New Goals, New Challenges

Saturday, November 10, 2007

The other day, I received an email from a good friend inviting me to join a weight loss challenge that will last until June. I jumped at the chance to take part in this friendly competition, thinking it would give me a little more motivation.

I have been part of SP (this time) since Aug. and I have seen some results. So why do I need this? A few reasons jump to mind. The first one is the fact that I am within a few pounds of where I fell off the wagon earlier this year. A part of me is afraid I will "fail" again, and stop the program altogether. The second reason is I know I can be healthier if I lose some weight, which has always been in my mind.

When I started in August I set some goals with a target date of early March 2008. With this challenge starting, I thought maybe it would be better if I based my results over the last 3 months and re-evaluate my goals to reach the end of the competition. When I began, my goals were somewhat random. I thought with effort, I would be able to average the maximum loss each week. 12 weeks later, I realize what my body can and will do at this point. Armed with that information, I feel my goals are reachable.

I am looking forward to this. I feel it also will give me the opportunity to spread the spark with the other people involved in this competition.

Wish me luck! We start this week, and it should be interesting to say the least!

Until next time...
