As I've told so many, my fortress (call it my sanctuary), is my sunroom off my bedroom, that I created when my mother was so ill and living with us. She and my brother, who was diagnosed with inoperable lung cancer, had moved in with DH and myself, into our tiny house (2 bedrooms); and it was quite a transition for all of us.
I cleared out the end of the sunroom, where I have bookshelves, sewing machine, cd storage, etc., and put in a love seat and an overstuffed chair. When I needed to "recharge my batteries" this is where I would go to talk to the Lord, study or just listen to relaxing music. Sometimes Mom would join me there, and we'd just chat.
She went to be with the Lord in 2003, but I still maintain the room; and it's where I always go to work on Bible study, to have regular prayer and read. From my seat, I can see the small magnolia tree right outside the window. It's adorned with several bird feeders, hummingbird feeders and several wind chimes, and it faces east so I can see the sun come up. It's a very special place for me.
