Help for medical problems is scary.

Thursday, January 03, 2008

I was just reading the article about Procrit and the othe ESA drugs they have for anemia that they prescribe for Cancer patients. What is going on that they perscribe these things "hoping" that it will help people and then come out with information that it was really doing more harm for most that received it than the good it was supposed to do. (and maybe a lower dose would be better? come on shouldn't you start that way first and work up?) I only hope those people that recieved it felt better before they died! So much of medical science seems to want to kill us off faster and say it is really for our best until they prove it isn't. Same goes for birth control and HRT and I know many other things out in recent years. And if you listen to the commercials they want you to ask doctors for pescriptions for... the cure can often cause worse problems than the original problem. And with all the different "Medical specialists"
one needs to do a video tape for the doctors so they can just watch your medical history and you not have to repeat it over and over again when you are deathly ill. The conmercials that say "let yourdoctor know if you have..." There used to be a time when a doctor could look at you or even smell your breath and know what was wrong with you. Or he would ask you questions, get to know you and know your case, but now they just look at reams of paperwork and flip through them looking for what would seem to fit a profile of something with your complaints and if not, let's by all means find something we can perscribe one of those new drugs for.
Research into food and what is good and bad for us drives me crazy, too.
Everything in moderation and as natural as you can get it is what I say. I know that isn't always the way I live, but I do try to make it a point to beable to read and pronounce most if not all that is written on the labels of food. The fewer the ingredients the better if it is packaged. That is usually the way I cook, also.
Sorry this is so negative, but It just really gets me when so much "healthy information" is pushed at us as fact and really it is just a bunch of statistics that can be manipulated to put in and leave out all kinds of things.
