long enough to wear it to the upcoming concert I'm going go.

After the red hair add-on, I felt GREAT about myself.. And the more people complimented me on it (people I didn't even KNOW,) I completely forgot about my size issues, and bought 2 pair of comfy workout/lounge pants. No more excuses for not buying them..I bought them in the size I NEEDED & not the size that I want to be. Everyone has to start somewhere in their quest for a new "me", right?

Now I'm not claiming that a red hair bond is going to get you over your self esteem issues, or bring on world peace, or anything else significant...but I DO think the little things we do sometimes can inspire us to take the next step. :-)

Kim: That looks darling! What concert are you going to? Good for you for getting out of a rut! I'm planning on getting my haircut in the next few days, too; we are having a pictorial directory put together for our church, and I feel so FRUMPY!!! Maybe I'll do something daring, too.

I salute your spunkiness and especially your red hair. I love red hair and I feel it is sexy. I like medium reddish brown, myself, which I think makes me look sexy. (As sexy as one can be at 55 and 50 lbs. overweight).
As for the Christmas decorations . . . tomorrow is the 12th day of Christmas, Feast of the Epiphany, Three Kings Feast, and it is good to have your decorations up until after.
    I require inspiration for de-decorating.
Did you get those new athletic pants?
